홈노즐을 이용한 정전분무 확산 연소 특성에 관한 연구 (Characteristics of the electrospraying combustion using grooved nozzle)

  • Spray combustion characteristics of a conducting fuel electrospray have been studied for clean combustion technology. The multiplexing system which can retain the characteristics of the cone-jet mode is inevitable for the electrospray application. Charged micro droplets can be obtained in almost uniform size during operating the electrospray in the cone-jet mode. This experiment device set up the multiplexed grooved nozzle system with the extractor. Using the grooved nozzle, the stable cone-jet mode can be achieved at the each groove in the grooved mode. This electrospray system was applied to the diffusion combustion. It is the first step to discover the diffusion combustion characteristics of the electrospray. In case of the single grooved nozzle electrospray, the diffusion flames are occurred at each jet of grooved mode and they are quite stable. The exhaust gas analysis was indicated that there is the critical point which can make very stable diffusion combustion.

  • Spray combustion characteristics of the conducting fuel electrospray has been studied for clean combustion technology. The electrospraying multiplexed system which can maintain the characteristics of the cone-jet mode is able to obtain charged micro droplets with high flow rate. In addition, they have monodisperse distribution during operating the electrospray in the cone-jet mode. The multiplexed grooved nozzle system with the extractor was applied to this experimental device set up. The stable grooved mode can be generated by the grooved nozzle and this electrospray system was applied to the diffusion combustion. 고유량 정전분무를 위한 다중 홈노즐 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Multiplexed Grooved Nozzles for High Flow Rate Electrospray)

  • The electrospray operated in the cone-jet mode can generate highly charged micro droplets in an almost uniform size at low flow rates. Therefore, the multiplexing system which can retain the characteristics of the cone-jet mode is inevitable for the electrospray application. This experiment reports the multiplexed grooved nozzle system with the extractor. The effects of the grooves and the extractor on the performance of the electrospray were evaluated through experiments. Using the grooved nozzle, the stable cone-jet mode can be achieved at the each groove in the grooved mode. Furthermore, the number of nozzles per unit area is increased by the extractor. The multiplexing density is 12 jets per $cm^2$ at 30 mm distance from the nozzle tip to the ground plate. The multiplexing system for the high flow rate electrospray is realized with the extractor which can diminish the space charge effect without sacrificing characteristics of the cone-jet mode.

분무탑식 스크러버에서 이류체 정전분무에 의한 집진효율의 향상 (Collection Efficiency Enhancement of Spray Tower Scrubber by Introducing Electrospray with Two-flow Nozzle)

  • There have been a number of efforts to satisfy national emission regulations and reduce the amount of emitted air pollutants. There are several air pollution control devices, however, only wet scrubber is efficiently used to remove particulate matters and gaseous pollutants, even if it has minimum collection efficiency in the particle size range of $0.1{\sim}1{\mu}m$. This study aimed to improve the collection efficiency of a spray tower type scrubber by introducing an electrospray system with two-flow nozzle. We found that the collection efficiency of a spray tower type scrubber was similar to that of a conventional wet scrubber. However, installation of an electrospray system in the scrubber resulted in drastic further improvement of collection efficiency comparing to that of a conventional scrubber, which is 26%, 35.2%, and 45.1% at the liquid to gas ratio of 0.26 $L/m^3$ and 19.9%, 35.1%, and 42.5% at 0.34 $L/m^3$ for the applied voltage of -30 kV, -35 kV, and -40 kV, respectively. Therefore, we found that the introduction of an electrospray system is very effective to improve the collection efficiency of a spray tower type scrubber.

Development of Electrospray Micro Thruster with Super-Hydrophobic PTFE Surface Nozzle Treated by Ar and Oxygen Ion Beam

  • In this article, in order to fabricate polymer based electrospray device with super hydrophobic nozzle we use PTFE(polyfluorotetraethylene) plate and PMMA(polymethylmethacrylate). To obtain the super hydrophobic surface nozzle, PTFE surface is treated by argon and oxygen plasma treatment process. And evaluate the treated surface, perform measuring contact angle, SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) and AFM(Atomic Force Microscope). We compare the performance of the super hydrophobic PTFE surface nozzle with raw PTFE and PMMA surface nozzle. For the ion beam treated PTFE nozzle, the liquid doesn't overflow and it keeps initial position and meniscus shape. From these results, we expect in cease of superhydrophobic surface nozzle jetting becomes more stable and repeatable.

Electrospray technique for preparation of core-shell materials : A mini-review

  • During the last decade, electrospray (ES) techniques have been used as potential methods for preparing of core-shell materials. Depending on the architecture of nozzle and design of devices, the ES techniques includes monoaxial, coaxial, multiple coaxial nozzle ES and microfluidic ES devices. ES operates based on a basic principle, in which a spray of monodisperse droplets is formed by dispensing an electrically conductive liquid through a capillary charged to a sufficiently high potential. In review of many recent research papers, we take a closer look at ES techniques and their applications for fabrication of core-shell materials. Several advantages of ES technique compared with other methods were emphasized and it may be regarded as a potential tool for fabrication of core-shell materials current and near future.

  • Fecralloy is the promising materials for high temperature exhaust filtering system due to the excellent its oxidation resistance property. In this research, Fecralloy nanoparticles coated Fecralloy thin foil was prepared by a single nozzle electrospray system in order to increase surface area of Fecralloy foil. Fecralloy nanoparticles were fabricated by electrical wire explosion method in ethanol using Fecralloy wires as a source material. Electrospray modes with applied D.C voltages to Fecralloy colloidal solution were investigated to make a stable cone-jet mode. Coated layers with and without additional heat treatment were observed by FE-SEM (field emission-scanning electron microscope) and tape test for evaluating their adhesion to substrate were performed as well.

정전분무의 유체 물성치와 정전 매개변수 따른 분무특성 (Spray Characteristics according to Fluid Properties and Electric Parameters of Electrospray)

  • Electrospray is used in various industries because it can produce continuous and uniform droplets. However, it is difficult to find optimal spraying condition due to lack of data in various conditions. In this study, various conditions were divided into electric parameters and fluid property. The electric parameters set Nozzle to Substrate(NTS), nozzle diameters and the fluid property set viscosity and conductivity as conditions. In this study, it observes spray patterns, Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD) according to conditions. As a result, fluid properties had a greater effect on the cone-Jet mode than on the nozzle diameter, NTS, and flowrate. All of solutions have Stable cone-jet mode at voltage of 8.5 kV, NTS of 20 mm and nozzle diameter of 0.2 mm. SMD has 27% different depending on viscosity and conductivity. The increased flowrate and viscosity are rising break-up length and thickening jet also jet is thinned by increased conductivity. Experiments have confirmed that the jet is thickened by increased flowrate and viscosity, and that the jet is thinned by conductivity.

Preparation of Porous Nanostructures Controlled by Electrospray

  • Various solid structures were prepared by electrospray technique. In this process, liquid flows out from a capillary nozzle under a high electrical potential and is subjected to an electric field, which causes elongation of the meniscus to form a jet. In our study, by controlling the amount of polyvinyl pyrrolydone in precursor solution, the jet either disrupted into droplets for the formation of spherical particles or was stretched in the electric field for the formation of fibers. During the electrospray process, the ethanol solvent was evaporated and induced the solidification of precursors, forming solid particles. The evaporation of ethanol solvent also enhanced the mass transport of solutes from the inner core to the solid shell, which facilitated fabrication of porous and hollow structure. The network structures were also prepared by heating the collector.

노즐 형상에 따른 전기수력학 프린팅의 실험적 연구 (The Experimental Study of EHD Printing for Different Nozzle Shapes)

  • The shape of nozzle cross-section plays an important role in stabilizing electrospray jet. The angle of contact line is governed based on the famous Young-Laplace equation. Compared to a round nozzle that has a constant curvature along the orifice, the square nozzle has four square corner edges and four straight edges that hold the meniscus in a different manner and is of interest in this study. By utilizing both square and round capillary nozzle, we examine the effect of nozzle shape in electrohydrodynamic jetting. The ejections were recorded with a high speed camera and analyzed to examine the jetting repeatability based on dynamic movement of meniscus. The result suggests that if the corner edges are not sharp, then its effect on repeatability is also limited.
