765 kV 송전선로의 345 kV 운전에 따른 계통 해석 (The analysis result of temporary operation of 765 kV transmission line as 345 kV rating)

  • This paper describes the power frequency voltage and its countermeasure when a 765 kV transmission line is directly connected to a 345 kV line and operated at 345 kV voltage. The summary of this result is as follows : The western route of 765 kV transmission line doesn't need any countermeasure to reduce the power frequency voltage at the receiving end. The eastern route of 765 kV transmission needs 100 Mvar(3 phase) capacity of shunt reactor at the receiving end to reduce the power frequency voltage. The use of shunt reactors in the 765 kV transmission lines has unexpected problems, one of which is induction of high voltages on a de-energized circuit of two parallel lines. This paper examined the problem of resonance on two parallel transmission circuits in one routes.

Study on Application of Reinforcement Device to Provide Greater Dynamic Stability for Power Transmission Towers and its Effect

  • To verify that the friction damper used to high buildings as a kind of control technology of wind vibration can reduce dynamic behaviors of PTTs effectively, slip dampers in this paper are proposed to absorb the energy through relatively frictional movement of slip dampers applied to main post of a PTT (Power Transmission Tower) when dynamic displacement of a PTT occurs. The result of dynamic analysis is presented to determine the capacity of the damper system by controlling damping ratio on the resonance condition. It is observed that by installing slip dampers at a PTT the strain amplitudes of the main post caused by wind load are effectively reduced. Therefore it is shown that the proposed damper satisfies the strengthened wind-load design standards, and its efficacy was also validated experimentally by field testing.

미래 전력 계통의 불확실성을 고려한 송전혼잡비용 분석 (An Analysis of Congestion Cost for Electric Power Transmission in Consideration of Uncertainty of Future Electric Power System)

  • It is expected that there will be delay of scheduled transmission network reinforcement and huge investment of renewable energy resources in Korea. As transmission capacity expansion delayed, supplying power to Seoul metropolitan area will not be increased as scheduled. In addition, uncertain renewable energy out of Seoul metropolitan area can cause transmission congestion in the future power system. These two combining effects will make the difference in locational marginal prices(LMP) and congestion costs increase. In that sense, this paper will analyze how much the congestion costs for Korea power system are incurred in the future power system. Most of previous approaches to analyze the congestion costs for electric power system are based on the optimal power flow model which cannot deal with hourly variation of power system. However, this study attempted to perform the analysis using market simulation model(M-Core) which has the capability of analyzing the hourly power generation cost and power transmission capacity, and market prices by region. As a result, we can estimate the congestion costs of future power system considering the uncertainty of renewable energy and transmission capacity.

  • In order for small electric vehicles to drive on hilly roads in Korea, methods to improve the climbing ability and power performance of vehicles should be taken. In order to improve the power performance of small electric vehicles, the performance of motors mounted on electric vehicles should be improved. However, if the performance of the motor is improved to improve the power performance of the electric vehicle, it is possible to lower the price competitiveness accordingly. In addition, the power consumption of the battery is rapidly increased to drive the high-performance motor, so in order to introduce the small electric vehicle into the domestic market, various problems must be overcome. In order to commercialize small electric vehicles that do not emit harmful exhaust gases to the human body in the hilly domestic terrain, it is effective to introduce a separate continuously variable transmission system that can improve the climbing ability and power transmission ability. In this study, we propose a proprietary model of continuously variable transmissions that can be applied to small electric vehicles. The proposed continuously variable transmission is equipped with a spring in the driving pulley and the driven pulley, and has the advantage of performing a shift that increases torque in a situation where the vehicle needs to increase torque when driving on a hill. In addition, the basic design for commercialization of the proposed continuously variable transmission was carried out, and the prototype manufactured and attached to the body of a small electric vehicle.

  • When a wide area blackout occurres, reenergizing transmission lines should be done at first. The KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) divides whole power system grid into seven subsystem, and each subsystem has one of two blackstart power plants which are usually hydro or combined-combustion type, one priority power plant which should be first supplied with electric energy, and transmission lines between them. Voltage rising, line charging, and operation stability problem should be considered when these lines are reenergized. In this paper, building-up process for primary transmission system that should be energized at first is analyzed.

  • This paper presents the test and operation results of the domestic demonstration of the reactive power compensation device called STATCOM (STATic COMpensator). The object of the paper is to describe the reliability of the unit based on the extensive operation databases. By controlling reactive power, the technology offers utilities the opportunity for increased efficiency and their capabilities will permit transmission planners make the best use of their existing transmission resources STATCOM is a custom power device in a way and can be used in a similar way for the dynamic compensation of power transmission systems, mitigation of voltage flicker and improving the power factor. It is shown that the STATCOM has clear advantages in areas such as: mitigation of voltage flicker and improving power factor.

지중 송전선로 대칭분 임피던스 해석을 위한 EMTP 전후처리기 개발과 활용 (Development and Application of Pre/Post-processor to EMTP for Sequence Impedance Analysis of Underground Transmission Cables)

  • Power system fault analysis has been based on symmetrical component method, which describes power system elements by positive, negative and zero sequence impedance. Obtaining accurate line impedances as possible are very important for estimating fault current magnitude and setting distance relay accurately. Especially, accurate calculation of zero sequence impedance is important because most of transmission line faults are line-to-ground faults, not balanced three-phase fault. Since KEPCO has started measuring of transmission line impedance at 2005, it has been revealed that the measured and calculated line impedances are well agreed within reasonable accuracy. In case of underground transmission lines, however, large discrepancies in zero sequence impedance were observed occasionally. Since zero sequence impedance is an important input data for distance relay to locate faulted point correctly, it is urgently required to analyze, detect and consider countermeasures to the source of these discrepancies. In this paper, development of pre/post processor to ATP (Alternative Transient Program) version of EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transient Program) for sequence impedance calculation was described. With the developed processor ATP-cable, effects of ground resistance and ECC (Earth Continuity Conductor) on sequence impedance were analyzed.

송전철탑 Compact화에 따른 전기환경 영향 연구 (A Study on the Environmental Effects of Compact Tower in Transmission Line)

  • The continuous increase demand for electric power leads to the additional construction of transmission facilities, but it is not easy to acquire right-of-way for transmission facilities. Therefor, there is a need for compact tower that can be built on a narrow right-of-way the compact tower with polymer insulation arm is a solution. It can be upgrading conventional 154 kV transmission line voltages to 345 kV levels. However transmission voltage is increasing, environment interference (corona noise, radio interference, etc.) will occur gradually. This environment interference is depending on the electrical clearances of tower and configuration of conductors. Therefore the analysis of the factors of environmental interference is necessary in order to upgrading transmission voltage. This paper presents the design factor of a compact tower to meet the environmental interference standard.

  • KEPCO conducted the project called the "Feasibility Study & Basic Designs for the 500kV Transmission System in Myanmar" as its second overseas project following the "Development Study on the Power System Network Analysis in Myanmar" as it first project. This paper deals with the design processes and results of 423 kilometers of the 500kV single circuit transmission lines and three substations. The main contents of the basic design include insulation design, transmission line design and substation design.
