In this paper, an efficient switching pattern to equalize the size of transformer is proposed for a multi-level inverter employing cascaded transformers. It is based on the prior selected harmonic elimination PWM(SHEPWM) method. Because the maximum magnetic flux imposed on each transformer becomes exactly equal each to each, all transformers can be designed with the same size regardless of their position. Therefore, identical full-bridge inverter units can be utilized, thus improving modularity and manufacturability. The fundamental idea of the proposed switching pattern is illustrated and then analyzed theoretically. The validity of the proposed switching strategy is verified by experimental results.
Shunt active power filter is a complete current source which can provide an effective and adjustable solution for elimination of harmonic currents in power system. Its performance depends on strategy employed in reference current generation, control technique and topology of converter used in the design.[1-2]. In this paper Three Phase Six switch Z-source rectifier with active power filtering capability based on instantaneous reactive power theory is described. Thanking to the theory power factor and THD value are significantly improved. Experiment results and conclusions are presented.
This paper proposes a novel control strategy of SVC(Static var compensator) using cascade multilevel inverter. To control the reactive power instantaneously, the dq-dynamic system model is described and analyzed. A single pulse pattern based on the SHE(Selective Harmonic Elimination) technique is determined from the look-up table to reduce the line current harmonics and a rotating fundamental frequency switching scheme is applied to adjust the DC capacitor voltage at the scheme level. From the simulation, it is verified that this proposed control scheme make the dynamic control response of SVC fast, the current harmonics low, and the DC capacitor voltage balanced.
Speed and torque controls of permanent magnet synchronous motors are usually attained by the application of position and speed sensors. However, speed and position sensors require the additional mounting space, reduce the reliability in harsh environments and increase the cost of a motor. Therefore, many studios have been performed for the elimination of speed and position sensors. This paper investigates a novel speed sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed control strategy compensates a speed error through the difference between the calculated and measured reactive power. The proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation and experimentation.
This paper proposes a design method using PQR instantaneous power theory on the active power filter, unbalanced nonlinear load condition and unbalanced source voltage condition in three-phase four-wire systems. For reduction of current harmonics and neutral current, the control structure including repetitive controller is proposed and controller gain is designed. For fully-digital implementation, ramp comparison PWM method was adopted. Simulation results verify good performance of the proposed current control strategy on the shunt APFs.
This paper describes an intensive analysis of a harmonic identification algorithm in non-ideal voltages source systems. The dq-axis Fourier with a positive sequence voltage detector (DQFP) is a novel harmonic identification algorithm for active power filters. A compensating current control system based on repetitive control is presented. A design and stability analysis of the proposed current control are also given. The aim of the paper is to achieve a robustness of the harmonic identification in a distorted and unbalanced voltage source. The proposed ideas are supported by a hardware in the loop technique based on a $eZdsp^{TM}$ F28335 and the Simulink program. The obtained results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the harmonic identification and the control strategy for the active power filter in non-ideal systems.
The object of this paper is to review the fisheries subsidies of the major FFG(Fish Friends Group) which argue the elimination and the phasing-out, to compare with Korea's subsidies category and provide the basic information for planning of fisheries subsidies policy and the negotiation strategy in the future. The result from the comparative analysis of the subsidies between the major FFG showed that WWF(World Wildlife Fund) fisheries subsidies categories, with the exception of Marketing and Price Support Program which is similar to Korea in terms of the supporting type and methods, differ from those of Korea. Also, The unique type of WWF Fisheries Subsidies, which is beyond Korea's subsidies, are Direct Payment for Fishermen and Fishery Wokers, Capital & Infrastructure Support, Fishery Management and Protection, etc. In case of capital support and fisheries fuel, the payment method or other institutional backgrounds is somewhat different from each nation. On the base of this analysis, this paper is suggesting the direction of the Korea's Fisheries subsidies policy as follows ; First, developing new policy methods and supporting ways such as Direct Payment for Fisherman is needed. Second, Converting fisheries subsidies category expected to be classified to Red Amber into another type of non-negative subsidies should be carried out, demonstrating that these kinds of subsidies give no negative effect to the environment and the trade, Third, Reviewing the categorize system of Korea's subsidies and revising it according to international trends is necessary as well. In respect to WTO/DDA, the watchful analysis of Korea's fisheries program must be preceding in ahead of making the negotiation strategy. And Korea firstly need to stress the fact that, while the major FFG can directly pay for fisheries section, other nations have no choice but supporting in preferential tax or loan manner. Using this kind of strategy, it is may enlarge the negotiating power in the WTO/DDA to reflect fully Korea's position.
The most energy-demanding step of wastewater treatment is the aeration-dependent elimination of organic carbon. Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) offer an alternative strategy in which carbon elimination is conducted by anaerobic microorganisms that transport respiratory electrons originating from carbon oxidation to an anode. Hence, chemical energy is directly transformed into electrical energy. In this study, the use and stability of barcode-containing exoelectrogenic model biofilms under non-axenic wastewater treatment conditions are described. Genomic barcodes were integrated in Shewanella oneidensis, Geobacter sulfurreducens, and G. metallireducens. These barcodes are unique for each strain and allow distinction between those cells and naturally occurring wild types as well as quantification of the amount of cells in a biofilm via multiplex qPCR. MFCs were pre-incubated with these three strains, and after 6 days the anodes were transferred into MFCs containing synthetic wastewater with 1% wastewater sludge. Over time, the system stabilized and the coulomb efficiency was constant. Overall, the initial synthetic biofilm community represented half of the anodic population at the end of the experimental timeline. The part of the community that contained a barcode was dominated by G. sulfurreducens cells (61.5%), while S. oneidensis and G. metallireducens cells comprised 10.5% and 17.9%, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to describe the stability of a synthetic exoelectrogenic consortium under non-axenic conditions. The observed stability offers new possibilities for the application of synthetic biofilms and synthetically engineered organisms fed with non-sterile waste streams.
A single-stage deammonification with a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) that simultaneous nitritation, anaerobic ammonia oxidation (anammox), and denitrification (SNAD) occur in one reactor has been widely applied for sidestream of wastewater treatment plant. For the stable and well-balanced SNAD, a feeding strategy of influent wastewater is one of the most important operating factors in the single-stage deammonification SBR. In this study, single-stage deammonification SBR (working volume 30L) was operated to treat a high-strength ammonium wastewater (1200 mg NH4+-N/L) with different feeding strategies (single feeding and nine-step feeding) under the condition without COD. Each cycle of the step feeding involved 6 sub-cycles consisted of aerobic and anoxic periods for partial nitritation (PN) and anammox, respectively. Contrary to unstable performance in the single feeding, the step feeding showed better deammonification performance (0.565 kg-N/m3/day). Under the condition with COD, however, the nitrogen removal rate (NRR) decreased to 0.403 kg-N/m3/day when the Nine-step feeding strategies had an additional denitrification period before sub-cycles for PN and anammox. The NRR was recovered to 0.518 kg-N/m3/day by introducing an enhanced multiple-step feeding strategy. The strategy had 50 cycles consisted of feed, denitrification, PN, and anammox, instead of repeated sub-cycles for PN and anammox. The multiple-step feeding strategy without sub-cycle showed the most stable and excellent deammonification performance: high nitrogen removal efficiency (98.6%), COD removal rate (0.131 kg-COD/m3/day), and COD removal efficiency (78.8%). This seemed to be caused by that the elimination of the sub-cycles might reduce COD oxidation during aerobic condition but increase the COD utilization for denitrification period. In addition, among various sensor values, the ORP pattern appeared to be applicable to monitor and control each reaction step for deammonification in the multiple-step feeding strategy without sub-cycle. Further study to optimize the number of multiple-step feeding is still needed but these results show that the multiple-step feeding strategy can contribute to a well-balanced SNAD for deammonification when treating high-strength ammonium wastewater with COD in the single-stage deammonification SBR.
