임상간호사의 자아효능감, 간호조직문화 및 감정노동 (Self-efficacy, Nursing Organizational Culture and Emotional Labor in Clinical Nurses)

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship among self-efficacy, nursing organizational culture and the emotional labor in clinical nurses. Methods: The subjects of this study were the clinical nurses working at 3 general hospitals in D city. The self-reported questionnaires were administered to 293 clinical nurses and data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 19.0. Results: The levels of self-efficacy, nursing organizational culture and emotional labor of the subjects were revealed moderate to high. Significant explanatory variables of the degrees of self-efficacy included age, career of work and job satisfaction and nursing organizational culture included position, nursing method and job satisfaction and emotional labor included education, number of patient and job satisfaction. Correlations between self-efficacy and emotional labor and nursing organizational culture and emotional labor were negative while self-efficacy and nursing organizational culture were positive. Conclusion: The findings suggested the intervention program in order to improve job performance and job satisfaction, develop effective nursing organizational culture and reduce role conflicts among clinical nurses.

Risk Factors Associated with Emotional and Conduct Behavior Problems of UK Female Adolescents: Comparative Exploration between Non-Stepfamilies and Stepfamilies

  • Adolescents from stepfamilies have been considered as at-risk group of mental and behavioral problems. This study aims to determine whether there is a group difference of emotional or behavior disturbance between young people in step and non-stepfamilies and whether risk factors linked to emotional and behavior symptoms of young people in stepfamilies are different from those of girls in non-stepfamilies. The study used 'the Mental Health of Children and Young People in Great Britain, 2004 (MHCYP 2004)'. In the MHCYP 2004, the Rutter Problem Behavior Questionnaire, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) were administered to parents, teachers, and children drawn from young people aged 5-17 living in private households in England, Scotland (including the Highlands and Islands) and Wales. The total of 2,471 samples of aged 13 through 17 from them were selected for this study. The selected data was analyzed using SPSS. The findings showed group differences in emotional and behavior symptoms between young people in step and non-stepfamilies: Young people from stepfamilies were more emotional and have behavioral disturbances than those from nonstepfamilies. The result also confirmed the different risk factors associated with emotional behavior problems. The study supports that professionals need to develop effective treatment and preventive approaches designed for young people in stepfamilies who may have different risk factors different from those in non-stepfamilies.

임상간호사의 의사소통능력과 감성지능이 조직성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Clinical Nurses' Communication Competency and Emotional Intelligence on Organizational Performance)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of clinical nurses' communication competency and emotional intelligence on organizational performance. Methods: Two hundred and fifty nurses who currently work at two superior general hospitals in Seoul, Korea, participated in the study. Data were collected between March and April, 2015. Global Interpersonal Communication Competence Scale (GICC-15) developed by Hur (2003) was used to measure communication competency. Wong & Law's emotional intelligence scale (WLEIS) developed by Wong & Law (2002) was used to measure emotional intelligence. Organizational performance scale developed by Brewer & Selden (2000) was used to measure organizational performance. Results: The results were summarized as follows: 1) The means of communication competency, emotional intelligence and organizational performance were 3.61, 4.84, and 3.59 respectively. 2) There were positive correlations between communication competency, emotional intelligence and organizational performance. 3) The variance of organizational performance accounted for was 26.0% (adj $R^2=.26$). Conclusion: These findings suggest that developing human resources in nursing is important for better organizational performance.

The Moderating Role of Emotional Intelligence on the Relationship Between Conflict Management Styles and Burnout among Firefighters

  • Background: While the organizational factors that account for firefighters' burnout have been extensively explored, the individual factors related to how they regulate interpersonal conflicts and emotions remain to be investigated. Previous research has demonstrated the association between emotional intelligence and conflict management styles and burnout, but no study has looked at the interrelationships among these factors in high-risk sectors. The present exploratory study aimed to fill this research gap by investigating the relationships between conflict management style, emotional intelligence and burnout in a sample of firefighters. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 240 French firefighters. Measures comprised validated scales of conflict management styles, emotional intelligence and burnout. Results: Results showed that the integrating conflict style reduced burnout. They also revealed the effects of emotion regulation on burnout, whereby the awareness and management of one's own emotions reduced burnout. Moreover, awareness of one's own emotions moderated the relationship between integrating conflict resolution style and burnout, whereby the effect of integrating style on reduced burnout was higher when awareness of one's own emotions was high. Conclusion: These results reveal that strategies used by firefighters to regulate their emotions in order to meet the emotional demands specific to their job are important for reducing the emotional exhaustion component of burnout. Training programs for conflict and emotion management are needed to preserve the mental health of firefighters and ensure the safety of interventions.

[논문철회]소방공무원의 직무스트레스와 감정노동이 이직의도에 미치는 영향 ([Retracted]Effects of emotional labor and job stress on turnover intention among firefighters)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of firefighters' job stress and emotional labor on their turnover intention, and analyze the main factors impacting turnover intention in this context. Methods: Based on a descriptive survey study design, we administered a structured questionnaire among 231 firefighters at one fire station in G metropolitan city from November 13 to 27, 2020. Results: Regarding job stress, participants showed differences based on marital status (p<.05), health status (p<.001), total service period (p<.05), and assignment (p<.05). For emotional labor, a significantly higher rate was observed for female than male firefighters (p<.05), with differences also observed in age (p<.001), health status (p<.001), total service period (p<.05), rank (p<.001), and assignment (p<.05). Further, for turnover intention, significant differences were noted with respect to age (p<.001), education (p<.01), health status (p<.001), total service period (p<.01), work unit (p<.05), rank (p<.001), and assignment (p<.05). A significant correlation was found between job stress and emotional labor and turnover intention. Regarding the factors affecting turnover intention, significant differences were noted based on education, rank, job stress, and emotional labor; the explanatory power was 53.9% (F=13.806, p<.001). Conclusion: Tailored support programs must be developed to ease firefighters' job stress and reduce their emotional labor to facilitate effective manpower management and reduce firefighters' turnover intention.

콜센터 상담원의 감정소진이 고객지향성 및 직무만족에 미치는 영향 (Impact of the Customer Orientation and Job Satisfaction as a Result of the Consultant's Emotional Exhaustion at the Call Center)

  • 본 연구는 콜센터에서 업무특성상 감정노동(emotional labor)을 수행하는 상담원들이 감정소진(emotional exhaustion)의 결과로 고객에 대한 친절의 욕구, 성취감의 욕구 저하가 초래되어 고객지향성 및 직무만족에 영향을 주는 요인에 대하여 연구하였다. 콜센터 상담원의 감정소진이 고객지향성 및 직무만족에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 연구모형과 가설을 설정하였다. 가설검증을 위해 서울지역 콜센터 상담원을 대상으로 회수된 설문지 157부를 실증분석에 이용하였다. 본 연구에서는 해당 상담원의 감정소진이 고객지향성 및 직무만족에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 검증되었다. 상담원의 감정소진의 정도를 줄이기 위해서는 업무수행시 시간적 압력을 낮추고 업무의 자율성과 권한을 부여하여야 하며, 유관부서의 적극적인 지원과 관리자들과 상담원간의 지속적인 커뮤니케이션을 통하여 감정소진을 저하 시키는 요인을 제거하고 개선시켜서 업무수행의 주체인 상담원의 감정소진 경험을 최소화 시켜야 한다는 중요성을 본 연구에서 제시하였다. 본 연구는 콜센터 운영에 있어서 상담원의 감정소진이 고객지향성 및 직무만족에 부정적인 영향 요소라는 것을 제시하였다는 데 의의 가 있다.

지자체 공공도서관 직원의 감정노동이 직무만족 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 - 경기도 3개 지역 공공도서관을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Effect of Emotional Labor Experienced by Local Public Library Staffs on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment: The Case of Three Regional Public Libraries in Gyeonggi-do)

  • 본 연구는 공공도서관 소속 직원들을 대상으로 업무 형태별 감정노동과 직무만족, 조직몰입 특성 차이와 감정노동이 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보았다. 이를 위해 경기도에 소재한 3개 도시의 20개 공공도서관에 근무하는 직원 357명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사된 설문 내용은 SPSS 27.0을 사용하여 빈도분석과 요인분석, 타당성분석, 신뢰도분석, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 사서직이 사서직 이외의 직원들보다 감정노동을 더 많이 겪고 있고, 민원응대 업무 포함 여부에 따라 감정노동의 빈도가 높아지고, 직무만족 전체와 직무만족의 업무조건 만족에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 직무만족의 심리반응 만족의 경우, 도서실 자료 업무가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이용자 서비스라는 측면에서 사서들의 업무에서 발생하는 감정노동은 사서의 직무만족과 조직몰입에 긍정적인 영향과 부정적인 영향을 모두 미칠 수 있는 양면성을 가지고 있다. 따라서 감정노동의 빈도와 감정부조화는 낮추고, 감정노동의 다양성은 높일 수 있는 실제적인 방안이 이용자 응대 매뉴얼과 향후 정신건강 증진 프로그램 개발에 포함되어야 할 것이다.

감정노동에 따른 공항서비스 직원의 심리적 메커니즘에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Airline Service Employees' Psychological Mechanism according to the Emotional Labor)

  • Purpose - Service employees who work at airline check-in counters in airport are typically employed to undergo emotional labor. Emotional labor of airport service employees is an important managerial issue that must be solved. This study attempts to examine the underlying mechanism of emotional labor on turnover intention. It focuses on the consequences of emotional labor of service employees. The purpose of this study is to examine and empirically test how the two-types of emotional labor(deep-acting & surface-acting) of service employees differently affect the level of their job satisfaction and job stress. It also investigates the relationship between job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention. For this purpose, first, this study identified the structural relationship between emotional labor, job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention. Second, it investigated the mediating effects of job satisfaction between deep-acting and turnover intention. Research design, data, and methodology - To empirically test these structural relationships among research variables, data were collected by a interview from service manager of domestic airline companies and survey from 179 service employees who are working at single domestic airline check-in counters in airports in Korea using a self-rating questionnaire with total 19 items dealing with emotional labor, job satisfaction, job stress, and turnover intention. To test the research hypotheses, collected data were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structure equation model (SEM). Results - This study obtains meaningful research results. The results from this study are as follows. First, deep-acting has a positive effect on job satisfaction, whereas, deep-acting has a negative effect on job satisfaction. Second, surface-acting has a positive effect on job stress, whereas, the effects of surface-acting on job satisfaction did not show statistically significant result. Also, job satisfaction has partial mediating roles to the relationship between deep-acting and turnover intention. Conclusions - Based on the results of this empirical study, emotional labor of service employees is one of the key factors influencing their job satisfaction and job stress. In particular, deep-acting is the important factor in emotional labor to increase job satisfaction and reduce job stress. Finally, theoretical, managerial implications, and research limitations are mentioned in discussion parts.

간호사의 감성지능이 자기효능감과 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향 - 자기효능감의 매개효과 검증 - (The Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Self-Efficacy and Job Stress of Nurses - Mediating Role of Self-Efficacy -)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship among emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and job stress of nurses. Method: Data was collected from convenient sample of 265 nurses who work for a university hospital in a city. The Questionnaire measured the level of emotional intelligence, self-efficacy and job stress of nurses. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, scheffe' test, pearson's correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression. Result: The mean score of emotional intelligence was 3.41(${\pm}.37$), self-efficacy was 3.27(${\pm}.45$) and job stress was 3.35(${\pm}.65$). There were significant differences on self-efficacy according to age, marital status and education level. And there were significant differences on job stress according to age, working unit. It was a significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and self-efficacy. The emotional intelligence and self-efficacy were significantly negative correlation with job stress. The emotional intelligence explained 24.8% of self-efficacy and 1.9% of job stress and self-efficacy explained 2.7% of job stress. And the self-efficacy was showed a mediate variable between emotional intelligence and job stress. Conclusion: To decrease job stress, nursing managers ought to develop the emotional intelligence and self-efficacy of nurses, reinforce as a mediating role between emotional intelligence and job stress

근로능력이 부족한 여성한부모의 공공부조서비스 이용 경험 (Single Mothers' Experiences of Public Support Service: The Case Study of Single Mothers Who are Lack of Work Ability)

  • 본 연구는 국민기초생활보장수급자중 근로능력이 부족한 것으로 판정된 여성한부모의 공공부조서비스 이용경험을 탐색하여 개선 방안을 모색해보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 20대~50대의 미성년자녀가 있는 수급자 5명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 연구결과 이들은 일을 통해 가계에 보탬이 되고 자녀에게 가난한 어머니로서의 이미지를 벗어나고자 수없이 시도하였으나 좋지 않은 건강과 일을 배우는데 드는 비용, 자녀양육부담, 그리고 근로능력판정상의 점수 등으로 본인의 계획을 관철하지 못하였다. 이러한 과정이 반복되면서 가난한 어머니로서의 스트레스와 우울감이 강화되고, 또 자녀에게 부적절한 훈육과 양육으로 투사되었다. 이는 공공부조서비스 이용 과정에서 더 강화되는 경향이 있었다. 결국, 자격 평가 기준에 따른 좌절의 반복과 심신의 건강의 악화로 근로무능력 상태가 장기화되면서 수급자로 만성화되는 경향을 보였다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 연구결과를 통해 결론에서 근로능력 판정제도와 관련된 정책 및 실천적 제언을 제시하였다.
