The far-ultraviolet (FUV) H2 and C IV emission images and spectra of Orion Eridanus Superbubble (OES) is hereby presented. The OES seems to consists of multiple phase through the detection of highly-ionized gas and pervasive neutral hydrogen. The former is traced by hot gas while the latter is traced by cold medium. A spectral image made with H2 fluorescent emission shows that the spatial distribution of hydrogen molecule is well correlated with the dust map. The model spectra was taken from a photodissociation region (PDR) radiation code which find a best suitable parameter such as hydrogen density, gas temperature and incident uv intensity of the radiation field. C IV emission is caused by intermediate temperature ISM about 10^4.5 K~10^6 K. Therefore we could get more clear evidence to reveal the structure of OES. Feature of spectra for the each sub region is also presented and discussed. The data were obtained with the Far-Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (FIMS) and the whole data handling were followed by previous FIMS analysis.

We present high-resolution near infrared (IR) spectra of two candidate planetary nebulae (PNe) that were serendipitously found toward the Galactic center (GC). Our spectra obtained using GNIRS on Gemini North reveal strong Br ♑ and He I recombination lines. In one of the targets, we confidently detect Pa ♌ emission. Based on Br ♑ and Pa ♌ lines, we estimate a foreground reddening to be Av=27 mag, which confidently puts this object at the GC distance. Along with the presence of highly excited emission lines such as [S IV], [Ne III], [Ne V], and [O IV] detected in the mid-IR spectra from the Spitzer Space Telescope, and the extended emission in the Pa ♋ narrow-band image from the Hubble Space Telescope, this makes it the first spectroscopically confirmed PN in the GC.
This study was undertaken to obtain the fundamental knowledges on the weld deflects and it's realtime monitoring method. The paper describes the results of high speed photography, acoustic emission (AE) detection and plasma light emission (LE) measurements during $CO_2$ laser welding of STS 304 stainless steel and A5083 aluminum alloy in different welding condition. The characteristic frequencies of plasma and keyhole fluctuations at different welding speed and shield gases were measured and compared with the results of Fourier analyses of temporal AE and LE spectra, and they had considerably good agreement with keyhole and plasma fluctuation. Namely, the low frequency peaks of AE and LE shifted to higher frequency range with the welding speed increase, and leer the argon shield gas it was higher than that in helium and nitrogen gases. The low frequencies dominating in fluctuation spectra of LE probably reflect keyhole opening instability. It is possible to monitor the weld bead deflects by analyzing the acoustic and/or plasma light emission signals.
The authors have an extensive study of photoluminescences for Zn-polar and O-polar faces of single-crystalline ZnO bulks. In the photoluminescence (PL) spectra at 10 K, Zn-polar and O-polar faces show a common emission feature: neutral donor-bound excitons and their longitudinal-optical (LO) phonon replicas are strong, and free excitons are very weak. However, in the PL spectra at room temperature (RT), Zn-polar and O-polar faces show extremely different emission characteristics: the emission intensity of Zn-polar face is 30 times larger than that of O-polar face, and the band edge of Zn-polar face is 33 meV red-shifted from that of O-polar face. The temperature dependence of photoluminescence indicates that the PL spectra at RT are closely associated with free excitons and their phonon-assisted annihilation processes. As a result, it is found that the RT PL spectra of Zn-polar face is dominated by the first-order LO phonon replica of A free excitons, while that of O-polar face is determined by A free excitons. This is ascribed that Zn-polar face has larger exciton-phonon coupling strength than O-polar face.
The emission and excitation spectra of $cis-[Cr(cyclam)(NCS)_2]NCS$ (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) taken at 77 K are reported. The infrared and visible spectra at room temperature are also measured. The vibrational intervals due to the electronic ground state are extracted from the far-infrared and emission spectra. The ten pure electronic origins due to spin-allowed and spin-forbidden transitions are assigned by analyzing the absorption and excitation spectra. Using the observed transitions, a ligand field analysis has been performed to determine the bonding properties of the coordinated ligands in the title chromium(Ⅲ) complex. According to the results, it is found that nitrogen atoms of the cyclam ligand have a strong σ-donor character, while the NCS ligand has medium σ- and π-donor properties toward chromium(Ⅲ) ion.
In generally, the guest-emitter doped system has been reported to give a bright electroluminescence(EL). The purpose of using doped system is to improve for increasing lifetime and efficiency, and tuning multicolor light. This indicates an enhanced electron-hole recombination rate in emitting layer. The purpose of this study is to obtain the high performance EL devices for flat panel display with red emission. We fabricated EL devices using the guest-host system. where DCM derivatives were taken as a dopant. The devices are fabricated in multilayer system with various concentration of the dopant (red light emitting dye). We measured the I-V characteristics and EL spectra from these devices. and we compared with photoluminescence(PL) quantum yield among the DCM derivatives. The emission mechanism of devices is participated in energy transfer. The energy transfer from these hosts to DCM generates luminescence spectra that vary from yellow red to red, depending on DCM derivatives. Absorption and emission spectra of organic materials composing the devices depend on the emission materials doped with the DCM derivatives. We demonstrated that the high EL efficiency can be achieved by doping host material with DCM derivatives and molecular steric structures
I present an analysis of the long-term evolution of the fluxes of six active galactic nuclei (AGN) - 0923+392, 3C 111, 3C 273, 3C 345, 3C 454.3, and 3C 84 - in the frequency range 80 - 267 GHz using archival calibration data of the IRAM Plateau de Bure Interferometer. Our dataset spans a long timeline of ~14 years with 974 - 3027 flux measurements per source. We find strong (factors ~2-8) flux variability on timescales of years for all sources. The flux density distributions of five out of six sources show clear signatures of bi- or even multimodality. Our sources show mostly steep (alpha~0.5-1), variable spectral indices that indicate outflow dominated emission; the variability is most probably due to optical depth variations. The power spectra globally correspond to red-noise spectra with five sources being located between the cases of white and flicker noise and one source (3C 111) being closer to the case of random walk noise. For three sources the low-frequency ends of their power spectra appear to be upscaled in spectral power by factors ~2-3 with respect to the overall powerlaws. We conclude that the source emission cannot be described by uniform stochastic emission processes; instead, a distinction of "quiescent" and (maybe multiple) "flare" states of the source emission appears to be necessary.

The model compounds, 8-methoxypsoralen-CH2O(CH2)n-adenine (MOPCH2OCnAd, n=2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 10) in which 5 position of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) is linked by various lengths of polymethylene bridge to N9 of adenine. UV absorption spectra are identical with the sum of MOPCH2OC3 and adenine absorption spectra. Solvent effects on the UV absorption and fluorescence emission spectra indicate that the lowest excited singlet state is the $(\pi${\rightarrow}$\pi*)$ state. The spectral characteristics of the fluorescence of MOPCH2OCnAd are strongly dependent upon the nature of the solvents. The fluorescence emission spectra in aprotic solvents are broad and structureless due to the excimer formation through the folded conformation accelerated by hydrophobic ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interaction. Increasing polarity of the protic solvents leads to higher population of unfolded conformation stabilized through favorable solvation and H-bonding, and consequently to an increase in the fluorescence intensity, fluorescence lifetime, and a shift of fluorescence maximum to longer wavelengths. The decay characteristics of the fluorescence in polar protic solvents shows two exponential decays with the lifetimes of 0.6-0.8 and 1.6-1.9 ns in 5% ethanol/water, while MOPCH2OC3 shows 0.5 and 1.7 ns fluorescence lifetimes. The long-lived component of fluorescence can be attributed to the relaxed species (i.e., the species for which the solvent reorientation (or relaxation) has occurred), while the short-lived components can be associated with the unrelaxed, or only partially relaxed, species.
Distributed optical feedback by gain coupling in V-groove quantum-wire lasers is investigated using InGaAs/AlGaAs active materials grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). In order to avoid grating overgrowth during the fabrication of DFB structures, a newly developed constant MOCVD growth method is employed. Gain anisotropy in emission spectra near Bragg wavelength, resulting from optical feedback along the DFB direction, is clearly observed at room temperature.
