  • The controllability and stability of power systems can be increased by Flexible AC Transmission Devices (FACTs). One of the FACTs devices is Interline Power-Flow Controller (IPFC) by which the voltage stability, dynamic stability and transient stability of power systems can be improved. In the present paper, the convenient operation and control of IPFC for transient stability improvement are considered. Considering that the system's Lyapunov energy function is a relevant tool to study the stability affair. IPFC energy function optimization has been used in order to access the maximum of transient stability margin. In order to control IPFC, a Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) and PI controller have been used. The utilization of the new controller is based on the emotion-processing mechanism in the brain and is essentially an action selection, which is based on sensory inputs and emotional cues. This intelligent control is based on the limbic system of the mammalian brain. Simulation confirms the ability of BELBIC controller compared with conventional PI controller. The designing results have been studied by the simulation of a single-machine system with infinite bus (SMIB) and another standard 9-buses system (Anderson and Fouad, 1977).

  • In this paper, we introduce the LED emotional lighting system realized with the aid of both intelligent algorithm and RGB LED combined with White LED. Generally, the illumination is known as a design factor to form the living place that affects human's emotion and action in the light- space as well as the purpose to light up the specific space. The LED emotional lighting system that can express emotional atmosphere as well as control the quantity of light is designed by using both RGB LED to form the emotional mood and W LED to get sufficient amount of light. RBFNNs is used as the intelligent algorithm and the network model designed with the aid of LED control parameters (viz. color coordinates (x and y) related to color temperature, and lux as inputs, RGBW current as output) plays an important role to build up the LED emotional lighting system for obtaining appropriate color space. Unlike conventional RBFNNs, Fuzzy C-Means(FCM) clustering method is used to obtain the fitness values of the receptive function, and the connection weights of the consequence part of networks are expressed by polynomial functions. Also, the parameters of RBFNN model are optimized by using PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization). The proposed LED emotional lighting can save the energy by using the LED light source and improve the ability to work as well as to learn by making an adequate mood under diverse surrounding conditions.

  • In this paper, we propose a story generation system using multi emotional agents. The proposed multi emotional agents are equipped with multiple emotional model so that it can be used as individually personalized agents that can generates unique storylines. Basically these kinds of multi emotional agents are easily employed as Avatar or NPC in computer games. In the proposed system, emotional agents are used as actor or actress whose characters and preferences are different each other. The storylines generated using the proposed system are realistic since the characters are emotional as humans.

  • In this paper, an emotion training method using emotional adaptation is proposed to improve the performance of the existing emotion recognition system. For emotion adaptation, an emotion speech model was created from a speech model without emotion using a small number of training emotion voices and emotion adaptation methods. This method showed superior performance even when using a smaller number of emotional voices than the existing method. Since it is not easy to obtain enough emotional voices for training, it is very practical to use a small number of emotional voices in real situations. In the experimental results using a Korean database containing four emotions, the proposed method using emotional adaptation showed better performance than the existing method.

  • This study examined changes of both psychological and physiological emotional responses according to change of the PMV (predicted mean vote) in the heating and the cooling air conditions. For this purpose, the changes of PMV were induced by the heating and cooling operations of the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems. In addition, positive/negative and arousal/relaxation were measured as the participant's psychological emotional responses, and HR (heart rate) was measured as the participant's physiological emotional responses. As a result, in same range of the PMV, both psychological and physiological emotional-responses were changed by air conditioning. It is suggested that occupant's emotional responses would depend on the operational conditions of heating and cooling in indoor thermal environments, and both psychological and physiological emotional response should be considered when occupants try to match the indoor thermal environments to their thermal expectations.

  • In this paper, we designed and developed an Emotional Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) processor. Multi-speaker emotional speech synthesis technology that can express multiple voice colors and emotional expressions have been developed, and we designed Emotional SSML by extending SSML for multiple voice colors and emotional expressions. The Emotional SSML processor has a graphic user interface and consists of following four components. First, a multi-speaker emotional text editor that can easily mark specific voice colors and emotions on desired positions. Second, an Emotional SSML document generator that creates an Emotional SSML document automatically from the result of the multi-speaker emotional text editor. Third, an Emotional SSML parser that parses the Emotional SSML document. Last, a sequencer to control a multi-speaker and emotional Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine based on the result of the Emotional SSML parser. Based on SSML which is a programming language and platform independent open standard, the Emotional SSML processor can easily integrate with various speech synthesis engines and facilitates the development of multi-speaker emotional text-to-speech applications.

  • This study performs erection of a pendulum hanging at a free end of an arm by rotating the arm to the upright position. A mathematical model of a rotary inverted pendulum system (RIPS) is derived. A brain emotional learning based intelligent controller (BELBIC) is designed and used as a controller for swinging up and balancing the pendulum of the RIPS. In simulations performed in the study, a pendulum is initially inclined at $45^{\circ}$ with respect to the upright position. A simulation is also performed for evaluating the adaptiveness of the designed BELBIC in the case of system variation. In addition, a simulation is performed for evaluating the robustness of the designed BELBIC against a disturbance in the control input.

  • In the past, the important factors of buying the sports shoes for the customers were price and comfort. However these days, the sports shoes are considered as a part of fashion and may not satisfy the customers because their emotional preference have not been properly considered in design phase. The customers' desire and expectation for unique design are growing. Thus, the development of sports shoes not only considering the anthropometric foot characteristics but also satisfying the customers emotional preference is needed. In this study, the basic data on the customer's emotional preference to the design of sports shoes were obtained using human sensibility ergonomics approach and formed a data base. Also, we developed ail interface that can be used for the customers to select the emotionally preferred sports shoes.
