  • In this thesis, a video tracker with a TMS320C31 DSP is designed and implemented. It is intended to work with PC through PCI Bus and can be used in real-time applications. The DSP board is capable of grabbing image data from camera, and calculating the position of a target, and tracking its movement. The tracking situation can be displayed in a PC monitor and displacement of the movement is fed back to pan and tilt the camera. Experimental results show that the tracker implemented here works well in real applications.

  • The proposed algorithm uses a modified adaptive law which consists of switching -modification, normalized augmented error and low-pass filtered signal of output tracking error, furthermore, the proportional term that is a product of the output tracking error and the bounded signal having an information of output tracking error is added to the conventional control law for improvement of robustness and performance of an adaptive system. For the arbitrary nth order system, mathematical analysis and computer simulation are used to demonstrate improvement of output error characteristics, guaranteeing boundedness of all signals in the overall system.

  • In this study, four kinds of specimens of PE(polyethylene)-based insulating materials were prepared for selecting the optimum insulation materials in a wet environment. The specimens were tested by various methods, the anti tracking test, the transmittance test in the water vapor transmittance(WVT) and the abrasion resistive test, etc. The HDPE(high-density polyethylene) specimen was showed excellent property in the tracking resistance test and the lowest transmittance in water vapor transmittance test. In the abrasion resistive test, the LLDPE(linear low-density polyethylene) and MDPE(medium-density Polyethylene) were showed excellent mechanical properties. The value of cut-through resistance for MDPE and HDPE were superior to that for LLDPE and LDPE(low-density polyethylene).

  • In object tracking, the template matching methods have been developed and frequently used. It is fast enough, but not robust to an object with the variation of size and shape. In order to overcome the limitation of the template matching method, this paper proposes a template update technique. After finding an object position using the correlation-based adaptive predictive search, the proposed method selects blocks which contain object's boundary. It estimates the motion of boundary using block matching, and then updates template. We applied it to IR image sequences including an approaching object. From the experimental results, the proposed method showed successful performance to track object.

  • The effect of surface treatment of fillers on the mechanical, electrical properties, and tracking performance of silicone rubber insulators have been investigated. For base polymer, $\alpha,\;\omega$) vinyl poly(dimethyl-methylphenyl) siloxane(VPMPS) containing dimethyl siloxane and methylphenyl siloxane was prepared by the equilibrium polymerization. High voltage silicone rubber composites(HVSRC) were prepared from VPMPS, nano-silica, and alumina trihydrate (ATH) modified by various coupling agents. Bound rubber of uncured silicone rubber, cross-linking density of the vulcanizate as well as the mechanical, electrical properties, and tracking performance were measured.

  • The distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) concept is widely adopted in photovoltaic systems to avoid mismatch loss. However, the high cost and complexity of DMPPT hinder its further promotion in practice. Based on the concept of DMPPT, this paper presents an integrated submodule level half-bridge stack structure along with an optimal current point tracking (OCPT) control algorithm. In this full power processing integrated solution, the number of power switches and passive components is greatly reduced. On the other hand, only one current sensor and its related AD unit are needed to perform the ideal maximum power generation for all of the PV submodules in any irradiance case. The proposal can totally eliminate different small-scaled mismatch effects in real-word condition and the true maximum power point of each PV submodule can be achieved. As a result, the ideal maximum power output of the whole PV system can be achieved. Compared with current solutions, the proposal further develops the integration level of submodule DMPPT solutions with a lower cost and a smaller size. Moreover, the individual MPPT tracking for all of the submodules are guaranteed.

  • Photovoltaic (PV) systems are influenced by disproportionate impacts on energy production caused by frequent mismatch cases. The occurrence of multiple maximum power points (MPPs) adds complexity to the tracking process in various PV systems. However, current maximum-power point tracking (MPPT) techniques exhibit limited performance. This paper introduces an enhanced simulated annealing (ESA)-based GMPPT technique against multiple MPP issues in P-V curve with different PV system structures. The proposed technique not only distinguishes global and local MPPs but also performs rapid convergence speed and high tracking accuracy of irradiance changing and restart capability detection. Moreover, the proposed global maximum power tracking algorithm can be applied in the central converter of DMPPT and hybrid PV system to meet various application scenarios. Its effectiveness is verified by simulation and test results.

  • In this paper, It is tested by spraying the spoiled liquids on the materials to prove the process of tracking under the various environments. Our experiments ware examined by setting the materials in the spray chamber, and by spraying the distilled water(DW), the city water(CW), the underground water(UW), the artificial acid rain(AR) and the salt water(SW) in applied voltage 3-6[KV]. As the result, the time of tracking breakdown became shorter in the order of DW < CW < UW < AR < SW. XLPE was eroded and its anti-bracking property was very strong, but that of PVC sheath was week. Especially it was confirmed that spraying by AR and SW on the PVC sheath had a serious effect on the lifetime of cable by the tracking breakdown.

  • This paper proposes a new finite control set-model predictive control (FCS-MPC) method for induction motors. In the method, the reference state that satisfies the given torque and rotor flux requirements is derived. Cost indices for the FCS-MPC are defined using the state tracking error, and a linear matrix inequality is formulated to obtain a proper weighting matrix for the state tracking error. The on-line procedure of the proposed FCS-MPC comprises of two steps: select the output voltage vector of the two level inverter minimizing the cost index and compute the optimal modulation factor of the minimizing output voltage vector in order to reduce the state tracking error and torque ripple. The steady state tracking error is removed by using an integrator to adjust the reference state. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the proposed FCS-MPC shows good torque, rotor flux control performances at different rotating speeds.
