노크센서를 이용한 점화시기 피이드백 제어에 관한 연구 (Study on ignition timing feedback control using the knock sensor)

  • The ignition timing feedback control system was studied to enhance the engine power and to reduce the fuel consumption by optimizing the spark timing. The signal of a piezo-electric vibration transducer attached to the engine block was compared with that of a pressure transducer in order to determine the knock intensity. With the result of comparison the ignition timing feedback control system which detect the knock and correct the spark timing was set up. The ignition could be more advaced with this control system than the existing system without the continuous knocking, therefore the engine torque was increased.

  • 본 연구에서는 말단가스의 온도, 압력 그리고 농도가 변화함에 따라 어떻게 자동점화가 일어나는지를 서술하는 chemical kinetic model에 대하여 서술한다. 먼저 자동점화 현상을 화학적으로 modelling하는데 두가지 다른 접근방식에 대해 서술하고 각각 model의 예측치와 실험치와의 상관관계를 알아본 후, 마지막으로 두 model을 비교하여 본다.

스파크노크 발생에 대한 이론적 예측방법 (Theoretical Prediction Method on Occurrence of Spark Knock)

  • To theoretically predict knock occurrence in S. I. engine as a function of engine design and operating parameters, transient local temperature and pressure, mixture density of flame front in combustion period are calculated. We next determined normal combustion period and auto ignition period of end gas using the prediction method on occurrence of spark knock which we suggested. We predict knock occurrence in S. I. engine by comparing consecutively normal combustion period with the auto ignition period of end gas in combustion period. Engine design and operating parameters such as compression ratio, engine speed, spark timing, inlet temperature and pressure are taken into account in this calculations. The predicted result are well matched with the experimental results in turbocharged engine. Therefore, this method will provide the systematic guideline for designing engines in view of knocking limits.

  • 최근 강화된 국내외의 배출가스 규제 조건을 충족시키기 위해, 사용자의 요구대로 연료의 분사시기와 분사량을 조절할 수 있는 CRDI ECU 제어 알고리즘의 개발이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 산업용 CRDI 엔진 전용 ECU에 적용할 수 있는 노킹 판별 및 엔진 밸런스 보정이 가능한 노킹 분석 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 개발한 노킹 분석 시뮬레이터의 결과를 OBD-II 표준을 사용하여 차량 위주의 진단기를 개발하여 운전자가 직접 차량을 진단할 수 있는 운전자 중심의 진단 서비스를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위해 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서 출력 신호를 유선시스템과 무선 시스템인 블루투스 모듈을 이용하여 실시간 통신이 제공 될 수 있는 OBD-II 진단기 S/W 설계 방안을 제안함으로써 차량의 연비를 향상시키고, 유해 배출가스의 발생을 최소화하여 엔진 효율성의 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

CNG Dual Fuel 디젤기관의 성능과 배출가스 개선을 위한 수소혼합 실험 (Experimental Study to Improve the Performance and Emission of CNG Dual Fuel Diesel Engine Mixed with Hydrogen)

  • In this study, the performance and pollutant emission of CNG engine using diesel oil as a source of ignition, so called CNG dual fuel diesel engine is considered by experiment. One of the unsolved problems of the natural gas dual fuel engine is that there is too much exhaust of total hydrocarbon (THC) at a low equivalent mixture ratio. To fix it, a natural gas mixed with hydrogen was applied to engine test. The results showed that the higher the mixture ratio of hydrogen to natural gas, the higher the combustion efficiency. and when the amount of the intake air is reached to 90% of WOT, the combustion efficiency was promoted. But, like a case making the injection timing earlier, the equivalent mixture ratio for the knocking limit decrease and the produce of NOx increases.

인돌렌-메탄올 대체연료의 연료 특성과 엔진성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fuel Characteristics and Engine Performance of Indolene - Methanol Alternative Fuel)

  • A study of the propeny and performance effect of Indolene - Methanol Plus High Alcolhols (MPHA) has been completed. This study invested the measurement of fuel properties and performance parameters. The fuel properties investigated are distillation characteristics, heating valuer flash point, specific gravity and water tolerance. The performance parameters measured are minimum advance for best torque (MBT) spark timing, power output. The alcohol concentration was varied from 0 to 100 percent by volume in clear Indolene. The measurement of fuel properties indicated that, in general, Indolene - MPHA blends have higher water tolerance, similar specific gravity, similar flash point and different distillation characteristics compared to Indolene - Methanol blends. The performance parameters were measured using a single cylinder spark ignition engine at different compression ratios. The results of the performance measurements indicated that Indolene - MPHA blends have a higher MBT spark advance, similar power output.

  • HCCI engines fueled DME and natural gas have been studied on single-cylinder engine due to availability of reducing on $NO_X$ and PM simultaneously without deteriorating into high thermal efficiency, and thus it is clarified that higher maximum engine load is achieved as DME equivalence is smaller. In this study, combustion tests were accomplished on multi-cylinder engine for practical use of it. When minimum DME equivalence achieved maximum engine load on single-cylinder engine was applied to 4-cylinders engine, there was in unstable running condition that engine revolution fluctuated greatly and cyclically. It is the reason what misfire occurred intermittently with one the same as minimum DME equivalence on single-cylinder due to increase in energy for ignition at No. 1 cylinder with lower cylinder liner temperature. Maximum engine load was achieved by adopting EGR, though it decreased because of knocking at smaller engine load than single-cylinder due to increase in minimum DME equivalence.

  • The free-piston hydrogen fueled engine is estimated as the next generation power system which can obtain high efficiency and low emission, simultaneously. In order to develop the free-piston hydrogen fueled engine, it is necessary to stable the combustion. The engine combustion, backfire and knock phenomenons were studied by using RICEM for researching combustion characteristics of free-piston engine. As the results, backfire occurrence was not observed in the free-piston engine under limited experimental condition. And knocking occurred in case of higher cylinder wall temperature.

직접분사식 디젤기관의 착화지연기간에 대한 고찰 (Some Considerations of the Ignition Delay Period in D.I Diesel Engine)

  • The four combustion stages in a diesel engine have close correlation among them. Especially, the ignition delay period has significant effect on the following combustion stage. And the period is also one of inevitable combustion processes in the diesel engine. For example, the diesel knocking is a well-known phenomenon due to the long ignition delay period. The interval of the ignition delay period is affected by the mixture formation process in the cylinder. However, in the case of the D.I. diesel engine, the available duration to make the mixture formation of air-fuel is very short. In addition, the means of the mixture formation mainly depends on the injection characteristics and properties of the fuel. It is difficult to make complete mixture. Therefore, an early stage of combustion is violent, which leads to the weakness of noise and vibration. In this study, using the visible engine, we measured the ignition delay period by photo sensor which detect occurrence of flame and presented the factors of the injection characteristics such as kinds of injection system, the injection pressure and the injection timing. The relation between the ignition delay period and cylinder pressure diagram which was concurrently obtained was also estimated.

  • Spark plug ionization signal could be useful in an internal combustion engine as a feedback signal for combustion diagnostics such as misfire detection, knocking detection and lambda control, but the signal has high level of cyclic fluctuation in an internal combustion engine due to residual gas, pressure, temperature, mixture composition in the spark gap. Because of this reason it is very difficult to apply ion signal to commercial engine control. In this Study, a correlation between A/F and spark plug ionization signal was studied in a constant volume chamber. Constant volume chamber with gas phase fuel(Propane) has homogeneous fuel composition , no mixture flow, same pressure and temperature on each test. The results show that mean chemi-ion signal has the highest correlation with A/F and intial pressure change has on effect on the thermal-ion signal and not on chemi-ion signal.
