  • This study applied BS replacement mortar's ERCO to see what impact it has on moisture evaporation and contraction changes, and resulted in the following. Depending on the rate of change in length according to the cure method of BS replacement mortar, high-strength areas were shown to have a bigger increase in the rate of change in length than regular or low-strength areas, and differences in rate of change in length due to ERCO cure methods were shown to be slight. For rate of changes in mass, on the whole there was an increase in the order of dry curing, cover curing, 7-day water curing, and28-day water curing. A comprehensive view says that after removal of test piece specimens, ERCO application did not expect a sufficient curing effect in the BS area.

  • For the entire world, due to the increased risks of explosion and terrorisms, damages on human life and properties have been increased. Regarding this issue, research on high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composite (HPFRCC) with the protecting performance for the building structures or military facilities against explosion or bombing has been increased (important). Among a series of the research, using emulsified refined cooking oil(ERCO) to reduce the autogenous shrinkage may cause some adverse effect on performance of the mixture such as increased viscosity, decreased fluidity, air content, and strength. Hence, in this research, based on the optimum design of HPFRCC induced by previous research, the influence of ERCO adding timing and dosage on autogenous shrinkage and fundamental properties were analyzed. As a result, it was revealed that 0.5% of ERCO should be added right after the mixing is most effective for the quality of HPFRCC such as fluidity, strength development and autogenous shrinkage reducing.

  • Recently, because of the terrorisms or warfare, the damages of human life or facilities have been increased. Hence, the Korean government launched the research group for high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composite (HPFRCC) with increased demanding on protecting and anti-explosive structures. Therefore, in this research, to apply the HPFRCC on military facilities with optimum performance on workability and performance, the fundamental properties and reduction of autogenous shrinkage of HPFRCC with various combinations of steel and organic fiber and emulsified refined cooking oil (ERCO) were evaluated. As a result, based on the comprehensive analysis, for favorable workability, strength, and autogenous shrinkage, 1.5 % of combined fiber of short steel fiber and long organic fiber and 0.5 % of ERCO was suggested as an optimum conditions.

  • Currently, in South Korea, because of reducing the construction period or treating wasted water, there are some cases of missing wet curing for concrete structure even though for high strength concrete. This air curing conditions is considered to cause increased possibility of compressive strength decrease, and increasing drying or autogenous shrinkages. As a solution of shrinkage of concrete, The authors' research team conducted the research on improving durability of concrete with decreasing autogenous shrinkage by adding the oil or fat to induce the saponification. Therefore, in this research, the influence of curing method on compressive strength, shrinkage on evaporation rate of high strength mortar including high volume supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) was evaluated depending on various curing methods such as air curing, drying after painting emulsified refined cooking oil (ERCO), and drying after 7 and 28 days' wet curing. The experimental result showed the air curing method caused approximately 50% of decreased compressive strength and 1.9 times of increased shrinkage rather than the 28-day-wet curing method, thus it was known that the wet curing significantly influences on performance of high strength mortar using high volume SCMs. However, the ERCO painting curing caused decreased performance of concrete rather than drying after 7 days curing while it caused improved performance of concrete than entire period air curing.
