A Study of Control Algorithm for Propulsion System (열차 추진제어장치의 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, control schemes are developed for a propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) in electrical train. A robust controller for PWM converter is proposed. The converter controller consists of a PI controller for DC output voltage and a current controller using error-space approach for maintaining the sinusoidal current waveform and unity power factor. This proposed method is based on characteristic ratio assignment(CRA) method which has the advantage to design the optimal gain to meet the referenced response and overshoot within the limit range. Inverter system is controlled by vector control and slip frequency control. At low speed region, vector control scheme is applied to control instantaneous torque and slip frequency control is performed under overmodulation region and one pulse mode. Because output voltage of converter contains harmonics ripple at twice input ac line frequency, control scheme is developed to reduce the pulsating torque current. The performance of propulsion system will be verified by simulation and prototype experimental results.

  • This paper presents a model and simulation for the korean type multi-propulsion system consisting of a gas turbine driven synchronous alternator coupled to a rectifier and dc-to-dc converter. The simulation modules include turbine system, alternator and rectifier, dc-to-dc converter, power management module. A modular, system level simulation of the propulsion system prototype is presented in order to confirm stability for loads with uncertain input impedances and uncertain control loop speeds.

  • In this paper, control schemes are proposed for a propulsion system(Converter/Inverter) of the TTX(Tilting Train express). In developed traction converter, unity power factor control, compensation method of dc link voltage have been applied. Output current of converter contains harmonics ripple at twice input ac line frequency, which causes a ripple in the dc link voltage so that control scheme is developed in inverter system to reduce the pulsating torque current. At low speed region, vector control scheme is applied and slip frequency control is adopted at high speed region. The performance of propulsion system will be verified by simulation and prototype experimental results.

  • The cooling technology of power conversion semiconductors in the propulsion system for the HEMU(High Electrical Multi Unit) are applied in water cooling method and phase change method such as the immersed type and the heat pipe type. Both of cooling systems need a condenser and a fan through forced wind to emit that is radiated heat from electric power conversion semiconductor(IGBT) stack effectively, now in the case of Japanese Fastec 360S, is using ram-air that is flowed in establishing cooling passage to propulsion system for cooling of condenser. In this research, it is that achieved the computing numerical analysis using ADINA of commertial program to examine flow characteristics and pressure distribution of ram-air for a condenser in cooling passage.

  • The launch operation for a space launch vehicle(SLV) is to be conducted by the systematic operation between SLV and the Technological Equipment(TE) such as the mechanical, fuel, and electrical ground support equipment at launch complex(LC). The basic source for the operation of the instruments in LC is the electrical power supply system, Technological Equipment Power Supply System(TEPSS), which is one of the Launch Control System. Thus TEPSS should supply the required electrical power to TE with reliability. In this paper, TEPSS which supplies operational electrical power to TE is introduced.

  • In the paper, we propose a design method for the logistics transportation system using magnetic levitation that has a good characteristics without mechanical friction, noise and dust. The proposed transportation system consists of a levitation control system and a propulsion control system. Magnetic levitation system is an electromagnetic suspension system in which electromagnet generates magnetic attractive force and the attractive force pulls the rail. We design a PID controller for the current control of electromagnets. We use linear induction motors for propulsion of the proposed logistics transportation system and adapt the space vector PWM method for the propulsion control system. The proposed transportation system using magnetic levitation is verified performances through levitation and propulsion experiments.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of previously developed PMU (Power Monitoring Unit) for LiPB (Lithium-ion Polymer Battery) that is electric propulsion used as unmanned aerial vehicle's power source. Improved PMU provides stable voltage and current to various sensors and elctric motors necessary during flight. Voltage and current monitoring function that is measured by improved PMU more precisely be enhanced and the monitoring channel and temperature sensor is added. To verify the improved performance of the equipment, it is integrated to electric propulsion system of unmanned aerial vehicle. PMU is calibrated through the ground test. And PMU's performance is checked through the flight test.

  • This Paper presents characteristic analysis in terms of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor for electric vehicle propulsion using numerical analysis. Torque ripple analysis, thermal analysis, demagnetization analysis of permanent magnet and mechanical stress analysis with variable operating condition are presented. According to these characteristic analysis, both the performance of motor and possible problems during the operation are examined thoroughly in advance.

  • This paper presents the overall measurement system for on-line test of super-speed maglev train. The super-speed maglev train is composed of vehicle, propulsion, power, and so on. In order to evaluate and diagnose for sub-system, we made overall measurement system. Just like the other measurement system, it is designed to distributed type. The hardware is consist of SCXI, PXI, Terminal, UPS, and so forth. It is installed on a train, control room, power room and track to collect lots of signals. The software controls hardware system, monitors main data such as inverter current, converter voltage. Using the measurement system, we evaluated a lot of performances for vehicle, track, and so forth. Through the developed system have improved reliability and safety for super-speed maglev train.

  • Electric locomotive is adapted to high speed driving and mass transportation due to obtaining high traction force. The electric locomotive is operated by motor blocks and traction motors. Train speed is controlled by suppling power from motor blocks to traction motors according to reference speed. Speed control of the electric locomotive is efficient by spending energy between motor blocks and traction motors. Currently, switched reluctance motors have been studied because the efficient is higher than induction motors. In this paper, model of the switched reluctance motor is presented and the PID controller is applied to the model for the speed control by using Simulink. Asymmetry converter is used for real-time control and system performance is demonstrated by simulating the speed of switched reluctance motor including PID controller.
