The random access systems, with retransmission diversity (RD) employment, over large random spreading code division multiple access (CDMA) channel subject to fading is investigated, under the assumption of infinite number of users and infinite spreading gain with their ratio converging to a constant. The low bound of the signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) is shown to converge almost surely to a constant. The throughput, spectrum efficiency and energy efficiency in the dominating systems are obtained. The analytical results are confirmed by simulations. We find that in high traffic loads the throughput with fading is higher than that without. When the energy efficiency increases, the spectrum efficiency tends to two contrary values due to SNR increases or decreases. For the ordinary stable systems, the stability region is shown to shrink as the traffic increases and enlarge with RD employment.

In this paper, we propose a slotted-ALOHA-based random access protocol and derive the optimal number of random slots that maximize channel throughput when multiple energy harvesting sensor devices perform random access in wireless-powered sensor networks (WPSN). Throughput numerical analysis, we prove that the throughput has a concavity with respect to the number of random slots and obtain the optimal number of slots. Simulation results show that the throughput of the proposed slotted ALOHA-based random access protocol is maximize when the derived optimal number of slots is employed in the considered WPSN.

The paper describes SR3 (Synchronous Round Robin with Reservations), a collision-free medium access control protocol for all-optical slotted packet networks based on WDM multi-channel ring topologies where nodes are equipped with one fixed-wavelength receiver and one wavelength-tunable transmitter SR3 is derived from the SRR and MMR protocols previously proposed by the same authors for the same class of all-optical networks. SRR and MMR already achieve an efficient exploitation of the available bandwidth, while guaranteeing a throughput-fair access to each node. SR3, In addition, allows nodes to reserve slots. thereby achieving a stronger control on access delays; it is thus well suited to meet tight delay requirements, as it is the case for multimedia applications. Simulation results show that SR3 provides very good performance to guaranteed qualify traffic, but also brings signigicant performance improvements for best-effort traffic. Energy effciency is an important issue for optical network since they must rely on their batteries. We present a novel MAC protocol that achieves a good energy efficiency of optical interface of the network and provides support for diverse traffic types and QoS. The scheduler of the base station is responsible to provide the required QoS to connections on the optical link and to minimise the amount of energy spend by the High speed Network. The main principles of the MaC protocol are to avoid unsuccessful actions, minimise the number of transitions , and synchronise the mobile and the base-station. We will show that considerable amounts of energy can be saved using these principles.

This paper proposes Co-MAC (Coexistence MAC), an energy efficient medium access control protocol designed for large-scale sensor networks. In Co-MAC protocol, an overall network is divided into independent subnets, and each subnet orthogonally operates on time line in a temporal fashion. The basic idea of Co-MAC is to evenly distribute sensor nodes in a certain geographic area based on subnets to minimize overhearing which means the reception of unnecessary data packets from neighboring nodes. In our simulation, it was observed that energy efficiency of Co-MAC outperforms conventional MAC protocols under the given conditions.

Due to the wide application of fifth generation communication, wireless sensor networks have become an indispensable part in our daily life. In this paper, we analyze physical layer security for two-way relay with energy harvesting (EH), where power splitter is considered at relay. And two kinds of combined methods, i.e., selection combining (SC) and maximum ratio combining (MRC) schemes, are employed at eavesdropper. What's more, the closed-form expressions for security performance are derived. For comparison purposes, this security behaviors for orthogonal multiple access (OMA) networks are also investigated. To gain deeper insights, the end-to-end throughput and approximate derivations of secrecy outage probability (SOP) under the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime are studied. Practical Monte-Carlo simulative results verify the numerical analysis and indicate that: i) The secure performance of SC scheme is superior to MRC scheme because of being applied on eavesdropper; ii) The secure behaviors can be affected by various parameters like power allocation coefficients, transmission rate, etc; iii) In the low and medium SNR region, the security and channel capacity are higher for cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems in contrast with OMA systems; iv) The systematic throughput can be improved by changing the energy conversion efficiency and power splitting factor. The purpose of this study is to provide theoretical direction and design of secure communication.

One of very essential techniques for enlarging lifetime of energy-constrained wireless personal area network (WPAN) devices is energy-efficient transmission technique. If the WPAN is operated based on a TDMA protocol, the satisfaction of QoS requirements at each allocated time slot is another important factor to be considered. We therefore propose an energy-efficient transmission scheme for WPANs operating with a contention-free medium access protocol such as TDMA, as well as satisfying QoS requirement. The proposed algorithm determines the optimum combination of transmit power, physical data rate and fragment size required to simultaneously minimize the energy consumption and satisfy the required QoS in each assigned time duration, considering all the possible energy-minimization related parameters. The proposed algorithm demonstrated the improved performance results in terms of throughput and energy consumption via computer simulation.
A spin coating process for RRAM, which is a TiN/TiO2/FTO structure based on a PTC sol solution, was developed in this laboratory, a method which enables low-temperature and eco-friendly manufacturing. The RRAM corresponds to an OxRAM that operates through the formation and extinction of conductive filaments. Heat treatment was selected as a method of controlling oxygen vacancy (VO), a major factor of the conductive filament. It was carried out at 100 ℃ under moisture removal conditions and at 300 ℃ and 500 ℃ for excellent phase stability. XRD analysis confirmed the anatase phase in the thin film increased as the heat treatment increased, and the Ti3+ and OH- groups were observed to decrease in the XPS analysis. In the I-V analysis, the device at 100 ℃ showed a low primary SET voltage of 5.1 V and a high ON/OFF ratio of 104. The double-logarithmic plot of the I-V curve confirmed the device at 100 ℃ required a low operating voltage. As a result, the 100 ℃ heat treatment conditions were suitable for the low voltage driving and high ON/OFF ratio of TiN/TiO2/FTO RRAM devices and these results suggest that the operating voltage and ON/OFF ratio required for OxRAM devices used in various fields under specific heat treatment conditions can be compromised.

As the electric power industry has been revolutionarily transformed such that the distributed energy resources have been interconnected with power systems and a variety of energy service providers have been appeared, the need of Consumer Energy Portal as a core of two-way communication and service infrastructure between power suppliers and consumers has been gradually increased. Consumer Energy Portal can be thought of as a combination of hardware and software enabling two-way communication between energy service providers and equipment within the consumers' premises or a physical and logical link between consumers' in-building networks and wide-area access networks. In other words, Consumer Energy Portal can make the way the power industry has been traditionally operated the web-based way, enabling two-way interactions between energy service providers and consumers and mutual networking between end users' equipment. Thus, Consumer Energy Portal can be a kind of Service portal that provides new value-added services and efficient power operations that in the past. In this paper, for ESPs' integrated resources management, demand side management and value-added service provision, we have established the two-way access network that can gather real-time metering data using ZigBee technology and control physically networked equipment.

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a promising candidate for 5G networks. NOMA achieves superior spectral efficiency than conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA), as in NOMA multiple users uses the same time and frequency resources. Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) is one another promising technique that can enhance system performance. In this paper we present a spectral and energy efficient multiple antenna based NOMA scheme, known as spatially modulated NOMA. In the proposed scheme the cell edge users are multiplexed in spatial domain, which means the information to cell edge users is conveyed using the transmit antenna indices. In NOMA the performance of cell edge users are deeply effected as it treats signals of others as noise. The proposed scheme achieves superior spectral efficiency than the conventional NOMA. The number of decoding steps involved in decoding NOMA signal reduces by one as cell edge user is multiplexed in spatial domain. The proposed scheme is more energy efficient as compare to conventional NOMA. All of the three gains high spectral, energy efficiency and one step reduction in decoding comes at cost of multiple transmit antennas at base station.
In this paper, we introduced our designed TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) based MAC (Medium Access Control) protocol for Home Networks called HomeTDMA. We have implemented and tested it in a test bed using crossbow motes and TinyOS. We also have compared HomeTDMA and CSMA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access) in terms of space and time complexity, channel access time, delivery success ratio, and throughput. Based on our results, HomeTDMA has an advantage over CSMA on channel access time, throughput and delivery success ratioIn the case of complexity, HomeTDMA is more complex compared to CSMA. Thus, CSMA is more appropriate in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) where memory, energy, and throughput are important parameters to be considered. However, HomeTDMA has a natural advantage of collision free medium access and is very promising for home networks where a reliable transmission or data transfer and congestion control is highly preferred.
