수직자기기록매체용 Co-Cr 박막의 자기적 특성 개선에 관한 연구 (The Improvement of Magnetic Properties of Co-Cr Thin Film for Perpendicular Magnetic Recording Media)

  • We prepared Co-Cr thin film for perpendicular magnetic recording media with facing targets sputtering system(FTS system) which can deposit a high quality thin film in plasma-free state and wide range of working pressure. The effect of sputtering conditions(argon gas pressure and substrate temperature) on the magnetic and the crystallographic characteristic of Co-Cr thin film was investigated. And the variation of perpendicular coercivity with the variation of film thickness was studied. As a result we obtained the high perpendicular coercivity of 1900Oe and the good dispersion angle of c-axis($\Delta$$\theta$$_{50}$) of 5$^{\circ}$on the film thickness of 100nm for the promising recording layer of perpendicular magnetic recording media.c recording media.a.

  • Longitudinal recording has been the cornerstone of all two generations of magnetic recording systems, FDD and HDD. In recent, perpendicular recording has received much attention as promising technology for future high-density recording system Research into signal processing techniques is paramount for the issued storage system and is indispensable like longitudinal recording systems. This paper focuses on the performance evaluation of the various detectors under perpendicular recording system. Parameters for improving the their performance are examined for some detectors. Detectors considered in this work are the partial response maximum likelihood (PRML), noise-predictive maximum likelihood (NPML), fixed delay tree search with decision feedback (FDTS/DF), dual decision feedback equalizer (DDFE) and multilevel decision feedback equalizer (MDFE). Their performances are analyzed in terms of mean squared error (MSE) and noise power spectra, and similarity between recording channel and partial response (PR) channel.

  • 디지탈 비디오 디스크의 약어로 지칭되는 DVD는 현대 과학이 이루어낸 레이저 광에 의한 정보의 기록과 재생을 한층 승화시킨 차세대 package형 광 기록 매체이다. 앞으로 이 제품군은 기존에 분리되어 있던 가전과 컴퓨터의 응용분야를 이어주는 교량역할을 할 새로운 개념의 상품으로 기대된다. 본 고에서는 DVD의 기술적 배경 및 이의 구현을 위해 활용된 요소기술, 그리고 미래기술로의 흐름에 관해 소개고자 한다.

Terabit-per-square-inch Phase-change Recording on Ge-Sb-Te Media with Protective Overcoatings

  • We reported here nano-scale electrical phase-change recording in amorphous $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ media using an atomic force microscope (AFM) having conducting probes. In recording process, a pulse voltage is applied to the conductive probe that touches the media surface to change locally the electrical resistivity of a film. However, in contact operation, tip/media wear and contamination could major obstacles, which degraded SNR, reproducibility, and lifetime. In order to overcome tip/media wear and contamination in contact mode operation, we adopted the W incorporated diamond-like carbon (W-DLC) films as a protective layer. Optimized mutilayer media were prepared by a hybrid deposition system of PECVD and RF magnetron sputtering. When suitable electrical pulses were applied to media through the conducting probe, it was observed that data bits as small as 25 nm in diameter have been written and read with good reproducibility, which corresponds to a data density of $1 Tbit/inch^2$. We concluded that stable electrical phase-change recording was possible mainly due to W-DLC layer, which played a role not only capping layer but also resistive layer.

  • In this paper, perpendicular magnetic recording system which consists of a single pole head and a double, layer medium is analyzed by using 2D-finite element simulation and Preisach model for describing hysteresis characteristics. For confirming this method, we compare the calculated magnetic field intensity which is above the isolated transition of magnetization and scale up experimental data which have already published. The results show a good agreement and we can conclude that this method is very useful to analyze perpendicular magnetic recording system.

무구속 수면효율 분석을 위한 스마트폰 기반 움직임패턴 특성분석 (Movement Characteristic Analysis for Unconstrained Sleep Efficiency Analysis Based on the Smartphone)

  • In this research, we designed representative motion patterns that possibly occurred in sleep situation and evaluated the feasibility of the smartphone based movement recording technique. For this, we designed 7 motions such as posture change, head movement, arm movement (vertical, horizontal), leg movement and hand movement (flipping, folding). Movement was recorded by using the smartphone and the actimetry device simultaneously for comparing the feasibility of smartphone based recording. As a result of experiment, we found that the smartphone based movement recording well reflects the body movement, however, it shows the limitation in recording the small local movement such as hand motion compared with the reference actimetry device, Actiwatch.

  • In order to increase perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of magnetic layer and prepare magnetic recording layer with a good quality by epitaxial growth between magnetic layer and, we prepared Co$\_$77/Cr$\_$20/Ta$_3$/Si doublelayer for perpendicular magnetic recording media which was promoted as next generation recording media on slide glass substrate. The thickness of magnetic layer and Underlayer were varied from 20 to 100 nm and 5 to 100 m, respectively. The surface morphology and crystal structure of the CoCrTa/Si film were examined with XRD and AFM. Prepared thin films showed improvement of dispersion angle of c-axis orientation Δ$\theta$$\_$50/ caused by inserting amorphous Si underlayer.

  • The Co-Cr-Ta films are one of the most suitable candidates for perpendicular magnetic recording media. The facing targets sputtering(FTS) system has a advantage of preparing films over a wide range of working gas pressure on plasma-free substrates. In this study, we investigated the effect underlayers on the growths layers of Co-Cr-Ta recording layers. The Co-Cr-Ta/Ti(CoCr) double layers were deposited with sputter gas pressure$(P_N, 0.3-1mTorr)$ by using FTS apparatus at temperature of$40^{\circ}C~-300^{\circ}C$, respectively. Crystallographic and magnetic characteristics were evaluated by x-ray diffractometry(XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM), respectively.

  • In this study, we have investigated the holography recording and reconstruction of the polarization state in chalcogenide $A_{s40}Ge_{10}Se_{15}S_{35}4 thin films using a He-Ne laser light(633nm). The thickness of thin films is a 8677${\AA}$ and 9093${\AA}$. A He-Ne laser used to probe and record of the grating. Also the polarization state of object beam modulated with a $\lambda/4$ wave plate. The polarization state of the +lst order diffracted beam generated by readout of the grating with a linearly polarized reference beam. It was the same-handed polarization state as the polarization state of the recording beam. The diffraction efficiency of circularly polarized recording represented higher than other polarization state.

  • In this study, we discussed the optical property to find the optimal condition of Te-based antireflection trilayer(ART) structure for a high density optical recording. It was found that the optical property was improved by suggesting the environmental parameters satisfied the optimum condition. As the results, the optimized(.lambda.=8.000${\AA}$.) thickness of the recording layer is 27${\AA}$, and the 1st and 2nd minimum ART conditions of dielectric layers are 1080${\AA}$, 3820${\AA}$, respectively. And the high SNR, the contrast ratio and the sensitivity are achieved by using the ART conditions.
