Formation of Anti-Corruption Consciousness of Citizens as a Direction of Interaction of Public Authorities and Institutions of Civil Society

  • This article defines the process of formation of anti-corruption consciousness as one of the areas of interaction between public authorities and civil society institutions. It is concluded that the implementation of the state anti-corruption policy in Ukraine may be more promising if the institutions of civil society are actively involved. The degree of citizen engagement can be increased by increasing social trust, as well as by increasing the level of political and legal education and culture. Particular attention should be paid to the organization of public control and monitoring of the activities of public authorities, impartial coverage of information on the fight against corruption in the media, as well as the joint conduct of an information and educational campaign and the promotion of the formation of anti-corruption consciousness among a large number of citizens.

  • The Metaverse industry is developing rapidly, and related technologies are being actively improved. Tools such as controllers, keyboards, and mouses are used to interact in the Metaverse, but they are not natural and intuitive interfaces to resemble real-world interactions. Immersive interaction in a Metaverse space requires the engagement of various senses such as vision, touch, and proprioception. Moreover, in terms of body senses, it requires a sense of body ownership and agency. In addition, eliciting cognitive and emotional empathy based on non-verbal expression, which cannot be suitably conveyed to the digital world, requires higher-level technologies than existing emotion measurement solutions. This diversity of technologies can converge to build an immersive realistic Metaverse environment. We review the latest research trends in technologies related to immersive interactions and analyze future development prospects.

  • In the simulation of underwater vehicles such as a submarine or a torpedo, various type of simulations like an engineering level simulation for predicting the performance precisely and an engagement level simulation for examining the effectiveness of a certain tactic is required. For this reason, a tactics manager which can change the behavior of a simulation model according to external tactics is needed. In this study the tactics manager supporting a script language and engine which can represent various tactics and can help users define external input tactics for the tactic manager easily is suggested. Python and Lua which are representative among script languages have been compared and analyzed from the viewpoint of a tactic manage, and the tactic manger using the script engines of those script languages was implemented. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the tactic manager, a target motion analysis simulation of the warfare between a submarine and a surface ship.

Perceived Parental Stress and Nursing Support for Fathers of High Risk Infants (고위험신생아 아버지가 지각한 스트레스와 간호지지)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the paternal stress and nursing support as perceived by fathers of high risk infants admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU). Methods: The study participants included 88 fathers of high risk infants in NICUs. Their parental stress and nursing support were measured using a self-report questionnaire. Results: The parental stress level of the fathers was 3.57 of a possible 5. Among the parental stress items, 'Relationship with infant and parental role' had the highest scores. The perceived nursing support level was a relatively high, 3.90 on a 5-point scale. The lowest score was for the item 'showed concern about my well-being.' The parental stress was lower in fathers with low income, higher in fathers in nuclear families and when the infants' condition was serious. Conclusion: The findings indicate that fathers of high risk infants experience intense parental stress. Thus when designing care to provide support for these fathers and their infants, it is necessary to encourage the fathers' engagement, provide information on how to respond to the baby, and include supportive care to the fathers.

  • Threat evaluation is a process to estimate the threat score which enemy aerial threat poses to defended assets. The objective of threat evaluation is concerned with making an engagement priority list for optimal weapon allocation. Traditionally, the threat evaluation of massive air threats has been carried out by air defence experts, but the human decision making is less effective in real aerial attack situations with massive enemy fighters. Therefore, automation to enhance the speed and efficiency of the human operation is required. The automatic threat evaluation by air defense experts who will perform multi-variable judgment needs formal models to accurately quantify their linguistic evaluation of threat level. In this paper we propose a threat evaluation model by using a fuzzy rule-based inference method. Fuzzy inference is an appropriate method for quantifying threat level and integrating various threat attribute information. The performance of the model has been tested with a simulation that reflected real air threat situation and it has been verified that the proposed model was better than two conventional threat evaluation models.

Initial Audit Engagement and Financial Statement Comparability (감사인 교체연도의 재무제표 비교가능성)

  • Purpose - This study investigates the effect of auditor change on client firm's accounting (financial statement) comparability. Design/methodology/approach - The comparability of accounting information is measured by the difference in accruals between the two firms. Additionally, the study uses earnings-stock return relationship as another proxy of accounting comparability. In particular, the paper examines whether there is a systematic difference between initial audit years and the other years with respect to the client firm's accounting comparability. Moreover, current study tests how changes in auditor size or industry expertise before and after the switch of auditors affect the accounting comparability. Findings - The results show that the level of accounting comparability is lower in the year of auditor change than in the other years. Furthermore, this lower level of comparability is derived by the observations that switch their auditors from non-Big4 to non-Big4 or from non-specialist to non-specialist. These results are consistent when accounting comparability is measured by different proxies. Research implications or Originality - The findings of this study provide important policy implications for the regulations related with auditor selection.

Improving safety performance of construction workers through cognitive function training

  • Due to the aging workforce in the construction industry in South Korea, the accident rate has been increasing. The cognitive abilities of older workers are closely related to both safety incidents and labor productivity. Therefore, there is a need to improve cognitive abilities through personalized training based on cognitive assessment results, using cognitive training content, in order to enable safe performance in labor-intensive environments. The provided cognitive training content includes concentration, memory, oreintation, attention, and executive functions. Difficulty levels were applied to each content to enhance user engagement and interest. To stimulate interest and encourage active participation of the participants, the difficulty level was automatically adjusted based on feedback from the MMSE-DS results and content measurement data. Based on the accumulated data, individual training scenarios have been set differently to intensively improve insufficient cognitive skills, and cognitive training programs will be developed to reduce safety accidents at construction sites through measured data and research. Through such simple cognitive training, it is expected that the reduction of accidents in the aging construction workforce can lead to a decrease in the social costs associated with prolonged construction periods caused by accidents.

Estimating Interest Levels based on Visitor Behavior Recognition Towards a Guide Robot (안내 로봇을 향한 관람객의 행위 인식 기반 관심도 추정)

  • This paper proposes a method to estimate the level of interest shown by visitors towards a specific target, a guide robot, in spaces where a large number of visitors, such as exhibition halls and museums, can show interest in a specific subject. To accomplish this, we apply deep learning-based behavior recognition and object tracking techniques for multiple visitors, and based on this, we derive the behavior analysis and interest level of visitors. To implement this research, a personalized dataset tailored to the characteristics of exhibition hall and museum environments was created, and a deep learning model was constructed based on this. Four scenarios that visitors can exhibit were classified, and through this, prediction and experimental values were obtained, thus completing the validation for the interest estimation method proposed in this paper.

Impact of Patients' Level of Participation in Rehabilitation on Functional Outcome in Patients With Stroke (뇌졸중 환자의 재활참여가 기능회복에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: Stroke recovery is a long and complex process. Successful stroke recovery seems to be strongly associated with patients' high motivation and committed participation. Patients' motivation is a key determinant of successful rehabilitation outcomes, but it is difficult in defining and measuring. Patients' participation is defined as the degree or extent to which subjects take part in rehabilitation activities and can be measured by observable behavior. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of patients' level of participation in rehabilitation on functional outcomes in patients with stroke. Methods: Forty post-stroke inpatients participated in this study. The level of rehabilitation participation was measured by the Hopkins Rehabilitation Engagement Rating Scale (HRERS). Other measures used for the evaluation were the Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI) and Korean version of the Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI). Overall measurements were made at early intervention and late intervention. Spearman correlation and multiple regression were used to measure the relationships between HRERS, RMI, and K-MBI. Results: The correlation found between HRERS total scores at early intervention and RMI total scores of late intervention was above moderate (r = 0.607, p < 0.01). RMI total scores at early intervention (p < 0.000), HRERS total scores at early intervention (p < 0.001), and disease duration (p < 0.003) were significant predictors of RMI total scores at late intervention. Conclusion: The level of participation at early intervention was associated with improvement in mobility. The level of mobility at early intervention, disease duration, and patients' participation at early intervention were important determinants of functional outcome. These findings suggest that patients' participation should be encouraged in order to achieve successful stroke recovery.

Improvement of Cognitive Rehabilitation Method using K-means Algorithm (K-MEANS 알고리즘을 이용한 인지 재활 훈련 방법의 개선)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a training method customized to the level of cognitive abilities to increase users' interest and engagement while using cognitive function training contents. The level of cognitive ability of the users was based on the clustering based on the users' information and Mini-Mental Statue Examination-Korea Child test score using the K-means algorithm applied collaborative filtering. The results were applied to the integrated cognitive function training system, and the contents order and difficulty level of the cognitive function training area were recommended to the user's cognitive ability level. Particularly, the contents difficulty control was designed to give a high immersion feeling by applying the 'flow theory' method that users can repeatedly feel tension and comfort. In conclusion, the user-customized cognitive function training method proposed in this paper can be expected to be more effective and rehabilitative results than existing therapists' subjective setting of contents order and difficulty level.
