  • This paper focuses on development of load test simulator of a steam turbine-generator in a nuclear power plant. When load is taken off from electrical power network, it is very difficult to effectively control the steam flow to turbine of the nuclear turbine-generator, because of disturbances, such as electrical load and network unbalance on electrical network. Up to the present time, the conventional control system has been used for the load control on nuclear steam generator, owing to the easy control algorithms and the advantage which have been proven on the nuclear power plant. However, since there are problems with stability control during low power and start-up, only a highly experienced operator can operate during those procedures. Also, a great deal of time and an expensive simulator is needed for the training of an operator. The KEPRI is developed simulator for 600MW nuclear power plant to take a test of generator load rejection, throttle valve, and turbine load control. Total load test is implemented before start up.

  • This paper describes a load simulator with power-recovery capability, which is based on the voltage source converter-inverter set. The load simulator described in this paper can save the electric energy that should be consumed to test the operation and performance of the distributed generation system and the power quality compensator. The load simulator consists of a converter-inverter set with a DSP controller for system control and PWM pulse generation. The converter operates as a universal load to model the linear load and the non-linear load, while the inverter feed the energy back to the power source with harmonic compensation. The load simulator can be widely used in the lab to test the performance of the distributed generation system and the power quality compensator.

  • The vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components: a generator and a battery, which have to provide numerous electrical and electronic systems with enough electrical energy. A detailed understanding of the characteristics of the electric power system, electrical load demands, and the driving environment such as road, season, and vehicle weight is required when the capacities of the generator and the battery are to be determined for a vehicle. An easy-to-use and inexpensive simulation program may be needed to avoid the over/under design problem of the electric power system. A vehicle electric power simulator is developed in this study. The simulator can be utilized to determine the optimal capacities of generators and batteries. To improve the expandability and easy usage of the simulation program, the program is organized in modular structures, and is run on a PC. Empirical electrical models of various generators and batteries, and the structure of the simulation program are presented. For executing the vehicle electric power simulator, data of engine speed profile and electric loads of a vehicle are required, and these data are obtained from real driving conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of the simulator, numerous driving data of a vehicle are logged and analyzed.

  • EPS (Electric Power Steering) is important device for improving vehicle's dynamics and static performances. This paper deals with simulator design for C-EPS (Colum type-EPS), development assist and returnability control algorithm. First, C-EPS system model was simply designed because EPS system is complex control system that has many unknown variables. These parameters were simplified through assumptions. Second, C-EPS simulator was designed for development of control algorithm. This simulator has SAS (Steering Angle Sensor), dual torque sensor, dual load cell for measuring rack force, dual linear actuator for generating tire force and Data Acquisition System. Using this simulator, control methods ware tested. Third, control algorithm was designed for torque assist and returnability. Assist torque map and returnability torque map were found by lots of simulation test. These torque maps were tuned for EPS actuator control. The simulation result was compared with non-EPS system result. In this research, the C-EPS simulator was designed for development of control algorithm about torque assistant and returnability. Using this simulator, control algorithm was improved.

철도 부하의 이동성을 반영한 변전소 정태부하모델링 수립에 대한 연구 (A Study on a Substation Static Load Model Including the Mobility of a Railway Load)

  • Nowadays, it is expected that mobility loads such as electric railways and electric vehicles will be penetrated gradually and affect on the power system stability by their load characteristics. Various researches have been carried out about electric vehicles for the recent decade though the load of electric railway could be forecasted because of the specified path and timetable, is a field with a long historic background. Some precise 5th polynomial equations are required to analyze the power system stability considering mobility load to be increased in the immediate future while the electric railway dispatching simulator uses load models with constant power and constant impedance for the system analysis. In this paper, seasonal urban railway load models are established as the form of 5th polynomial equations and substation load modeling methods are proposed merging railway station load models and general load models. Additionally, load management effects by the load modeling are confirmed through the case studies, in which seasonal load models are developed for Seoul Subway Line No. 2, Gyeongui Line and Airport Railroad and the substation load change is analyzed according to the railway load change.

  • 본 논문에서는 새로 개발된 전력품질 보상장치의 성능을 실험실에서 효과적으로 분석하기 위해 필요한 새로운 부하모의장치를 제안하였다. 제안하는 부하모의장치는 2대의 PWM 인버터가 직류 단을 공유한 구조로 선형과 비선형부하를 단일기기로 시험 가능하도록 설계되어 있다. 그리고 전력품질보상기의 하나인 능동전력필터와 연계시험을 수행하였다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 부하모의장치와 능동전력필터의 연계 특성을 분석할 목적으로 PSCAD/EMTDC 소프트웨어를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 실시하였고 또한 실적용시 타당성을 검증할 목적으로 20kVA 용량의 부하모의장치와 10kVA용량의 능동전력필터를 제작하여 실험을 실시하였다. 시뮬레이션과 하드웨어 실험결과 제안하는 부하모의장치는 능동전력필터의 다양한 보상 능력 검증에 충분히 활용가능함을 알 수 있었다.

  • HIL(Hardware-in-the-Loop) 개념을 적용하면 하이브리드 자동차용 부품의 자동차 환경에서의 특성을 부품을 차량에 장착하지 않고도 평가 할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문에서는 특정 전동기를 하이브리드 자동차용 전동기로 사용하였을 경우 자동차의 구동 특성을 분석할 수 있는 HIL 방식을 구현하기 위한 부품 특성 시험. 구동특성 시뮬레이션, 장치 구성 방법을 설명한다. 시험장치는 자동차 시뮬레이터, 부하장치로 구성되며 시뮬레이션에서 사용된 차량제어기를 직접 차량제어기로 사용하게 된다. 부하장치는 차량의 동적 특성을 모의하게 된다. 특히 기존의 차량의 관성을 모의하기 위한 기계적 관성부하를 사용하지 않고 부하장치를 능동적으로 제어 하여 차량에 적용되었을 경우의 전동기 특성을 구할 수 있다. 시험 전동기가 병렬방식 하이브리드 자동차에 적용되었을 경우의 전동기의 실제 특성을 구할 수 있다. 제안된 방식은 하이브리드 자동차의 구동 특성을 교육하기 위한 교육매체로 사용 될 수 있다.

  • Today, reduction of $CO_2$ exhaustion gas for global-warming prevention becomes important issues in all industrial fields. Hydraulic systems have been widely used in industrial applications due to high power density and so on. However hydraulic pump is always being operated by engine or electric motor in the conventional hydraulic system. Therefore most of the conventional hydraulic system is not efficient system. Recently, an electro-hydraulic hybrid system, which combines electric and hydraulic technology in a compact unit, can be adapted to a wide variety of force, speed and torque requirements. In the electro-hydraulic hybrid system, hydraulic pump is operated by electric motor only when hydraulic power is needed. Therefore the electro-hydraulic system can reduce the energy consumption drastically when compared to the conventional hydraulic systems. This paper presents a new kind of hydraulic load simulator which is composed of electro-hydraulic hybrid system. Disturbances in the real working condition make the control performance decrease or go bad. QFT controller is designed to eliminate or reduce the disturbance and improve the control performance of the electro-hydraulic load simulator. Experimental results show that the proposed controller is verified to apply for electro-hydraulic hybrid system with varied external disturbances.
