  • This study was conducted as a post - study on the development of a centralized controller and a hydraulic lift system including structural analysis and remote control for the development of a vertically elevated car. The safety review was carried out through the structural modification of the elevator lift which was developed during the previous research. 3D modeling was performed with Solidworks, and a model of finite element was created through Hypermesh S / W. In addition, the loading environment of the work vehicle for the evaluation is a condition in which the loading amount is 250 kg per position (total, upper, upper, lower, and lower) on the work table, ), The structural analysis was carried out under the condition that the load was 600 kg, and safety was examined in various aspects. As a result, when the allowable load of 250 kg and the excess load of 600 kg are excluded (except Case-11), the stress level is below the yield strength. In the case of Case-11, there is a region exceeding the yield strength at the center support portion of the safety bar at the upper end even after excluding the component which generates the maximum stress, but it does not affect the safety aspect of the whole structure Respectively. Looking at the deflection results, it can be seen that in all cases the maximum deflection occurs in the same table, and the tendency of sagging in both 250 kg and 600 kg is the same.

  • Interactions among multiple control functions of a UPFC installed in a power system have been observed in power system simulation and been reported in authors' previous publications [1,2]. This paper presents new analytical results about these observed interactions and concludes that they are due to the control conflict between the series and shunt part of the UPFC, which are connected through the internal common capacitor inside the UPFC. Investigation in the paper reveals, for the first time as far as the authors are aware of, that the linkage pattern of UPFC series and shunt part decides whether the control functions implemented by the UPFC series and shunt part conflict each other or not. This linkage pattern of UPFC series and shunt part can be described by the flow of active power through the UPFC at steady-state operation of the power system. Hence in order to predict the possible interactions among multiple control functions of the UPFC, an interaction indicator is proposed in the paper which is the direction and amount of active power flow through the internal link of the UPFC series and shunt part at steady-state operation of the power system. This proposed interaction indicator can be calculated from power system load flow solution without having to run simulation of the power system with UPFC controllers installed. By using the indicator, the interactions among multiple control functions of the UPFC caused by badly set controller's parameters are excluded. Therefore the indicator only identifies the possible existence of inherent control conflict of the UPFC.

  • Electric vehicles and robots are real-time distributed control systems composed of multiple drive subsystems using micro controller units. Each control subsystem should be modular, compact, power saving, interoperable and fault tolerable in order to be incorporated into the networked real-time distributed control system. Under the networked real-time distributed control the synchronization problem can be occurred to the position and orientation tracking control due to the load variance, mismatch and time delay between the multiple drive subsystems. This paper suggests two types of position synchronization control of the single link manipulators. One of them is composed of cross controller, Kalman filter and disturbance observer, and the other uses the generation of target trajectories to minimize the gradient vector of the scalar function which is composed of the sum of square errors between the reference input vector and the output vectors. The availability of the proposed control schemes is shown through the control experiments.

  • The AC-common bus microgrid system can overcome several weaknesses of the DC microgrid system by interconnecting the DC/AC inverters used for renewable energy with an AC network. Nevertheless, the unbalanced loads inherent in the electric power systems of island and small communities can deteriorate the performance of the AC microgrid system. This is because of the limited voltage regulation capability and mixed power flow in the voltage source inverter. In order to overcome the unbalanced load condition, this paper proposes a voltage and current control algorithm for the 4-leg inverter based on the single phase d-q control method, as well as the modeling of the voltage controller using Matlab/Simulink S/W. From the S/W simulation and experiment of the 250KW proto-type inverter, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm is a useful tool for the design and operation of the AC microgrid system.

  • Calculation of indicated mean effective pressure(IMEP) requires high cylinder pressure sampling rate and heavy computational load. Because of that, it is difficult to implement in a conventional electronic control unit. In this paper, a cylinder pressure based real-time IMEP estimation method is proposed for controller implementation. Crank angle at 10-bar difference pressure($CA_{DP10}$) and cylinder pressure difference between $60^{\circ}$ ATDC and $60^{\circ}$ BTDC($DP_{deg}$) are used for IMEP estimation. These pressure variables can represent effectively start of combustion(SOC) and fuel injection quantity respectively. The proposed IMEP estimation method is validated by transient engine operation using a common-rail direct injection diesel engine.

  • The introduction of inexpensive cylinder pressure sensors provides new opportunities for precise engine control. This paper presents a control strategy of spark advance based upon cylinder pressure of spark ignition engines. A location of peak pressure(LPP) is the major parameter for controlling the spark timing, and also the UP is estimated, using a multi-layer feedforward neural network, which needs only five pressure sensor output voltage samples at -40˚, -20˚, 0˚, 20˚, 40˚ after top dead center. The neural network plays an important role in mitigating the A/D conversion load of an electronic engine controller by increasing the sampling interval from 10 crank angle(CA) to 20˚ CA. A proposed control algorithm does not need a sensor calibration and pegging(bias calculation) procedure because the neural network estimates the UP from the raw sensor output voltage. The estimated LPP can be regarded as a good index for combustion phasing, and can also be used as an MBT control parameter. The feasibility of this methodology is closely examined through steady and transient engine operations to control individual cylinder spark advance. The experimental results have revealed a favorable agreement of individual cylinder optimal combustion phasing.

  • This paper describes an integrated chassis control for a maneuverability, a lateral stability and a rollover prevention of a vehicle by the using of the ESC and AFS. The integrated chassis control system consists of a supervisor, control algorithms and a coordinator. From the measured and estimation signals, the supervisor determines the vehicle driving situation about the lateral stability and rollover prevention. The control algorithms determine a desired yaw moment for lateral stability and a desired longitudinal force for the rollover prevention. In order to apply the control inputs, the coordinator determines a brake and active front steering inputs optimally based on the current status of the subject vehicle. To improve the reliability and to reduce the operating load of the proposed control algorithms, a multi-core ECU platform is used in this system. For the evaluation of this system, a closed loop simulations with driver-vehicle-controller system were conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed control strategy.

  • This paper presents the scheme that improves control responsibility and stability of the controlled-PM electromagnet levitation system with zero Power controller. A magnetically levitation system is used widely because friction can almost be disappeared. But it is difficult to control due to restraint of controllable area and nonlinear characteristics of electromagnetic force, which is proportioned to a square of the magnetic flux density and is in inverse proportion to a square of the air-gap. So, the application of observer theory in which the levitation system is considered to be a linear dynamic model has resulted in omitting the time dependence on mover's speed. Consequently, the performance of the observer is quite poor during transients. Therefore, this paper proposed the controlled-PM electro-magnetic levitation control method in which the variable load is estimated by using the reduced order extended luenverger observer and its system is controlled at a new zero power equilibrium air-gap position. It is also verified that the proposed control method improve the control performance through simulation and experiment.

  • Among transport vehicles, Special Vehicles (SVs) are seriously exposed to energy and environmental problems. In particular, elevator cars used when moving objects in high-rise buildings increase the engine's rotational speed (radian per second: RPM). At this time, when the vehicle accelerates rapidly while idling, energy consumption increases explosively along with the engine speed, and a lot of soot is generated. The purpose of this paper is to develop a bi-directional DC-DC converter for control of vehicle power and secondary battery used in an elevated ladder vehicle (EC) used in the moving industry. As a result of this paper, the performance test of the converter was conducted. The charging/discharging state of the converter was simulated using DC power supply and DC electronic load, and a performance experiment was conducted to measure the input/output power of the converter through a power meter. Through this experimental result, it was confirmed that the efficiency was more than 92% in Buck mode and Boost mode at maximum 1.2kW output.

  • The slotless linear synchronous motor(LSM) has the advantages that the structure of the mover is simple and it can control the trust force ripple by make the magnetic energy in a gap uniform by removing a slot of the primary iron core. Also, the application of the transportation system is becoming expansion because it high efficiency drive is possible and compares with the other LSM as control is more excellent. However, the application of the living field was unsatisfactory. Therefore, in this study, we examined the drive characteristics by the position feedback control for the living field application of the slotless LSM and we prove useful of the controller through load loading and the acceleration changing to get minimization of the speed vibration and stable answer characteristics.
