This paper empirically examines the relationship between outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) of Korean manufacturing firms and the servicification of domestic employment using a firm-level panel data. In this study, considering the issue of low productivity in the Korean service sector, we categorize service employment into core and non-core services and investigate their relationship with OFDI using the firm-fixed effects model. The empirical results show that the share of core service employment exhibits a positive correlation with the extensive OFDI. On the other hand, the share of non-core service employment, which is expected to generate relatively low value-added, does not show a significant relationship with the extensive OFDI. When we divide the samples based on host countries and the type of subsidiaries, the impact on servicification varies depending on the technological capabilities of host countries and their participation in global value chains. Our study suggests that Korean manufacturing firm's internationalization strategies may facilitate a transition from labor-intensive employment, like the cases in advanced countries, to technology-intensive employment through OFDI and other means.

Such strategies and legal foundation can only be developed from a complete knowledge of the current status of human resources in the LIS and related industries. This study, therefore, conducted research on the basic employment status, employment environment, and an overall analysis of related issues, in order to address policy implications on the effectiveness of human resource development in the LIS field. This research included the current status of policy environments that involve social environment, and related institutions and laws, and human resources developments as well as the current requirements of librarians in the field, based on a demand survey of LIS employment. It was found that first, there are three distinguishable factors in LIS employment: a feminization of librarianship, an increase in temporary posts, and a high entering ratio into the library workplace. Second, while there were only little differences in the given tasks between full-time and temporary employees, the differences in salary and welfare were considerably larger. Third, field requirements for librarian education included a mentoring system with field experts, short-term internships, and librarian apprenticeships, while job requirements included internship or apprenticeship, language skills, various license acquisition, and career management. Fourth, librarians with licenses for related organizations held 20% more librarian licenses overall.

This paper studied balanced regional development focused on employment in Korea, by analyzing regional disparity between regional and industrial employment. A Gini-coefficient decomposition method and Panel Granger causality test were conducted, using raw data of the Census on Establishments reported by the Statistics Korea. The regional and industrial disparity of employment, based on the Gini-coefficient decomposition method, have increased by year. However, the growth rates of disparity are on the decrease. Most of employment disparity occurred from regional disparity between SMA (Seoul Metropolitan Area) and Non-SMA. Industrial disparity are occurred mainly by the service industry. The amount of contribution to the whole disparity of inter/intra regional employment was differed by each industrial sector. Also the causal relationship between employment growth of manufacture and that of service industry was analyzed by Panel Granger causality test. In national level, the employment growth in manufacture industry has conduced that in service industry. On the other hand, in the Non-SMA, only the employment growth in manufacture industry has augmented that in service industry. In conclusion, to reduce employment disparity, the strategy for balanced regional development should be emphasized. Different strategies are needed across regions and industries. Basically creating new job in the Non-SMA is inevitable. In view of stable employment, manufacture industry is more desirable rather than service industry.

This study investigated the relationships between stress-coping strategies and the mental health of college students from health related and non-health related departments by developing an efficient managerial indicator using student lifestyle guidance and employment guidance. Results indicated that there are differences in stress factors between general characteristics and departments. Hope management was used the most for stress-coping strategies for health related departmental students and emotional management was used the most for stress-coping strategies for non-health related departmental students. Compulsion scored high for health related departmental students in regards to mental health while fear and hostility scored high for non-health related departmental students. Results also showed that active stress-coping strategies and paranoia were negatively correlated, while passive stress-coping strategies and many mental health substructure were positively correlated. In conclusion, negative influences on mental health is the reason for instances where stress-coping strategies were not pertinent. Therefore colleges and professors should consider developing a program which can appropriately manage and regulate college students stress and thereby allow students to actively participate with benefits from college lifestyle guidance and employment guidance.
