전동화 수동 휠체어의 실용화 모델 INMEL-VII의 개발 (Development of Motorized Wheelchair INMEL-VII for Model of Practical Use)

  • We developed electric wheelchair INMEL-VI which is motorized wheelchair for practical use. The field test results of long time show some problems to disabled in daily use. INMEL-VII is designed to solve the problems of INMEL-VI and to adjust condition by the Korean Industrial Standards about the motorized wheelchair. Especially, it is improved to have durability, driving safety, and convenience of manipulating. In the driving field test in indoors and outdoors, it has been estimated to have a high practical use for powered walking aids to disable's daily life.

Autonomous Navigation System for Power Wheelchair System

  • The power wheelchair is an important and convenient mobility device. The demand of power wheelchair is increasing for assistance in mobility. In this paper we proposed a robotic wheelchair for mobility aid to reduce the burden from the disabled. The main issue in an autonomous wheelchair is the automatic detection and avoidance of obstacles and going to the pre-designated place. The proposed algorithm detects the obstacles and avoids them to drive the wheelchair to the desired place safely with panning scan from sensors of distance measurement and fuzzy control. By this way, the disabled will not always have to worry about paying deep attention to the surroundings and his path.

  • As the ageing population grows around the world, the demand for electric wheelchairs, an important mobility assistance device for the disabled and elderly, is gradually increasing. Therefore, a number of studies related to intelligent wheelchairs are actively underway to improve safety and comfort for wheelchair users. However, previous collision avoidance studies for intelligent wheelchairs have concentrated on collision avoidance methods with the shortest distance and by only changing either velocity or heading angle, rather than considering the forces exerted on the user. If a collision avoidance algorithm that does not consider these forces is applied to an intelligent wheelchair, there is a possibility of an accident due to falling as wheelchair users are generally disabled and elderly people. In this paper, we propose a collision avoidance algorithm which minimizes the forces exerted on a wheelchair user by minimizing the variation of the wheelchair's velocity and heading angle when the sizes, positions, velocities, and heading angles of a wheelchair and a moving obstacle are known.

  • 본 연구는 고령화시대에 따라 한국의 장애인 증가로 인한 전동휠체어의 수요가 증가함에 따라, 시뮬레이션을 이용한 접이식 전동휠체어에 대해 기술하였다. 기존의 모터가 들어있는 전동휠체어를 보호자가 환자와 함께 탈 수 있는 구조로 설계 하였고 모터와 배터리를 분리하지 않고도 휠체어를 접을 수 있어 자동차트렁크나 작은 공간에 쉽게 넣을 수 있고 핸드카형식으로도 사용 할 수 있는 접이식 휠체어를 제안하였다. 또한 환자의 편리성을 위해 휠체어 디자인을 외산에 비해 경제적인 가격으로 개선했고 갑작스러운 가속이나 급정지에도 적절히 제어될 수 있도록 설계하였다.

  • 이 연구는 고령화 시대에 맞게 한국의 장애인 증가로 인한 휠체어 사용의 증가를 이야기한다. 기존의 모터가 들어있는 전동휠체어를 보호자가 환자와 함께 탈 수 있게끔 하였고 모터와 배터리를 분해하지 않고도 휠체어를 접을 수 있어 자동차트렁크나 작은 공간에 쉽게 넣을 수 있고 핸드카형식으로도 사용할 수 있는 접이식 휠체어바디를 설계했다. 설계한 휠체어 바디는 Solidworks를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 시뮬레이션은 인장응력, 변형률, 피로해석으로 나뉘어 휠체어가 튼튼하게 설계하였다. 또한 환자를 위한 휠체어 디자인을 개선했고 갑작스러운 가속이나 급정지에도 잘 제어되게끔 설계하였다.

  • In this study, Fuzzy control algorithm to generate a change of rocomotion cordition according to an outer environment is introduced on a motorized wheelchair control. An optimal control rules for conquesting the less of safety and system inefficiency in the past are given to this motorized wheelchair. And dynamic analysis is also adopted to it. Using those rules, a proportional control was possible when the vehicle changed its moving direction. The proposed method which considers the relationship between a moving velocity and the command from the joystick shows better performance in the change of moving direction.

  • The improvement of the social environment and the rapid development of medicine are making possible the age of 100. So a great number of countries including Korea are rapidly becoming the aged society or the super aged society. The elderly are accompanied by discomfort and disability. A variety of systems are developed and distributed to overcome them. The electric wheelchair is an electric motorized system for people who can not manipulate a manual wheelchair. In this paper, we propose an autonomous driving platform for an electric wheelchair. Here we use QR (Quick Response) code for self-localization. We also present real test results of the proposed system.

  • In this study, Korean speech was recognized by using spatio-temporal recognition neural network. The subjects of speech are numeric speech from zero to nine and basic command which might be used for motorized wheelchair developed it own Lab. Rabiner and Sambur's method of speech detection was used in determining end-point of speech, speech parameter was extracted by using LPC 16 order. The recognition rate was over 90%.
