Compared with the research results in Japan and the United States, this shows large difference. Korean wives; work time is excessively too long while the time for leisure and psysiological time is too short, which means the life style of Korean wives ti too simple and monotonous. 2) Social demographic variables(such as work status, education, income, wive's relative income rate, family type. family number, the younger child's age, and etc. )and variables connected with employment (such as employed work time and employment motivation) significantly differentiate the time use. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of personality traits of the middle aged on quality of life while mediated by self-concepts such as self-efficacy and self-derogation, as well as while moderated by subjective socio-economic variables such as economic status, social activities and employment. To verify the conceptual causality model and moderating effects of contextual variables, we analysed 353 cases out of purposively collected 400 cases from a medium sized city. As results, first, conscientiousness of personality traits positively affected quality of life of the middle aged while mediated by self-concepts. Second, neuroticism of personality traits negatively affected quality of life while mediated by self-concepts. Third, agreeableness of personality traits did not eventually affect quality of life, although affected negatively on self-efficacy and positively on self-derogation. Fourth, socio-economic variables such as economic status, social activities and employment moderated various paths in the model, which indicated dynamics of internal variables were affected by contextual variables.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the general characteristics and the variety of family life experiences related to the life satisfaction of multicultural families with school-aged children. Data were drawn from the first wave of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey conducted in 2010 and developed by the National Youth Policy Institute. Further, the sample for this study consisted of 95 multicultural families who met the requirements. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the t -test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression using SPSS ver. 18.0. The main results showed that family life experiences that were made up of 5 domains, specifically time, leisure, household economy, health, and child education had a broad range of levels. In addition, family life experiences differed according to the general characteristics of multicultural families with school-aged children, such as mother's employment status, number of children, father's employment status and education level, and family composition. Lastly, their life satisfaction was significantly predicted by the father's employment status and health, children's age, children's education, and leisure in the order of significance. These findings suggested the need to expand the social intervention range for multicultural families with school-aged children, particularly in terms of family leisure and children's school life adaptation.

We also analyzed the factors that affected the number of poverty dimension and the probability of belonging to the poor or not in 3,159 elderly households including 474 poor households and 2,685 middle class households. First, in poor households, the employment poverty rate was the highest and the housing poverty rate was the lowest. In middle class households, the relation poverty rate was the highest and the employment poverty rate was the lowest. Second, in poor households, correlation between asset poverty and relation poverty had the highest coefficient of .205 and asset poverty and housing poverty had the lowest coefficient of .149. In middle class households, the correlation between income poverty and relation poverty had highest coefficient of -.290 and employment poverty and relation poverty had the lowest coefficient of .038. Third, in poor households, the number of average poverty dimension was 4.30, but the number of average poverty dimensions of middle class households was 2.310. Fourth, the variable affecting the number of poverty dimensions in poor households were gender, age, level of education, marital status; however, the significant variables were gender, education level, marital status, income poverty in the middle class households. A series of analyses of data from the 2013 Korean Household Finance and Welfare Survey on the economic resources of single-parent households were conducted. One of the major findings was that in a comparison between male-headed households and female-headed households, the levels of assets and income in female-headed households were lower than those in male-headed households. The labor income in male households was almost two times higher than that in female households. Housing conditions with respect to male households were more secure and better than those in female households. The factors influencing the levels of economic resources in single-parent households varied in terms of the type of economic resources. Gender, employment status, family characteristics and household income were statistically significant factors with respect to the levels of assets in single-parent households. The level of household income was influenced by gender, education, employment status and the number of household members. The effect of employment status on housing conditions was significant.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how work-family spillover differed by employment status of married women and to identify factors related to the differences. This study drew a sample of 332 self-employers, 181 unpaid family workers, and 1,053 wage workers from the 2014 Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families. It was found that negative work-family spillover did not differ by employment status of married women. However, positive work-family spillover was found the lowest in family workers. The regression analysis showed that the difference remained after controlling socio-demographic characteristics, average working hours, and the number of days off per week. The factors related to negative spillover were age, the presence of young children, working hours, and the number of days off. Findings from this study suggest that family workers are most disadvantaged in terms of work-family spillover. Yet there is no policy developed for them. Family policy needs to take them into account in planning and implementing services.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine physical health and depression by women's employment status and role satisfaction, and to identify significant predictors for women's health status. Method: With a cross-sectional, correlational study design, a sample of study was consisted of 181 women who were employed or not employed whose child was attending an elementary school through convenience sampling. Data were collected with a structured self-administered questionnaire and analyzed by $X^2$-test, t-test, 2-way ANCOVA and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS program. Result: Employed women had poorer physical health than that of nonemployed women and women who had greater satisfaction as a parent reported better physical health and lower level of depression than who had lower satisfaction with covariates. Predictor for better physical health after controlling for covariates was being not employed, greater satisfaction with worker's role if employed, and greater satisfaction with parent's role. Women who had lower level of depression reported greater satisfaction with their social roles, but occupancy of multiple roles and role satisfaction as worker were not related to depression. Conclusion: Role quantity and role quality seem to be very important factors to maintain better physical and psychological well-being in women.
