자동차 엔진오일의 마찰특성에 관한 연구 (A study of friction properties of the automotive engine oils)

  • Engine oil of the vehicle is very important to reduce friction and wear of the moving parts as long as possible without deterioration. As the technique of engine design and manufacturing improves, the performance of engine was increased greatly with the improvement of the quality of engine oil. All the additives and formulations skill of engine oil produced in our country are imported from foreign country. So it is necessary to study the basic knowledge of the mechanism of friction and wear of engine oil for the development of our own formula and additives. From this research, the basic mechanism of tribology and the change of oil properties were studied with a home made oil and two foreign oils by bench and engine test and laboratory works.

  • In this study, several sensor parts used to obtain better signal stability are designed, a separate control circuit for the sensor is developed, and the results obtained using this control circuit are analyzed. The capacitances of the whole sensor system are measured using the control circuit connected to an improved flexible printed circuit board and an asymmetric dual sensor coated with a ceramic material. To realize good discrimination for a small change in the measured capacitance as the engine oil deteriorates, a commercial application-specific integrated circuit is installed on the control circuit as a capacitance-to-digital converter. The absolute error of a measured signal is found to be approximately ${\pm}4fF$.

  • New method and device for the on-line measurement of soot concentration in a diesel engine oil are proposed, where the measurement principle is based mainly on attenuated internal total reflection. The detector were evaluated in various ranges of contaminated oils by carbon black particles. It was found that the proposed detector could be well used to monitor the oil deterioration due to soot contamination. Operational range of the detector was found from 0 to 5 mass percentage of soot content. Test results with water and fuel dilution showed that these effects were not remarkable. However, adsorption of carbon black particles onto the measurement surface was considered to be a critical problem of the detector. Effects of particle deposition on the interface was experimentally evaluated with the oil temperature and flow turbulence and discussed throughout this work.

  • An integrated in-line oil monitoring detector assigned for continuous in situ monitoring multiple parameters of oil performance for predicting economically optimal oil change intervals and equipment condition control is presented in this study. The detector estimates oil deterioration based on the information about chemical degradation, total contamination, water content of oil and oil temperature. The oil oxidation is estimated by "chromatic ratio", total contamination is measured by the changes in optical intensity of oil in three optical wavebands ("Red", "Green" and "Blue") and water content is evaluated as Relative Saturation of oil by water. The detector is able to monitor oils with low light absorption (hydraulic, transformer, turbine, compressor and etc. oils) as well as oils with rather high light absorption in visible waveband (diesel and etc. oils). In a case study that the detector is applied to a diesel engine oil, it is found that the detector provides good results on oil chemical degradation as well as soot concentration.

  • 엔진오일 상태에 따라서 엔진 오일의 유전율이 변화하게 된다. 오일의 유전율은 프로브의 특성 임피던스와 관계가 있으며, 프로브의 특성 임피던스는 프로브 입력단의 반사 신호를 결정한다. 본 논문에서는 프로브의 등가회로를 유도하고 정전용량 측정에 의해서 구한 유전율의 변화에 따른 프로브의 반사 계수를 이론적으로 계산 하였다. 결과로 오일의 상태가 열화 되면 반사 계수가 증가 되는 것을 알 수 있다.

  • The effects of fuel injection nozzle hole on the NOx emission and fuel oil consumption of medium speed diesel engine HYUNDAI HiMSEN 6H21/32 engine are investigated by engine performance simulation. The results of performance simulation are verified by experimental results of NOx omission fuel oil consumption, cylinder pressure, and heat release rate according to the variation of the number of fuel injection nozzle hole and engine load. The performance simulations are also carried out to optimize the fuel injection nozzle of 6H21/32 engine in respect to the NOx emission and fuel oil consumption. The engine performance measurements are performed to verify the results of performance simulation and to investigate the effects of fuel injection nozzle on engine performance. The results of measurement indicate that significant NOx reduction can be achieved with minimum deterioration in fuel oil consumption by optimizing the geometry of fuel injection nozzle on 6H21/32 engine.

  • 본 논문은 프로브의 반사계수를 이용하여 엔진오일의 열화정도를 측정하기 위해 반사 계수를 측정하는 회로를 설계한다. 프로브에 펄스를 인가하고 반사 신호를 측정할 수 있는 회로를 구현 하였다. 엔진오일의 상태가 열화 될 수록 반사 신호는 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었고, 엔진오일의 온도가 상승함에 따라 열화된 엔진오일의 유전율이 감소하는 현상을 측정하였다. 결론적으로, 프로브의 반사 계수를 이론치와 측정치를 비교 분석하였다.

  • 내연 기관의 엔진오일은 열화작용에 의해서 수명이 짧아지고 대기오염을 유발하게 된다. 엔진오일의 상태를 정확히 측정하여 새오일로 교환함으로 엔진의 수명 연장 및 환경오염을 줄일 수 있다. 정전용량 프로브는 엔진오일과 같은 유체의 유전율을 측정하는데 사용 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 엔진 오일의 열화 정도에 따라서 달라지는 유전율 특성을 분석하였다. 오일의 상태에 따라서 달라지는 프로브의 정전용량을 각각 LCR Meter로 측정하여 엔진오일의 유전율을 계산하였다. 또한, 프로브의 크기에 따른 정전용량의 변화를 측정하여 유전율 측정의 정확도를 제시한다. 오염된 오일 일수록 유전율이 증가하며, 유전율로 오일의 오염정도를 판단하는 것이 가능하다.

디젤기관에서의 경유-메탄올 혼합유의 연소 안전성과 연소특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Combustion Stability and Characteristics for D.O - Methanol Blending Oil in Diesel Engine)

  • It has recently been reported that methanol fuel has been used in the product carrier with established duel fuel engine, which has been greatly reducing emissions of $CO_2$, NOx and SOx from the engine. However, to use methanol alone as fuel oil in a general diesel engine, design modification of cylinder head is needed because the ignition aid device or the duel fuel injection system is needed. On the other hand, only if the mixer is installed on the fuel oil supply line, diesel oil - methanol blending oil can be used as fuel oil for the diesel engine, but there is a problem of the phase separation when two fuels are mixed. In this study, diesel oil and methanol were blended compulsorily in preventing the phase separation with installing agitators and a fuel oil boost pump on fuel line of a test engine. Also, cylinder pressure and fuel consumption quantity were measured according to engine load and methanol blending ratio, and indicated mean effective pressure, heat release rate and combustion temperature obtained from the single zone combustion model were analyzed to investigate the effects of latent heat of vaporization of methanol on combustion stability and characteristics. As a result, the combustion stability and characteristics of 10% methanol blending oil are closest to the those of diesel oil, and it could be used as fuel oil in existing diesel engines without deterioration of engine performance and combustion characteristics.

운송용 트럭에 대한 엔진오일의 전기·자기적 특성연구 (Study on Electric and Magnetic Characteristics of Engine Oil in Transport Truck)

  • In this paper, we investigate the electric and magnetic properties of the engine oil, and estimate its changing time in transport truck. The four diesel trucks are selected, and the capacitance and inductance are investigated with parallel capacitor and induction coil, respectively. The measured capacitance gradually increases up to 10,000~14,000 km due to the activation of antioxidant, and then decreasing phenomena happen. The inductance decreases and the saturation began in 10,000~14,000 km range. Although the behavior of inductance is different from that of capacitance, but changing points are similar. From those results, we can estimate the changing time of engine oil is around 10,000~14,000 km and the inductance can be used for monitoring of engine oil in transport trucks.
