Micro-source units having power ratings in thousands of watts can provide even higher reliability and fuel efficiency than the conventional large scale units. These units are also clustered with loads creating micro-grid services to customer sites such as office buildings, industrial parks and homes. Micro-sources adopt voltage source inverter to ensure the power quality of sensitive loads. This paper deals with the connection of micro-sources into the system grid. Modeling and simulation of the grid connected micro-sources at the power frequency range are investigated. Simulation results show that the micro-grid system with two micro-sources has good dynamic characteristics.
An environmental test has been performed in order to improve the lifetime and reliability of the electrical units on aircraft. However, faults occurring in the field of aircraft have been difficult to predict and prevent, and new concepts for reliability testing are desired. Therefore, a composite reliability test sequence was proposed in the conventional studies. This study introduces test sequence guidelines based on relevant principles and considerations for electronic testing according to International Standard IEC-60068-1 and the United States Military Standard MIL-STD-810G. In addition, we analyze possible causes of failure using two-step QFD based on aircraft operation scenarios. Finally, the proposed test sequence can reproduce various and realistic failure modes for electrical units on aircraft.

This paper deals with Digital Protection System which has been developed at R & D Center of HYUNDAI Electrical Engineering Co.. This system consists of supervisory control part and digital measuring are protection units. RS-485 network connects the units to supervisory control part. This paper go into detail about the specification of each part and the analysis results of digital measuring and protection unit.
In this paper, we implement a language model by a bigram and evaluate proper smoothing technique for unit of low perplexity. Word, morpheme, clause units are widely used as a language processing unit of the language model. We propose VCCV units which have more small vocabulary than morpheme and clauses units. We compare the VCCV units with the clause and the morpheme units using the perplexity. The most common metric for evaluating a language model is the probability that the model assigns the derivative measures of perplexity. Smoothing used to estimate probabilities when there are insufficient data to estimate probabilities accurately. In this paper, we constructed the N-grams of the VCCV units with low perplexity and tested the language model using Katz, Witten-Bell, absolute, modified Kneser-Ney smoothing and so on. In the experiment results, the modified Kneser-Ney smoothing is tested proper smoothing technique for VCCV units.

We investigated the characteristics of the hybrid-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) by the number of secondary windings. The SFCL consists of a transformer, which has a primary winding and several secondary windings with serially connected $YB_{a2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$ films. In order to increase the capacity. of the SFCL, the serial connection between each current limiting unit is necessary. Resistive-type SFCL has a difficulty in quenching simultaneously between the units due to slight differences of their critical current densities. The hybrid-type SFCL could achieve the simultaneous quenching through the electrical isolation and the mutual flux linkage among the units. We confirmed that the capacity of the SFCL could be increased effectively through the simultaneous quenching among the units. In addition, the power burden of the system could be reduced by adjusting the number of secondary windings. We will investigate the method to increase the capacity through serial and Parallel connections among current limiting units.
The integration of PV modules into building facades or roof could raise their temperature that results in the reduction of PV system's electrical power generation. Hot air can be extracted from the space between PV modules and building envelope, and used for heating in buildings. The extraction of hot air from the space will enhance the performance of BIPV systems. The solar collector utilizing these two aspects is called PV/T(photovoltaic/thermal) solar collector. This paper compares the experimental performance of two different types of air type PV/T collector units: the base case of a collector unit with 10cm gap for forced ventilation and the other unit with copper pin attached to PV module to enhance its thermal performance. The experimental results shows that the base case unit had the overall efficiency of 41.9% and the improved unit with copper pin attached to PV module had 50.1% efficiency. For these air type PV/T units, the forced ventilation of the air space improved the electrical performance as well as the thermal performance.

State Estimation (SE) is the basis of a variety of advanced applications used in most modern power systems. An SE problem formed with enough phasor measurement units (PMUs) data is simply a linear weighted least squares problem requiring no iterations. Thus, designing a minimum-cost placement of PMUs that guarantees observability of a power system becomes a worthy challenge. This paper proposes an equivalent integer linear programming method for substation-oriented optimal PMU placement (SOOPP). The proposed method uses an exhaustive search to determine a globally optimal solution representing the best PMU placement for that particular power system. To obtain a more comprehensive model, contingencies and the limitation of the number of PMU measurement channels are considered and embodied in the model as changes to the original constraints and as additional constraints. The proposed method is examined for applicability using the IEEE 14-bus, 118-bus and 300-bus test systems. The comparison between SOOPP results and results obtained by other methods reveals the excellence of SOOPP. Furthermore, practical large-scale power systems are also successfully analyzed using SOOPP.

This paper describes a strategy of a daily optimal operational scheduling on the industrial cogeneration system. The cogeneration system selected to establish the scheduling consists of three units and several auxiliary devices which include three auxiliary boilers, t재 waste boilers and three sludge incinerators. One unit generated electrical and thermal energy using the back pressure turbine. The other two units generate the energy using the extraction condensing turbine. Three auxiliary devices operate to supply energy to the loads with three units. The cogeneration system is able to supply enough the thermal energy to the thermal load, however it can not sufficiently supply the electric energy to the electrical load. Therefore the insufficient electric energy is compensated by buying electrical energy from utility. In this paper, the evolutionary algorithms was applied to establish the optimal scheduling for the cogeneration systems. Also the GUI System was developed using established mathematics medeling and evolutionary algorithms in order that non-experts are able to establish operational scheduling. This results revel that the proposed modeling and strategy can be effectively applied to cogeneration system for paper mill.
Owing to mismatched feeder impedances in an islanded microgrid, the conventional droop control method typically results in errors in reactive power sharing among distributed generation (DG) units. In this study, an improved droop control strategy based on secondary voltage control is proposed to enhance the reactive power sharing accuracy in an islanded microgrid. In a DG local controller, an integral term is introduced into the voltage droop function, in which the voltage compensation signal from the secondary voltage control is utilized as the common reactive power reference for each DG unit. Therefore, accurate reactive power sharing can be realized without any power information exchange among DG units or between DG units and the central controller. Meanwhile, the voltage deviation in the microgrid common bus is removed. Communication in the proposed strategy is simple to implement because the information of the voltage compensation signal is broadcasted from the central controller to each DG unit. The reactive power sharing accuracy is also not sensitive to time-delay mismatch in the communication channels. Simulation and experimental results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
This paper presents a new algorithm which evaluates production cost and reliability indices under various constraints of the thermal generation system. In order to consider the operational constraints of thermal units effectively, the proposed algorithm is based on Monte Carlo techniques instead of analytical ones which have difficulty in modelling the units with additional constraints. At that point, generating units are modelled into two types, base load units and peaking units. These generating unit models are used in state duration sampling simulation for which approach can readily consider the peaking unit operating cycles and easily calculates frequency-duration indices. The proposed production simulation algorithm is applied to the IEEE Reliability Test System, and performs the production simulation under the given constraints. The results show that the proposed algorithm is accurate, reliable and useful.
