Calibration mirror mechanism has been widely used for on-board calibration with black body. The calibration mirror is deployed to reflect the radiation energy from the black body to the image sensor for calibrating the sensor system. After the calibration, the calibration mirror is stowed not to hide a main optical path. It also has a fail-safe function which can stow the mirror by just removing the input power of motor when the calibration mirror is stopped at certain position during the calibration. In the present work, the operation concept, design, torque analysis and functional test results of the calibration mirror mechanism with the aforementioned function have been introduced and investigated.
The \gamma-ray spectrometer of the PGAA (Prompt Gamma Activation Analysis) facility constructed at HANARO of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute was upgraded to the multi-mode spectrometer including the single mode, the Compton suppression mode and the pair mode. The performance of the spectrometer was tested and summarized. The background count rate and the uncertainty of the detection efficiency were reduced greatly in comparison with those before the new installation.

This paper analyzes the accuracy of the methods used in calibrating the thermal power of Nigeria Research Reactor-1 (NIRR-1), a low-power miniature neutron source reactor located at the Centre for Energy Research and Training, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. The calibration was performed at three different power levels: low power (3.6 kW), half power (15 kW), and full power (30 kW). Two methods were used in the calibration, namely, slope and heat balance methods. The thermal power obtained by the heat balance method at low power, half power, and full power was $3.7{\pm}0.2kW$, $15.2{\pm}1.2kW$, and $30.7{\pm}2.5kW$, respectively. The thermal power obtained by the slope method at half power and full power was $15.8{\pm}0.7kW$ and $30.2{\pm}1.5kW$, respectively. It was observed that the slope method is more accurate with deviations of 4% and 5% for calibrations at half and full power, respectively, although the linear fit (slope method) on average temperature-rising rates during the thermal power calibration procedure at low power (3.6 kW) is not fitting. As such, the slope method of power calibration is not suitable at lower power for NIRR-1.
Radiometric calibration of optical image data is necessary to convert raw digital number (DN) value of each pixel into a physically meaningful measurement (radiance). To extract rather quantitative information regarding biophysical characteristics of the earth surface materials, radiometric calibration is often essential procedure. A sensor detects the radiation of sunlight interacted atmospheric constituents. Therefore, the amount of the energy reaching at the sensor is quite different from the initial amount reflected from the surface. To achieve the target reflectance after atmospheric correct, an initial step is to convert DN value to at-sensor radiance. A linear model, the simplest radiometric model, is applied to averaged spectral radiance for this conversion. This study purposes to analyze the sensitivity of several factors affecting on radiance for carrying out absolute radiometric calibration of panchromatic images from KOMPSAT2 launched at July, 2006. MODTRAN is used to calculate radiance at sensor and reflectance of target is measured by a portable spectro-radiometer at the same time the satellite is passing the target for the radiometric calibration. As using different contents of materials composing of atmosphere, the differences of radiance are investigated. Because the spectral sensitivity of panchromatic images of KOMPSAT2 ranges from 500 to 900 nm, the materials causing scattering in visible range are mainly considered to analyze the sensitivity. According to the verified sensitivity, direct measurement can be recommenced for absolute radiometric calibration.
The wind resource assessment for measured wind data over 1 year by using the meteorological mast should be a prerequisite for business feasibility of the wind farm development. Even though the direction of boom mounting the wind vane and anemometer is carefully engineered to escape the interference of wakes generated from the met-mast structures, the shadow effect is not completely avoided due to seasonal winds in the Korean Peninsula. The shadow effect should be properly calibrated because it is able to distort the wind resources. In this study a calibration method is introduced for the measured wind data at Julpo in Jeonbuk Province. Each sectoral terrain conditions along the selected wind direction nearby the met-mast is investigated, and the distorted wind data due to shadow effects can be calibrated effectively. The correction factor is adopted for quantitative calibration by carrying out the WindSim analysis.
Space Physics Sensor (SPS) on-board the KOMPSAT-1 consists of the High Energy Particle Detector (HEPD) and the Ionospheric Measurement Sensor (IMS). The HEPD is to characterize the low altitude high energy particle environment and the effects on the microelectronics due to these high energy particles. It is composed of four sensors: Proton and Electron Spectrometer(PES), Linear Energy Transfer Spectrometer (LET), Total Dose Monitor (TDM), and Single Event Monitor (SEM). 35 MeV proton beam from the medical KCCH cyclotron, at Korea Cancer Center Hospital in Seoul, is used to calibrate the PES. Primary proton beam of 35MeV scattered by polypropylene target is converted to various energy protons according to the elastic collision kinematics. In this calibration, the threshold level of the proton in the PES can be determined and the energy ranges of PES channels are also calibrated.
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(MOLIT) has increased reduction rate from 18.1% to 32.7% in Building sector compared to BAU of the national greenhouse gas emission according to the 2030 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Road map Amendment. For this purpose, MOLIT has been activating the green remodeling projects for existing buildings. Considering that 15 year old buildings after completion are 74% (5.25 million buildings) among about 7 million existing building stocks in Korea, reduction of building energy consumption by green remodeling is urgently needed, However, it is a major difficulty of activation for green remodeling projects because there are few case studies on Before and After building energy consumption of actual green remodeling projects. Considering that building energy performance and value increase after green remodeling through previous researches, additional studies of the energy consumption assessment on actual green remodeling projects are essential. Therefore, this study aims to propose results on Before and After building energy consumption of actual green remodeling projects.

This paper presents a method for accurate camera self-calibration based on SIFT Feature Detection and image quality assessment. We performed image quality assessment to select high quality images for the camera self-calibration process. We defined high quality images as those that contain little or no blur, and have maximum contrast among images captured within a short period. The image quality assessment includes blur detection and contrast assessment. Blur detection is based on the statistical analysis of energy and standard deviation of high frequency components of the images using Discrete Cosine Transform. Contrast assessment is based on contrast measurement and selection of the high contrast images among some images captured in a short period. Experimental results show little or no distortion in the perspective view of the images. Thus, the suggested method achieves camera self-calibration accuracy of approximately 93%.
