  • A electrical fault is defined as any abnormal condition caused by a reduction in the insulation strength. To define the potential risk of the electric installation, measurement of leakage current has been getting considered, but because the measured leakage current value also contained leakage current by capacitance, the measured value could not be adapted to absolute reference to the installation. Therefore, in this paper, the correlation between the condition of electric installation and leakage current were analyzed. The result focuses on to detect them in a cost efficient way.

  • This paper describes 3D Dimensional Measurement(EDM testing) and tensile testing results of carbody structure for crashed EMU(Electric Multiple Units). Tensile tests were performed on two different types of specimens in order to evaluate the strength changes before and after damages, obtained from plastic deformed area and nondeformed region of the crashed EMU. And Structural analysis of EMU was performed for the criteria of safety assessment. Structural analysis using commercial I-DEAS software provided important information on the stress distribution and load transfer mechanisms as well as the amount of damages during rolling stock crash. The testing results have been used to provide the critical information for the criteria of safety diagnosis.

  • Safety diagnosis on the driving system of electric train is performed using the vibration and noise signals of running railway train. Safety diagnosis is tried on the viewpoints of the appreciation of superannuation and the fault diagnosis of motor, reduction gear and boggie. The appreciation of superannuation is checked by the rms vibration levels of driving parts and the fault diagnosis is done by analyzing the frequencies of the vibration signals. The methods of measuring and analyzing the signals are decided on the basis of field 1-measured signals. The results shows that the vibration levels of each parts increase as the train goes older and each parts have their own frequency patterns of the vibration. As the results, the vibration and noise can be utilized successfully for the safety diagnosis of the driving part of electric train.

Study on Simulation Design of Light Emitting Diode Luminaires for 100 W Safety Street Lighting

  • Optical analysis is necessary to optimize light emitting diode (LED) safety street lighting. In this study, optical analysis was conducted for 100 W LED safety street lighting. Experimental research on such a single LED was the first undertaken. Simulation modeling based on the optical properties of the single LED has compared between average road illuminances and has them analyzed with Korean Industrial Standards for LED safety street lighting (KS C7658:2009). The simulation results demonstrated that the illumination performance (average road illuminance) was 75.3 lx at a height of 4 m and an area of $32\;m^2$, 45.25 lx at a height of 5 m and an area of $72\;m^2$, and 30.05 lx at a height of 6 m and an area of $128\;m^2$. 100 W safety street lighting (model CE180-ST-OS) designed by simulation was also compared between product and 100 W simulation modeling, and error rates averaged 5.6%. The 100 W LED safety street lighting base designed in simulation modeling was proven by comparison experiments. Through the simulations and the corresponding analysis, it was found that the tested 100 W LED safety street lamp had reasonable performance. The design method for LED safety street lamps has been summarized based on the optical analysis.

  • Electric of using in daily life is always exposed to risk of electrical fire and electric shock. Only degree of risk is different, there is no risk free electrical product. Generally, the higher voltage, the risk of electric shock is high. The much electric current, the risk of electrical fire is high. But, we can't help using electric because of risk and we effort to reduce the risk of electrical fire and electric shock. This study deal with the fire prevention generated on heating equipment using SSR for current.
