MCNP6 코드를 이용한 컨테이너 보안 검색용 전자 선형가속기 표적에서 발생한 광자 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Photon Characteristics Generated from Target of Electron Linear Accelerator for Container Security Inspection using MCNP6 Code)

  • 본 연구 목적은 선형가속기를 통해 입사된 전자가 표적(target)을 구성하는 물질과 두께에 따른 광자 특성을 평가하는 것이다. 전산모사 설계는 2 mm 두께의 텅스텐 단일물질과 1.8 mm 와 2.3 mm 두께의 텅스텐과 구리 복합물질로 구성된 선형가속기 표적(Target)이다. 연구 방법은 첫째, 표적 내 일차 입자의 거동은 전자플루언스와 전자 에너지 축적으로 평가하였다. 둘째, 표적 내에서 발생하는 광자는 광자 플루언스로 평가하였다. 셋째, 표적으로부터 1 m 거리에서의 광자 각-에너지 분포는 광자 플루언스로 평가하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 단일물질과 복합물질 표적에서의 전자 플루언스와 에너지 축적을 통해 일차 입자인 전자가 표적 밖으로 방출되지 않았으며, 표적 두께에 따라 전자가 음의 선형적으로 감쇄하였다. 둘째, 복합물질 표적이 단일물질 표적보다 광자 생성이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 물질 구성 성분과 두께가 광자 생성에 영향을 준다는 사실을 확인하였다. 셋째, 차폐 해석에 필요한 각 분포에 따른 광자 플루언스를 계산하였다. 이러한 결과는 선형가속기 표적을 구성하는 물질과 두께에 따라 광자 생성률이 차이 나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 연구는 국가에서 도입 중인 컨테이너 보안 검색용 선형가속기 사용시설의 설계 및 운영 시 필요한 자료이며, 방사선 방호에 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

Influence of Ion Isolation on the Resistivity of Different Types of GaN

  • Resistivity of GaN has been investigated under the influence of ion implantation. n-type, p-type and also undoped GaN has been used here. A ring shape pattern of Au was fabricated on GaN film by the photolithography technique. H, He and Ar were used for implantation. The ion implantation energy, fluence and post-implant annealing temperature varied in this research. Because of the making barrier in some selected area using ions, the resistivity changed in all the samples with the change of both fluence and energy. At room temperature, the resistivity of n-type GaN has been increased from $1.9{\times}10-2$ to $17.7{\times}10-2\;{\Omega}-cm$. This is high for He ion. But undoped and p-type GaN showed some anomalous character.

Temporal Evolution and Ablation Mechanism of Laser-induced Graphite Plume at 355 nm

  • Expansion dynamics of C$^{+}$ ions ejected from 355-nm laser ablation of graphite target in vacuum has been investigated by pulsed-field time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry. A strong nonlinear dependence of the amount of desorbed C$^{+}$ ions on laser fluence is interpreted by the mechanism that C$^{+}$ ions are produced directly from the graphite via conversion of the multiphoton energy into thermal energy. The temporal evolution of C$^{+}$ ions was measured by varying the delay time of the ion repelling pulse with respect to the laser irradiation, which provides significant information on the ablated plume characterization. The TOF distributions of ablated ions showed a bimodal shape and could be fitted by shifted Maxwell-Boltzmann distributions. The velocity of the fast component increases with the delay time, whereas the slow component (< 500 m/s) exhibits a constant velocity. Also studied were the effects of the laser fluence on the energetics of C$^{+}$ ions.

Study on changes in electrical and switching characteristics of NPT-IGBT devices by fast neutron irradiation

  • We studied the irradiation effects of fast neutron generated by a 30 MeV cyclotron on the electrical and switching characteristics of NPT-IGBT devices. Fast neutron fluence ranges from 2.7 × 109 to 1.82 × 1013 n/cm2. Electrical characteristics of the IGBT device such as I-V, forward voltage drop and additionally switching characteristics of turn-on and -off were measured. As the neutron fluence increased, the device's threshold voltage decreased, the forward voltage drop increased significantly, and the turn-on and turn-off time became faster. In particular, the delay time of turn-on switching was improved by about 35% to a maximum of about 39.68 ns, and that of turn-off switching was also reduced by about 40%-84.89 ns, showing a faster switching.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 Ir192 선원을 이용한 근접치료에서 물 흡수선량 1 Gy에 대한 광자 에너지플루언스와 질량에너지흡수계수를 유도하는데 있다. Khan이 저술한 방사선치료물리학으로부터 Ir192 선원의 감마선 선속에 대한 납의 반가층을 얻었다. 얻어진 납의 반가층으로부터 선감쇠계수와 질량감쇠계수를 산출하였다. 산출된 납의 질량감쇠계수를 NIST의 납의 질량감쇠계수 자료에 대응시켜 일치하는 질량감쇠계수의 광자에너지를 유효에너지로 결정하였다. 결정된 유효에너지를 NIST의 물의 질량에너지흡수계수 자료의 광자에너지에 대응시켜서, 물의 질량에너지흡수계수는 0.03273 cm2/g(32.73 cm2/kg)으로 얻었다. 얻어진 물의 질량에너지흡수계수(32.73 cm2/kg)를 물 흡수선량 1 Gy에 나누어 광자에너지플루언스는 0.03055 J/cm2으로 산출하였다.

Reduction of Vacuum Sublimation by Ion Beam Treatment for e-beam Deposited SiC Films

  • We present the low temperature (${\leq}1,000^{\circ}C$) vacuum sublimation behavior of an e-beam evaporative deposited on a SiC film and a method to reduce the vacuum sublimation through an ion beam process. The density of the SiC film deposited using the e-beam evaporation method was ~60% of the density of the bulk source material. We found that the sublimation became appreciable above ${\sim}750^{\circ}C$ under $1.5{\times}10^{-5}$ torr pressure and the sublimation rate increased with an increase in temperature, reaching ~70 nm/h at $950^{\circ}C$ when the coated sample was heated for 5 h. When the film was irradiated with 70 keV N+ ions prior to heating, the sublimation rate decreased to ~23 nm/h at a fluence of $1{\times}10^{17}\;ions/cm^2$. However, a further increase in fluence beyond this value or an extended heating period did not change (decrease or increase) the sublimation rate any further.

Development of long-term irradiation testing technology at HANARO

  • As the High Flux Advanced Neutron Application Reactor (HANARO) has been recently required to support new R&D relevant to future nuclear systems requiring a much higher neutron fluence, the development of irradiation capsule technology for long-term irradiation testing was performed in three steps (3, 5, 10 dpa). At first, several design improvements of a standard capsule were suggested based on a failure analysis of the capsule and successfully applied for irradiation testing at HANARO at up to eight reactor operation cycles equivalent to 3 dpa. Based on a schematic stress analysis of the vulnerable parts of the previous capsule, an optimized design of the capsule was made for 5 dpa irradiation. The newly designed capsule was safely out-pile tested up to 450 days, which was equivalent to 5 dpa irradiation in the reactor. The test results were submitted to the Reactor Safety Review Committee of HANARO and irradiation testing for 5 dpa was approved. The capsule was also successfully out-pile tested to evaluate the possibility of irradiation testing for 10 dpa. For a higher neutron fluence exceeding 10 dpa, new capsule technologies, including a new capsule that has a different bottom design and neutron flux boosting capsule, were also suggested.

핵임계사고시(核臨界事故時)에 있어서 속중성자선량(速中性子線量)의 해석(解析) (Fast Neutron Dosimetry in Criticality Accidents)

  • 핵임계사고시(核臨界事故時)에 방출(放出)되는 속중성자(速中性子)가 산란중성자(散亂中性子)로 중첩(重疊)되어 있는 상태(狀態)에서 방사화(放射化) 및 발단방사화검출기(發端放射化檢出器)를 이용(利用)하여 속중성자(速中性子)를 측정(測定) 및 해석(解析)할 수 있는 한 방법(方法)을 제안(提案)하였으며 이 측정(測定)에 있어서 주요인자(主要因子), 즉(卽) 몇개의 발단방사화검출기(發端放射化檢出器)에 대(對)한 평균핵반응단면적(平均核反應斷面積)과 중성자당선량환산계수(中性子當線量換算係數)를 전자계산기(電子計算機)로 계산(計算)하였다. 그 결과(結果) 핵분열중성자(核分裂中性子)의 스펙트럼 측정(測定)에는 발단(發端)에너지가 높은 검출기(檢出器)가 유리(有利)한 것에 반(反)해 발단(發端)에너지가 낮은 것은 산란매질(散亂媒質)이 없는 핵임계장치(核臨界裝置)의 사고시(事故時)에 있어서 속중성자(速中性子)의 시적분선속밀도(時積分線束密度) 측정계(測定計) 유용(有用)한것 같았다. 그리고 유황(硫黃)의 (n, p) 핵분열(核分裂)에 대(對)한 평균단면적(平均斷面積)은 핵분열(核分裂) 중성자(中性子)의 해석적(解析的) 표현식(表現式)에 무관(無關)한 것 처럼 보였다 .그밖에 중성자당(中性子當) 선량환산계수(線量換算係數)의 변화(變化)는 핵분열(核分裂) 중성자(中性子) 스펙트럼의 해석적(解析的) 표현식(表現式)과 핵분열상태(核分裂形態)에 따라 민감(敏感)하게 변화(變化)되지 않은 것 같았다.
