This study investigated the effect of gum arabic (GA) combined with microbial transglutaminase (TG) on the functional properties of porcine myofibrillar protein (MP). As an indicator of functional property, heat-set gel and emulsion characteristics of MP treated with GA and/or TG were explored under varying NaCl concentrations (0.1-0.6 M). The GA improved thermal gelling ability of MP during thermal processing and after cooling, and concomitantly added TG assisted the formation of viscoelastic MP gel formation. Meanwhile, the addition of GA decreased cooking yield of MP gel at 0.6 M NaCl concentration, and the yield was further decreased by TG addition, mainly attributed by enhancement of protein-protein interactions. Emulsion characteristics indicated that GA had emulsifying ability and the addition of GA increased the emulsification activity index (EAI) of MP-stabilized emulsion. However, GA showed a negative effect on emulsion stability, particularly great drop in the emulsion stability index (ESI) was found in GA treatment at 0.6 M NaCl. Consequently, the results indicated that GA had a potential advantage to form a viscoelastic MP gel. For the practical aspect, the application of GA in meat processing had to be limited to the purposes of texture enhancer such as restructured products, but not low-salt products and emulsion-type meat products.

This study was investigated optimal conditions which were necessary to prepare emulsion of four component systems by the Microfluidizer. Squalane, isopropyl myristate, PPG-15 stearyl benzoate ester were used as an oil and POE(20) sorbitan monolaurate, POE(20) sorbitan monopalmitate, POE(20) sorbitan monostearate, glycerine were selected as a cosurfactant and surfactant. The emulsion was affected by the operating pressure, the recycle frequency and oil, surfactant, cosurfactant phase. The operating pressure and recycle frequency increased, the droplet diameter of emulsion decreased and was constant later. In this study, the optimal pressure and recycle frequency were 1400 bar, 4 cycles. The droplet size was the smallest when the concentration of glycerine was 30 wt.%. As the oil phase is increased, the size is increased.

Lately, the length of tunnel, the number of large-long tunnel over three lanes are steeply increased because of the request for high speed and straight road. Therefore, the maximization of excavation efficiency is needed in tunnel construction. Bulk Emulsion explosives charging system is the spearhead equipment using the radio remote control $&$ mechanization system compare with a traditional method Cartridge type. This study introduced the bulk emulsion explosives which is new method in tunnel blasting and verified the efficiency of bulk emulsion explosives for long-large tunnel. And we tried to compare Cartridge type efficiency with bulk emulsion explosives efficiency by the field test.

Self-emulsifiable polyethylene (PE) wax was prepared using acrylic acid grafted PE wax with potassium hydroxide and various emulsifiers for the economic production of PE wax emulsion. Modification reaction completion was confirmed that the peak from carbonyl group of acrylic acid disappeared and the new peak from carboxylic acid salts appeared in the FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrum data. Self-emulsifiable properties of the modified PE wax were investigated by the emulsion size and the stability of wax emulsion without any additional emulsifiers. According to self-emulsifiable properties, the emulsion size and stability were varied on the concentration and structure of the emulsifier. The greater emulsion concentration and hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) characteristics of the emulsifier resulted in the smaller emulsion size and better emulsion stability. In addition, the use of emulsifiers mixture was more effective to obtain smaller size and uniform distribution of emulsion than that of single emulsifier in PE wax modification reaction. Especially, modified PE wax with OAE-5 and LAE-15 emulsifiers mixture shows excellent performance in terms of the smallest emulsion size ($4.34{\mu}m$) and emulsion stability.
Bulk Emulsion blasts using mechanized charging system, which is generally used in foreign countries, have recently introduced and gradually increased in Korea. The Bulk Emulsion are safe and able to increase the charging density for improvement of fragmentation and advancement especially in tunneling, and minimizing environmental problem. Because of less toxic gas generation, the explosives are called, namely ech-friendly products. There are two kinds of Bulk Emulsion; one is for open cut and the other is for tunneling. According to features of blast sites and its purpose, the compositions are different, but the principle is the same. In this study, trial blasts using Bulk Emulsion for tunneling had executed at 10 sites in Korea. The major result of the major job-sites is the following. First of all, compared with cartridge explosive, Bulk Emulsion was able to increase its charging density up to $35{\sim}60%$, to decrease the blast holes to approximately $10{\sim}30%$ down, and the advancement was improved up to $8{\sim}20%$ and also 30% up in its fragmentation. Toxic gas production after cartridge blasting showed 34.44ppm of its CO. Bulk Emulsion, however, showed 20.13ppm, which was 58.45% production of the cartridge explosive, and NOx was below 2ppm. The mechanized charging system of Bulk Emulsion should be applied to large sized tunnel blasting, long advanced tunnel which can secure the advancement of over $4{\sim}5m$, and the sites required finishing rapidly.
In this study, nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of Polygonum aviculare (P. aviculare) extract was prepared and skin permeability of the nano-emulsion was evaluated. Nano-emulsion was prepared using homogenizer and microfluidizer by the high-energy method. The droplet size and loading efficiency of nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of P. aviculare extract were determined. The mean droplet size was 238 nm and the loading efficiency was more than 98%. The size distribution of nano-emulsion was a monodispersed form and nano-emulsion was more stable than that of using typical emulsion without using the microfluidizer. The in vitro skin permeation study of nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of P. aviculare extract was carried out using Franz diffusion cells. Compared to 1,3-butylene glycol, nano-emulsion showed greater values of cumulative permeation of ethyl acetate fraction from P. aviculare extract. These results indicate that the stability and skin permeability of nano-emulsion containing ethyl acetate fraction of P. aviculare exerting anti-oxidative and anti-aging activities were enhanced.
Epoxy compound was synthesized from bisphellol-A with epichlorophydrine. Epoxy compound and siloxane were emulsified conjugative one or another. The water repellency of silk fabrics was also highly improved by the treatment of epoxy-siloxane mixed emulsions containing stannic chloride and zirconium oxychloride. The maximum wrinkle recovery was obtained from the fabrics treated under the condition 2.5%-epoxy-siloxane emulsion at 16$0^{\circ}C$. The breaking elongation, the reflectance, the tensile strength and the bending properties of silk fabrics were not degraded severely by the treatment of epoxy-siloxane emulsion.
The polyoxyethylene compounds were added into the photographic emulsion during the physical ripening of photo sensitive silver halide crystal in this emulsion. The polyoxyethylene compounds improved the photographic properties of the film to a great extent increasing the photo sensitivity and decreasing the fog density.
The green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer has been studied UV-Vis absorption band of 9-methvl-5,5'-diphenyl-3,3'-bis(3-sulfopropyl)benzoxazolo carbocyanine triethyl ammonium salt in methanol solution and 10% methanol containing 10$^{-2}$ M KCl. the products were observed at 502nm and 540nm(J-band), respectively. The maximum spectral sensitivity of sensntizing silver halide emulsion showed at 546nm. In conclusion, benzoxazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as a green-sensitizing dye for the photographic emulsion.
