상향식 접근법에 의한 국내 시설재배 에너지부분의 온실가스 배출량 및 감축 잠재량 분석 (Greenhouse Gas Emission and Abatement Potential Analysis for the Korean Horticulture Energy Sector Using Bottom-Up Approach)

  • 상향식 접근법을 통한 국내 농업 시설재배부분의 온실가스 배출잠재량을 산정하고 이를 바탕으로 감축잠재량 및 감축한계비용을 도출하였다. 이를 위해 시설재배부분의 활동량을 정의하였고 국내의 각종 문헌 및 통계자료를 이용해 시설재배부분의 에너지원별 사용량을 추정하였다. 추정된 에너지사용량을 통해 에너지원별 원단위를 도출하고 이를 이용해 2030년까지의 온실가스 발생 잠재량을 산정하였다. 다음으로, 국내에서 고려하고 있는 감축수단별 감축효과 분석을 통해 감축수단별 감축잠재량 및 감축한계비용 분석을 수행하였다.

Imaging of Gastric Cancer Metabolism Using 18 F-FDG PET/CT

  • Aerobic glycolysis has been the most important hypothesis in cancer metabolism. It seems to be related to increased bioenergetic and biosynthetic needs in rapidly proliferating cancer cells. To this end, F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), a glucose analog, became widely popular for the detection of malignancies combined with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). Although the potential roles of FDG PET/CT in primary tumor detection are not fully established, it seems to have a limited sensitivity in detecting early gastric cancer and mainly signet ring or non-solid types of advanced gastric cancer. In evaluating lymph node metastases, the location of lymph nodes and the degree of FDG uptake in primary tumors appear to be important factors affecting the diagnostic accuracy of PET/CT. In spite of the limited sensitivity, the high specificity of PET/CT for lymph node metastases may play an important role in changing the extent of lymphadenectomy or reducing futile laparotomies. For peritoneal metastases, PET/CT seems to have a poorer sensitivity but a better specificity than CT. The roles of PET/CT in the evaluation of other distant metastases are yet to be known. Studies including primary tumors with low FDG uptake or peritoneal recurrence seem suffer from poorer diagnostic performance for the detection of recurrent gastric cancer. There are only a few reports using FDG PET/CT to predict response to neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy. A complete metabolic response seems to be predictive of more favorable prognosis.

Development of a Novel Sampling Technique for Natureal VOC Emissions

  • In recent years there have been growing interests in the potential environmental effects of global climate change. Of specific interests is the role that climate change may play in altering natural volatile organic compound.(NVOC) emissions from trees and the subsequent impact of this perturbation on air quality and ozone formation. A novel vegetation enclosure chamber method was designed and constructed of Tedlar in order to estimate more accurate and precise NVOC emission rates of either small whole plants or the branches of large trees. The enclosure chamber was initially tested in the laboratory and also successfully evaluated in the field. Overall precision for this enclosure was estimated as RSD<10%(n=9). The overall errors associated with the enclosure method in a laboratory system might be relatively small (say<$\pm$15%); however, they might be rather large(say$\pm$40%) in a field-based system. Two consecutive samples were collected on each sampling day from the two pine species during the test period. Slash pine studies showed that the absolute percentage difference between the first and second samples varied from 0.33 to 29%. The percent differences between consecutive emission for loblolly pines varied from 0.74 to 24.2%.

Structural and Optical Properties of Yellow-Emitting CaGd2ZrSc(AlO4)3:Ce3+ Phosphor for Solid-State Lighting

  • Single-phase yellow phosphor, $CaGd_{2-x}ZrSc(AlO_4)_3:xCe^{3+}$ ($CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$), possessing cubic symmetry with varied $Ce^{3+}$ concentrations, was synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), excitation spectra, emission spectra, thermal quenching, and decay curves. The cubic phase of $CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor was confirmed via XRD analysis. The photoluminescence spectra of $CGZSA:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor demonstrated that the phosphor could be excited at the wavelength of 440 nm; a broad yellow emission band was centered at 541 nm. These results indicate that the phosphors are adequately excited by blue light and have the potential to function as yellow-emitting phosphors for applications in white light-emitting diodes.

  • 디젤 엔진에서 저압 배기재순환 시스템의 적용을 통한 질소산화물 저감과 연비 향상에 관한 효과를 확인하였다. 엔진의 정상 상태 및 과도 상태에서 시험이 진행되었으며, 차량상사를 통한 NEDC 모드 테스트를 위하여 별도의 제어로직도 개발되었다. 정상 상태의 시험결과에서 저압 배기재순환 시스템은 고압 배기재순환 시스템에 비하여 질소산화물 저감 및 연비 향상에 유리함을 확인하였고, NEDC 모드 테스트 결과로부터 배출가스의 증가없이 연비를 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Pyrolysis oil (PO), also known as Bio crude oil (BCO), has the potential to displace significant amounts of fuels that are currently derived from petroleum sources. PO has been regarded as an alternative fuel for petroleum fuels to be used in diesel engine. However, the use of PO in a diesel engine requires modifications due to low energy density, high water contents, low acidity, and high viscosity of the PO. One of the easiest way to adopt PO to diesel engine without modifications is emulsification of PO with the fuels that has higher cetane number. However, PO that has high amount of polar chemicals is immiscible with non polar hydrocarbons of diesel. Thus, to stabilize a homogeneous phase of diesel-PO blends, a proper surfactant should be used. In this study, a DI diesel engine operated with diesel and diesel-PO emulsions was experimentally investigated. Performance and gaseous & particle emission characteristics of a diesel engine fuelled by diesel-PO emulsions were examined. Results showed that stable engine operation was possible with the emulsions and engine output power was comparable to diesel operation.

  • This research investigates the life-cycle energy consumption of the windows used for the building's exterior cladding, and its environmental potential aspects by utilizing the LCA. The research scope has taken account of the entire life-cycle of the windows from the extraction of raw materials to its disposal, of which given sample building type is an apartment building. Results gained from the LCA of the windows as one of the steps in analysis reflects the current global interest and analysis trend towards the world's environmental issue on all fields of industry including the architectural industry, of which its newly established standards of architectural windows can further promote more environmentally sustainable factor compared to the previous analysis (focused more on energy efficiency assessment of the use stage).

  • Powder type electroluminescent device(P-ELD) in this study was prepared by printing method. P-ELDs were basically composed of phosphor, insulator and transparent conducting layer. The phosphor powder was prepared by sintering the mixture of ZnS as a host, Cu as an activator, and NaCl as a flux for co-activator and enhancement of growth of the phosphor particles. The phosphor layer was made by printing the paste of the cyanoethylpullan as a binder and the ZnS system phosphor powder. In order to evaluate the luminescence characteristics of ZnS P-ELD, applied voltage - luminance(V-L), frequency-luminance(f-L), and relative luminance spectra(L- .lambda.) characteristics were measured. The experimental results show that luminance increased with increasing the applied voltage and frequency. It can be explained in terms of the potential barrier formed between ZnS and CuS. Two emission peaks in luminance-wavelength spectra measured at applied voltage of 100 $V_{rms}$ were observed at 500nm as a primary peak and 460nm as a secondary peak, respectively.y.

NSGA-II Technique for Multi-objective Generation Dispatch of Thermal Generators with Nonsmooth Fuel Cost Functions

  • Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) is applied for solving Combined Economic Emission Dispatch (CEED) problem with valve-point loading of thermal generators. This CEED problem with valve-point loading is a nonlinear, constrained multi-objective optimization problem, with power balance and generator capacity constraints. The valve-point loading introduce ripples in the input-output characteristics of generating units and make the CEED problem as a nonsmooth optimization problem. To validate its effectiveness of NSGA-II, two benchmark test systems, IEEE 30-bus and IEEE 118-bus systems are considered. To compare the Pareto-front obtained using NSGA-II, reference Pareto-front is generated using multiple runs of Real Coded Genetic Algorithm (RCGA) with weighted sum of objectives. Comparison with other optimization techniques showed the superiority of the NSGA-II approach and confirmed its potential for solving the CEED problem. Numerical results show that NSGA-II algorithm can provide Pareto-front in a single run with good diversity and convergence. An approach based on Technique for Ordering Preferences by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is applied on non-dominated solutions obtained to determine Best Compromise Solution (BCS).

  • 본 연구의 목적은 온도 성층화와 농도 성층화의 효과가 HCCI 연소에서 압력상승률 저감과 배기가스에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것이다. 2단계 열발생이 생기는 디메틸에테르(Di-Methyl Ether, DME) 연료를 사용하였다. 수치계산은 멀티 존 모델과 상세 화학 반응 스킴을 이용하였다. 수치계산 결과, 온도 성층화와 농도 성층화는 연소기간을 길게 하여 압력상승률을 저감시키는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 농도 성층화의 폭이 너무 커지면 오히려 일산화탄소와 질소산화물이 증가하였으며, 연소 효율은 감소하였다.
