  • This study investigates the relationship between voice quality measurements and emotional states, in addition to conventional prosodic and cepstral features. Open quotient, harmonics-to-noise ratio, spectral tilt, spectral sharpness, and band energy were analyzed as voice quality features, and prosodic features related to fundamental frequency and energy are also examined. ANOVA tests and Sequential Forward Selection are used to evaluate significance and verify performance. Classification experiments show that using the proposed features increases overall accuracy, and in particular, errors between happy and angry decrease. Results also show that adding voice quality features to conventional cepstral features leads to increase in performance.

  • The rise of music resources has led to a parallel rise in the need to manage thousands of songs on user devices. So users have a tendency to build playlist for manage songs. However the manual selection of songs for creating playlist is a troublesome work. This paper proposes an auto playlist generation system considering user context of use and preferences. This system has two separated systems; 1) the mood and emotion classification system and 2) the music recommendation system. Firstly, users need to choose just one seed song for reflecting their context of use. Then system recommends candidate song list before the current song ends in order to fill up user playlist. User also can remove unsatisfied songs from the recommended song list to adapt the user preference model on the system for the next song list. The generated playlists show well defined mood and emotion of music and provide songs that the preference of the current user is reflected.

  • The objective of the study is to discriminate EEG(electroencephalogram) due to emotional changes. Emotion was evoked by the series of auditory stimuli which were selected from the natural sounds in the sound effect collection of compact disc. Seventeen university students participated and experienced positive or negative emotions by six auditory stimuli with intermission between stimuli. Temporal EEG ($T_3$, $T_4$, $T_5$, and $T_6$) was recorded at the same time and a subjective test was performed on the eleven point scales after the experiment. The maximum and minimum scores of the EEG among six stimuli EEG were analyzed for discrimination of emotion. The EEG signals were transformed into feature objects based on scalar intervention model coefficients. Auditory stimulus was considered as intervention variable. They were classified by Discriminant Analysis for each channel. The features showed results with the best classification accuracy of 91.2 % in $T_4$ for auditory stimuli. This study could be extended to establish an algorithm which quantifies and classifies emotions evoked by auditory stimulus using time-series models.

  • A large number of indices are produced from human sensibility ergonomic data, which are accumulated by the project "Study on the Development of Web-Based Database System of Human Sensibility and its Support". Since the research in this field will be increased rapidly, it is necessary to automate the index processing of human sensibility ergonomic data. From the similarity between indexation and summarization, we propose the automation of this process. In this paper, we study on extraction of keywords, information types and expression features that are considered as basic elements of following techniques for automatic summarization: classification of documents, extraction of information types and linguistic features. This study can be applied to automatic summarization system and knowledge management system in the domain of human sensibility ergonomics.rgonomics.

  • Modern people argue that mental health care is necessary because of various factors such as unstable income and conflict with others. Recently, equipments capable of measuring electrocardiogram (ECG) in wearable equipment have been widely used. In the case of overseas, it can be seen as a medical assistant [14]. By using such functions, studies are being conducted to distinguish representative emotions (joy, sadness, anger, etc.) with objective values. However, most studies are increasing accuracy by collecting complex bio-signals in a limited environment. Therefore, we examine the factors that have the greatest influence on the change and discrimination of biometric information on each stimulus.

  • According to the growth of the service industry, stresses from emotional labor workers have been emerging as a social problem, thereby so-called the Emotional Labor Protection Act was implemented in 2018. However, insufficient substantial protection systems for emotional workers emphasizes the necessity of a digital stress management system. Thus, in this paper, we suggest a stress detection system for customer service representatives based on deep learning facial expression recognition. This system consists of a real-time face detection module, an emotion classification FER module that deep-learned big data including Korean emotion images, and a monitoring module that only visualizes stress levels. We designed the system to aim to monitor stress and prevent mental illness in emotional workers.

  • This paper proposes an efficient method for automatically distinguishing various facial expressions. To recognize the emotions from facial expressions, the facial images are obtained by digital cameras, and a number of feature points were extracted. The extracted feature points are then transformed to 49-dimensional feature vectors which are robust to scale and translational variations, and the facial emotions are recognized by statistical pattern classifiers such Naive Bayes, MLP (multi-layer perceptron), and SVM (support vector machine). Based on the experimental results with 5-fold cross validation, SVM was the best among the classifiers, whose performance was obtained by 50.8% for 6 emotion classification, and 78.0% for 3 emotions.

  • In this paper, a novel method is proposed using color and pattern information for recognizing some emotions included in a fertile. Here we use 10 Kobayashi emotion to represent emotions. - { romantic, clear, natural, casual, elegant chic, dynamic, classic, dandy, modem } The proposed system is composed of feature extraction and classification. To transform the subjective emotions as physical visual features, we extract representative colors and Patterns from textile. Here, the representative color prototypes are extracted by color quantization method, and patterns exacted by wavelet transform followed by statistical analysis. These exacted features are given as input to the neural network (NN)-based classifiers, which decides whether or not a textile had the corresponding emotion. When assessing the effectiveness of the proposed system with 389 textiles collected from various application domains such as interior, fashion, and artificial ones. The results showed that the proposed method has the precision of 100% and the recall of 99%, thereby it can be used in various textile industries.

  • People are tending to buy products through the Internet rather than purchasing them from the store. Some of the consumers give their feedback on line such as reviews, replies, comments, and blogs after they purchased the products. People are also likely to get some information through the Internet. Therefore, companies and public institutes have been facing this situation where they need to collect and analyze reviews or public opinions for them because many consumers are interested in other's opinions when they are about to make a purchase. However, most of the people's reviews on web site are too numerous, short and redundant. Under these circumstances, the emotion scanning system of text documents on the web is rising to the surface. Extracting writer's opinions or subjective ideas from text exists labeled words like GI(General Inquirer) and LKB(Lexical Knowledge base of near synonym difference) in English, however Korean language is not provided yet. In this paper, we labeled positive, negative, and neutral attribute at 4 POS(part of speech) which are noun, adjective, verb, and adverb in Korean dictionary. We extract construction patterns of emotional words and relationships among words in sentences from a large training set, and learned them. Based on this knowledge, comments and reviews regarding products are classified into two classes polarities with positive and negative using SO-PMI, which found the optimal condition from a combination of 4 POS. Lastly, in the design of the system, a flexible user interface is designed to add or edit the emotional words, the construction patterns related to emotions, and relationships among the words.
