폐목재 탄화물로 제조한 파티클보드의 물성과 포름알데히드 방출량 (Properties and Formaldehyde Emission of Particleboards Fabricated with Waste Wood Charcoal)

  • Particleboard(PB) is one of the most commonly used wood-based composite materials, which can be prepared by utilizing any kind of low grade wooden materials like waste wood which contains formaldehyde itself. Therefore, PB have been of considerable interest, in issues regarding the formaldehyde emission problems. Wood wastes are carbonized by the carbonization kiln at $800^{\circ}C$. Charcoal has been known as a formaldehyde adsorber. Thus, in this study, we fabricated PBs with carbonized waste particles cores, to examine the possibility of developing less formaldehyde emitting boards. The physical and mechanical properties were evaluated by Korean Standard (KS F 3104). The moisture content of PBs ranged from 6.76 to 8.36%. Internal bond strengths decreased with the increase in the content of carbonized core particles. Formaldehyde emission showed minimum value at 25% of carbonized core particles, but the emission values increased when the amount of carbonized cote particles increased. When 25% of carbonized core particles was used, PBs met KS F 3104 standard properties.

경유자동차에서 배출되는 NO2/NOX 비율 특성 (Experimental Study on the NO2/NOX Ratio from Exhaust of Diesel Vehicles by Chassis Dynamometer)

  • Nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) is an important urban pollutant in Korea. Expecially, diesel vehicles are responsible for the most traffic rated nitrogen oxide ($NO_X$) emission, including nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$). Though nitrogen oxide ($NO_X$) emission from vehicle was applied a strict enforcement of emission standard, the specific $NO_2$ fraction in $NO_X$ ($NO_2/NO_X$) from various types of diesel vehicles was not understood. In order to investigate the fraction of $NO_2/NO_X$, the vehicle emission study was carried out at the facility of Transport Pollution Research Center (TPRC), National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER), Korea. Three different types of diesel vehicles(VAN, SUV, passenger) were tested on the NIER driving mode. The result of $NO_2/NO_X$ ratio was over 0.1 for all test vehicles and the highest $NO_2$ emission was observed at the van vehicle. The observation was showed that the emission trend of $NO_2/NO_X$ for passenger and SUV vehicles were inversely proportional. Also, as the emission standard has been strengthen, the emission rate of $NO_2$ has been decrease.

이동식 배출가스 측정장비를 이용한 소형 경유 자동차의 실도로 질소산화물 배출특성 분석 (Evaluation of On-Road NOx Emission from a Light Duty Diesel Vehicle using a Portable Emissions Measurement System)

  • The purpose of this research is to quantify the compliance of on-road emission from a light duty diesel vehicle, based on a comparison to emission regulation standard. $NO_x$, CO and THC emissions were measured using a portable device on a selected real-world driving route with a length of approximately 22 km. On-road measurements were repeated by 10 times on a same route to reflect variability in traffic conditions. A test route was divided into 22 road links with length of 1 km to analyze emission results with higher spatial resolution. The average emissions of $NO_x$, CO and THC over total travel distance, which is approximately 220 km, were quantified to be in compliance with emission regulation standards. Under higher spatial resolution, $NO_x$ concentration exceeded a standard in 92 links out of 220 links. The extended time in stop period and the stop-and-go driving cycle were identified as two important reasons for increased $NO_x$ emissions in observed cases. Heavy traffics showed higher $NO_x$ emissions than free flow. These results indicate that the real-world vehicle emissions might exceed the compliance level associate with traffic conditions. Another interesting observation of this research is that the on-road emission characteristics can be independent to the average speed of road links with higher spatial resolution. Variability in on-road emission might not be fully described by solely relying on an average speed, because variability in traffic conditions and road conditions can influence on real-world vehicle emissions.

자동차연료 기준강화에 따른 대기오염물질 배출량 저감효과 (A Study on Reduction Effects of Air Pollutant Emissions by Automotive Fuel Standard Reinforcement)

  • The air pollutants from vehicle exhaust gas are affected by many factors including fuel qualities, engine and vehicle technologies, driving patterns. In particular, fuel qualities and after-treatment devices could directly affect the emission level of pollutants. The pollutant reduction characteristics that caused by enforced fuel quality standard were analyzed. Three types of test fuel were selected in accordance with Korean automotive fuel standard in 2006, 2009, 2012 and used for vehicle emission test in chassis dynamometer. European COPERT correction equation of fuel impact was considered as reference information to quantify the vehicle emission test results. The contribution rates of exhaust emission by COPERT correction equation showed that aromatic compounds and oxygen contents in gasoline fuel was most important. In case of diesel fuel, cetane index and polycyclic aromatic compounds accounted for the greater part. The exhaust emission effects by COPERT correction equation revealed that CO and VOC was increased 0.86%, 1.57% respectively in after 2009 gasoline when compared to before 2009 gasoline fuel. In case of light-duty diesel vehicle CO, VOC and PM were decreased in range of 3~7%. The result from this study could be provided for developing future fuel standards and be used to fundamental information for Korean clean air act.

비도로용 건설기계의 오염물질 배출량 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Estimation of Exhaust Emission by Nonroad Construction Equipments)

  • The demand of diesel engine on the construction equipment has been rapidly increased because of high thermal efficiency and fuel economy. The exhaust emission from nonroad vehicles equipped with diesel engine such as construction equipment, ship, and agricultural equipment, etc. Which are known to be harmful to human health and environment, has not been regulated in our country. But the regulation for nonroad vehicle has been already progressed in advanced country. So we investigated the contribution ratio of air pollution by construction equipment in order to establish the exhaust emission management strategy for nonroad vehicle. Based on the statistical data for construction equipment, 5 kinds of equipment are selected and tested in the engine dynamometer to determine the emission factor. And the amount of air pollutant from construction equipment are calculated by using of the emission factor and recommended exhaust emission standard for construction equipment.

시멘트 그라우트재에서 $Cr^{6+}$용출특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Leaching Characteristics of $Cr^{6+}$ in Cement Grout Materials)

  • 그동안 고분자계열 약액에 비하여 상대적으로 독성이 약한 시멘트 계열 약액이 환경에 미치는 영향을 경미하게 다루어졌으나 최근 일본에서 시멘트계열 약액을 사용한 공사현장에서 발암물질인 6가 크롬의 용출로 일본 건설성에서는 이에 대한 규정을 발효하고 시행하여 엄격히 관리하고 있으나 우리나라에서는 상대적으로 이에 대한 연구가 부족한 실정이다 본 연구에서는 다양한 현장조건에서의 시멘트계 그라우트재에서의 6가 크롬 용출특성을 파악하기 위해, 현장 배합비를 기초로 하여 다양한 현장조건에 따른 용출실험을 통하여, 시멘트계 그라우트재의 6가 크롬 용출 특성을 파악하였다. 먼저 원재료인 시멘트의 6가 크롬 함유량 실험을 한 결과 보통 포틀랜트 시멘트에서 22.1 mg/kg으로 다른 재료에 비해 가장 많이 함유되어 있었으며, 호모겔 그리고 샌드겔에서의 용출실험 결과 폐기물 공정시험법에 의할 경우 규제기준인 1.5 kg/L를 대체적으로 만족하였으나, 토양오염공정시험법에 의할 경우 특히 보통 포틀랜트 시멘트가 4.85 mg/kg으로 ‘가’ 지역의 우려기준인 4 mg/kg보다 높은 값을 나타내었다. 모의 주입장치를 이용한 실험결과 물시멘트 비와 주입압이 증가함에 따라 몰드 밖으로 나오는 배출액 중의 6가 크롬의 용출량이 커지는 경향을 나타내었으며, 주입압이 4 이상일 경우 수질오염보전법상의 규정인 0.5 mg/L를 초과하여 검출되었다. 최근 pH4의 산성비 및 매립지의 산생성 단계에서 pH 5이하의 침출수에 의한 그라우트재에서의 6가 크롬의 용출특성을 알아보기 위한 pH에 따른 6가 크롬의 용출경향을 실험한 결과 강산성 및 강염기 상태에서 6가 크롬의 용출량이 급격히 증가하는 경향을 보여 그라우트재가 주입되는 환경에 따라 6가 크롬의 용출량이 증가할 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 그라우트재가 해안 또는 매립지에 적용될 경우 해수와 침출수에 의한 강도의 변화를 살펴보기 위해 실험한 결과 초순수 중에서 양생 시켰을 때 보다 강도발현 현저히 저하되었으며, 시멘트 종에 따라서는 ‘보통포틀랜트 시멘트>마이크로 시멘트>슬래그’ 시멘트의 순으로 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 강도의 저하로 인한 오염물질의 누출 및 6가 크롬의 용출을 증가시킬 수 있다는 것을 짐작할 수 있다. 이와 같은 결과를 통하여, 그라우트재의 종류에 따라 6가 크롬의 용출량은 현재 규제치를 초과하여 용출되어 질 수 있는 가능성이 있으며, 과압 또는 과량의 주입이 6가 크롬의 용출량을 증가시킬 수 있다고 할 수 있었다. 또한 일반 현장과 다른 특수한 현장에서는 강도 및 pH에 따른 6가 크롬의 용출량을 고려한 재료 선택 및 배합비가 마련되어져야 할 것으로 판단되어진다.

소형승합차량 및 RV차량의 휘발성 유기 화합물 배출특성 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the VOCs Emission Characteristics by the Light Duty Diesel and LPG Fueled Vehicles)

  • Emissions from automobiles have long been considered a prime source of pollutants involved in smog formation and ozone production. Especially VOCs are associated with serious environmental problems such as photo-chemical smog as well as human health effects. Since motor vehicles are a major source of VOCs, estimating of emission from mobile source is the most important factor to control VOCs. VOCs are emitted from various pollution like motor vehicles, mobile and stationary source that has characteristics of toxicity, cancer-causing, bio-accumulation, durability in air and diffusion can exert a bad influence upon human health and environment. However we don't have any standard or regulation about VOCs emissions. This study is summarized as VOCs emission characteristics from in-use light-duty diesel and LPG fueled vehicles. The vehicle exhaust-gas test mode is CVS cycle and nier-10 cycles that developed on EPA and National Institute of Environmental Research. TO-14 method (Toxic Organic) was chosen for VOCs analysis from EPA in USA. This study results will be useful when make a emission factor and rule making of emission standard about domestic VOCs emission for the improve to air condition.

소비자 환경친화도 변화의 오염감축효과에 관한 소고(小考) (A Note on the Effects of the Greener Market on Pollution Emission)

  • 환경친화적인 소비행태란 어떤 제품의 환경친화도가 높아지면 그 제품에 대한 지불용의도 커지는 것을 의미한다. 이러한 소비행태를 지닌 소비자들로 구성된 시장을 green market이라고 부른다. green market에 대한 거의 대부분의 기존 연구는 단위배출기준(unit emission standard), 환경세 등 환경정책수단의 효과를 분석하였다. 향후 소비자들의 환경친화적인 성향은 지속적으로 강화될 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 수직차별화 모형을 바탕으로 소비자 환경친화도의 변화가 오염물질 배출량에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 먼저 제품의 필수재적인 성격이 강하여 모든 소비자들이 제품을 구매하는 경우에는 소비자들의 환경친화적인 성향이 높아지면 오염물질 배출량은 감소한다. 이는 소비자들의 환경친화도가 변화하여도 총생산량에는 아무런 변화가 없기 때문이다. 반면 일부 소비자들이 제품을 구입하지 않는 시장의 경우에는 환경친화적인 성향이 낮은 소비자들의 환경친화도가 상대적으로 크게 상승하면 오염물질 배출량이 증가할 수도 있다 이는 무엇보다도 환경친화적인 성향이 낮은 소비자들의 환경친화도가 상대적으로 크게 상승함에 따라 제품의 총생산량이 증가하기 때문이다.

Quantum Jump Approach to Stimulated Absorption and Emission

  • In this paper a new theory is presented to treat the problem of stimulated absorption and emission of photons between energy levels from the standpoint of discrete quantum jumps. In order to implement the theory a scheme to avoid the quantum Zeno effect is proposed. Numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate that this approach does not contradict the principles of the standard wave mechanics. It is shown that with this approach one can obtain photon observation statistics as well.

  • As the air pollution caused by diesel vehicles goes worse, so non-road vehicles exhaust gas standard is strict in an foreign countries. In this paper, we calculate the amount of emission rates from Korean railroad lines and train kinds. Air pollutants emissions are calculated using by US EPA baseline in-use emission rates which is divided line-haul and switch mode. The calculated HC emissions on the railroad diesel vehicles are 1,209.1 t from Korean railroad lines.
