RFID system is applied to identify, locate and track people, cars, animals. In RFID system, the passive transponder without battery has some benefits than active transponder, such as no restriction in battery exchange and in battery’s life. But it needs auxiliary RF-DC conversion circuit. RF-DC conversion circuit originated from Wireless Power Transmission (WPT). In this paper, RF-DC conversion circuit consists of a microstrip patch antenna and impedance matching circuit, Cock-croft Walton circuit. And RF-DC conversion circuits have two kinds of T-type and Cross-type impedance matching circuits.
This paper presents a boost circuit topology driving in high - frequency. It solves the problem which arised from hard-switching in high-frequency using a period of resonant circuit and operating under the principle of ZCS turn-on and ZCZVS turn-off commutation schemes. In the existing circuit, it has the high voltage stress in free-wheeling diode. But in the proposed circuit, it has voltage stress which is lower than voltage stress of existing circuit with modifing a location of free-wheeling diode. In this paper, it explained the circuit operation of each mode and the waveform of each mode. Also the experiment result compares the existing voltage stress of free-wheeling diode with the proposed voltage stress of that.
This paper proposes techniques to diagnose short-circuit faults of both the diodes and power FET in switching mode power supply (SMPS) by using a simple analog tester. The diodes in full-bridge rectifier, power FET, switching transformer, and some sensors are modelled with resistor. The total resistance value measured at the input terminal of a SMPS is analyzed when the short-circuit faults of diodes in a full bridge rectifier or power FET are occurred. The short-circuit faults of one or two diodes in a full bridge rectifier, power FET, and both the diodes in a full bridge rectifier and power FET can be detected by a range of total resistance, which is measured by the analog tester. Through experiments, the theoretical analysis for total resistance under short-circuit faults can be verified.
This paper suggests an application method for a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) using an evaluation index to estimate the risk regarding the short-circuit capacity of the circuit breaker (CB). Recently, power distribution systems have become more complex to ensure that supply continuously keeps pace with the growth of demand. However, the mesh or loop network power systems suffer from a problem in which the fault current exceeds the short-circuit capacity of the CBs when a fault occurs. Most case studies on the application of the SFCL have focused on its development and performance in limiting fault current. In this study, an analysis of the application method of an SFCL considering the risk of the CB's short-circuit capacitor was carried out in situations when a fault occurs in a loop network power system, where each line connected with the fault point carries a different current that is above or below the short-circuit capacitor of the CB. A loop network power system using PSCAD/EMTDC was modeled to investigate the risk ratio of the CB and the effect of the SFCL on the reduction of fault current through various case studies. Through the risk evaluations of the simulation results, the estimation of the risk ratio is adequate to apply the SFCL and demonstrate the fault current limiting effect.
This paper presents the parameters optimization technology for generating the first short stroke lightning current waveform($10/350{\mu}s$) which is necessary for the performance tests of components of lightning protection systems, as required under IEC 62305 and the newly amended IEC 62561. The circuit using the crowbar device specified in IEC 62305 was applied to generate the lightning current waveform. To find the proper parameters of the circuit is not easy because the circuit consists of two parts; circuit I, which relates to the front of current waveform, and circuit II, which relates to the tail. A simulation in PSpise was carried out to find main factors related to the front and tail of $10/350{\mu}s$. The lightning current generator was developed by utilizing the circuit parameters found in the simulation. In the result of experiments, new parameters of the circuits need to be changed because of the difference between the simulation and the experiment results. Using the iterative method, the optimized parameters of the circuits was determined. Also a multistage-type external coil and a damping resistor were proposed to make the efficiency of generation to enhance. According to the result in this paper, an optimized first short stroke lightning current waveform was obtained.

We propose a simple and compact thyristor-based neuron circuit. The thyristor exhibits bi-stable characteristics that can mimic the action potential of the biological neuron, when it is switched between its OFF-state and ON-state with the help of assist circuit. In addition, a method of inter-neuron connection with synaptic devices is proposed, using double current mirror circuit. The circuit utilizes both short-term and long-term plasticity of the synaptic devices by flowing current through them and transferring it to the post-synaptic neuron. The double current mirror circuit is capable of shielding the pre-synaptic neuron from the post synaptic-neuron while transferring the signal through it, maintaining the synaptic conductance unaffected by the change in the input voltage of the post-synaptic neuron.
This paper presents an equivalent circuit model of a LIPB (Li-Ion Polymer battery) for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). The proposed equivalent circuit can be used to predict the charging/discharging characteristics in time domain as well as the impedance characteristic analysis in frequency domain. Based on these features, a one-cell model is established as a function of Depth of Discharge (DoD), and a 48-cell model for a battery pack was also established. It was confirmed by experiment that the proposed model predict the discharging and impedance (AC) characteristics quite accurately at different constant current levels. To check the usefulness of the proposed circuit, the model was used to simulate a motor driving circuit with an Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) inverter and Brushless DC (BLDC) motor, and it is confirmed that the model can calculate the battery voltage fluctuation in time domain at different DoDs.
We propose a new pixel design for active matrix organic light emitting diode (AM-OLED) displays using hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin-film transistors (a-Si:H TFTs). The pixel circuit is composed of five TFTs and one capacitor, and employs only one additional control signal line. It is verified by SPICE simulation results that the proposed pixel compensates the threshold voltage shift of the a-Si:H TFTs and OLED.
The main cause of electrical fires are caused due to short circuit and open circuit. This is generates an instantaneous electric arc or spark accompanied with such electric faults. These arcs generate a pressed wire, contact badness, and a weakness in the wire coating etc.. This research proposes a protection circuit to prevent open-phase accident due to contact failure of electromagnetic contactor, tracking arc fault, open-phase within the three-phase electrical control panel which is the most commonly applied in the industry. The proposed circuit also alarms and cuts off of power system when electrical faults occurs. In addition, the proposed circuit is validated by various electric accident simulator.
We proposed a new sustaining driver for AC PDPs with reduced sustain voltage by half, which cope with the demerits of the conventional TERES circuit. In the proposed circuit, the number of active switching elements are smaller than the TERES circuit by two and the energy recovery circuit is added. In this paper, the proposed circuit is implemented with control circuits and its validity is verified by the experimentation.
