  • Recently, electronic devices is produced by multilayer structure, therefore analysis for hidden layers is important nondestructive inspection. This paper presents visibility enhancement methods for the ultrasonic multiple echoes reflected from adhesive layer in the multilayers using digital signal processing. The reflected signals from the multilayers come out interval of the peaks in the power cepstrum. In the experiment, the adhesive layers of settled thickness using epoxy were formed. The reflected signals from the multilayer is detected by pulse-echo method and power cepstrum is processed for enhancement of visibility.

  • An input power estimation method of a three-phase inverter for the high-efficiency operation of AC motors is proposed. Measuring devices, such as DC link voltage and input current sensors, are required to obtain the input power of the inverter. In the proposed method, the input power of the inverter can be estimated without the input current sensor by using the phase current information of the AC motor and the switching pattern of the inverter. The proposed method is more robust to parameter error than conventional method. The validity of the input power estimation method is verified through experiments conducted on a 1 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor drive system.

  • The electronic structures of a hybrid magnetic-electric quantum ring and two terminal conductance taking into account the resonant backscattering via both magnetic and electric edge channels are studied. The hybrid magnetic-electric quantum ring is formed by a magnetic quantum dot combined with an additional antidot electrostatic potential at the center of the dot. Electrons are both magnetically and electrically confined to the plane. The antidot potential repelling electrons from the center of the dot plays an important role in the energy spectra and magnetoconductance. The angular momentum transition in the ground state and the behavior of magnetoconductance due to a change of the antidot potential are shown in comparison with the conventional magnetic quantum dot.

  • 3D semiconductor material of silicon that is used throughout the semiconductor industry currently faces a physical limitation of the development of semiconductor process technology. The research into the next generation of nano-semiconductor materials such as semiconductor properties superior to replace silicon in order to overcome the physical limitations, such as the 2-dimensional graphene material in 2D transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) has been researched. In particular, 2D TMD doping without severely damage of crystal structure is required different conventional methods such as ion implantation in 3D semiconductor device. Here, we study a p-type doping technique on tungsten diselenide (WSe2) for p-channel 2D transistors by adjusting the concentration of hydrochloric acid through Raman spectroscopy and electrical/optical measurements. Where the performance parameters of WSe2 - based electronic device can be properly designed or optimized. (on currents increasing and threshold voltage positive shift.) We expect that our p-doping method will make it possible to successfully integrate future layered semiconductor devices.

  • The graphene, a single atomic sheet of graphite, has attracted tremendous interest owing to its novel properties including high intrinsic mobility, optical transparency and flexibility. However, for more diverse application of graphene devices, it is essential to tune its transport behavior by shifting Dirac Point (DP) of graphene. So, in the following context, we suggest a method to tune structural and electronic properties of graphene using atomic layer deposition. By atomic layer deposition of zinc oxide (ZnO) on graphene using 4-mercaptophenol as linker, we can fabricate n-doped graphene. Through ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking between chemically inert graphene and 4-mercaptophenol, conformal deposition of ZnO on graphene was enabled. The electron mobility of graphene TFT increased more than 3 times without considerably decreasing the hole mobility, compared to the pristine graphene. Also, it has high air stability. This ZnO doping method by atomic layer deposition can be applicable to large scale array of CVD graphene TFT.

  • Recently, the technology for flexible electronics such as flexible smart phone, foldable displays, and bendable battery is under active development. With approaching the real commercialization of flexible electronics, the electrical and mechanical reliability of flexible electronics have become significantly important because they will be used under various mechanical deformations such as bending, twisting, stretching, and so on. These mechanical deformations result in performance degradation of electronic devices due to several mechanical problems such as cracking, delamination, and fatigue. Therefore, the understanding of relationship between mechanical loading and electrical performance is one of the most critical issues in flexible electronics for expecting the lifetime of products. Here, we have investigated the effect of monotonic tensile and cyclic deformations on metal interconnect to provide a guideline for improving the reliability of flexible interconnect.

  • Swirl flow in the gun type burner has an impact on the stabilization of the flame, improvement of the combustion efficiency. The swirl flow is created by the spinner which is inside the airtube that guide the combustion air. Gun type burner has generally the inner devices composed electronic spark plug, injection nozzle, combustion device adaptor, and spinner. These inner components change the air flow behavior passing through airtube. So, this study conducted the measurement using by hot-wire anemometer and analyzed effect of the swirl number of spinner on the exhaust air of gun type burner. Turbulence characteristics come up in this study was mean velocity, turbulence intensity, kinetic energy, shear stress and flattness factor of the air flow with the change of the distance of axial direction and tangential direction from the exit of the airtube.

  • Backside Ar ion milling technique for the preparation of cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (TEM) specimens, and backside-ion milling combined with focused ion beam (FIB) operation for electron holography were introduced in this paper. The backside Ar ion milling technique offers advantages in preparing cross-sectional specimens having thin, smooth and uniform surfaces with low surface damages. The back-side ion milling combined with the FIB technique could be used to observe the two-dimensional p-n junction profiles in semiconductors with the sample quality sufficient for an electron holography study. These techniques have useful applications for accurate TEM analysis of the microstructure of materials or electronic devices such as arrayed hole patterns, three-dimensional integrated circuits, and also relatively thick layers (> $1{\mu}m$).

  • Recently, mobile devices have been widely used. Therefore, the service users want that are not constrained by time and space. Among them, electronic payment services, mobile finance service is enjoying a tremendous popularity. The FinTech is the result of the fusion of finance and ICT(Information & Communication Technology). Security experts is pointed the FinTech security risk. New technology and Innovative FinTech services are even available, Insecure FinTech services is insignificant. In this paper we were surveyed market and product trends of FinTech and analyzed the threats about FinTech. Also, we analyzed the security considerations for FinTech using a questionnaire. As a result, users considers secure payment process and privacy. Therefore, we proposed security considerations for each vulnerability. So, we must be resolved of security technology and policy issues. If establishing a secure payment process and the unclear legal issue is resolved, FinTech service will provide a secure financial services to the user.

  • A target of this paper is to get some elementary experimental data on the energy harvesting using a piezoelectric material. A THUNDER series piezo material (TH7-R), which has been developed by NASA engineer is selected for this study. In order to provide a mechanical energy to the piezoelectric material, a mechanical motion vibrator and its driving electronics are designed. Using a simple PWM control, the excitation frequency of vibrating mechanical motion is varied. The generated electric power as a function of the excitation frequency is monitored and analyzed. This initial experiment shows a possible energy source using a piezoelectric material for the application to low-power consumed small electronic devices such as RFID, MEMS, and etc.
