  • Online identification of load parameters is the premise of establishing a stable and highly-efficient ICPT (Inductive Coupled Power Transfer) system. However, compared with pure resistive load, precise identification of composite load, such as resistor-inductance load and resistance-capacitance load, is more difficult. This paper proposes a method for detecting the composite load parameters of ICPT system utilizing harmonics. In this system, the fundamental and harmonic wave channel are connected to the high frequency inverter jointly. The load parameter values can be obtained by setting the load equation based on the induced voltage of secondary-side network, the fundamental wave current, as well as the third harmonic current effective value received by the secondary-side current via Fourier decomposition. This method can achieve precise identification of all kinds of load types without interfering the normal energy transmission and it can not only increase the output power, but also obtain higher efficiency compared with the fundamental wave channel alone. The experimental results with the full-bridge LCCL-S type voltage-fed ICPT system have shown that this method is accurate and reliable.

  • Recently, various researches and projects about electric vehicles are in progress vigorously and continuously and it is expected to penetrate rapidly with the next a few years. This deployment will cause the change of load composition rate affecting on power system planning and operations. Therefore, a new load model should be developed integrating with electric vehicle loads. In this paper, the load composition rate of residential sectors is analyzed considering the deployment of this mobility load such as electric vehicles and a new diffusion model is proposed based on the classification of the replacement patterns. Additionally, electric vehicle charging loads are basically modeled by some individual load experiments to develop new load models for smart place and some new conceptual power systems such as micro grids.

  • Recently, distribution load analysis using AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) data is researched in electric utilities. Load analysis method based on AMR system generates the typical load profile using load data of AMR customers, estimates the load profile of non-AMR customers, and analyzes the peak load and load profile of the distribution circuits and sectors per every 15 minutes/hour/day/week/month. Typical load profile is generated by the algorithm calculating the average amount of power consumption of each groups having similar load patterns. Traditional customer clustering mechanism uses only contract type code as a key. This mechanism has low accuracy because many customers having same contract code have different load patterns. In this research, We propose a customer clustring mechanism using k-means algorithm with contract type code and AMR data.

  • Electric power is an important part in economic development. Moreover, an accurate load forecast can make a financing planning, power supply strategy and market research planned effectively. This paper used the fuzzy logic system to predict the regional electric power load. To design the fuzzy prediction system, the correlation-based clustering algorithm and TSK fuzzy model were used. Also, to improve the prediction system's capability, the moving average technique and relative increasing rate were used in the preprocessing procedure. Finally, using four regional electric power load in Taiwan, this paper verified the performance of the proposed system and demonstrated its effectiveness and usefulness.

  • LLC resonant converter is popular with industrial fields because it can be achieved high efficiency by zero voltage switching (ZVS). As interest grew, analysis of characteristics in LLC resonant converter have been actively studied. Generally, characteristic of LLC resonant converter is analyzed based on first harmonic approximation(FHA). The FHA analysis represents the characteristics of LLC resonant converter by obtaining the series resonant operation. FHA analysis of LLC resonant converter in load condition is correct. but it is not correct in no load condition. This paper proposed analysis of characteristics considering the parasitic components to overcome the limitation of FHA and analyze no-load characteristics. The validity of the proposed method has been investigated by simulation and experimental results.

  • Applying a periodic load torque to an AC motor generates a ripple, which is synchronized to the frequency of the periodic load torque, at the speed of the motor. Consequently, numerous studies have focused on reducing the speed ripple caused by the load torque. However, it is difficult to reduce the speed ripple when there is a time delay in acquiring speed information, such as that from a sensorless control. Therefore, we propose a speed control method for reducing speed ripples caused by a periodic load torque when there is a time delay in acquiring the speed information. The proposed method is verified by conducting simulations using the Simulink program from MATLAB, and by applying the method to an actual motor in which speed ripples occur due to a periodic load torque that is synchronized with the speed of the motor.

  • By DC load flow approximation, we analyzed marginal cost that is the important factor of price signal for network congestion management and expressed as a function of load. In network congestion, a large scale electric network is partitioned into subnetwork to provide a effetive price signal through zonal pricing. We propose a new network partition technique using marginal cost sensitivity with a variety of load consumption.
