A Study on the Optimum Design Parameters of the Thermostat for Coolant Temperature Control of an Automotive Engine (자동차용 기관의 냉각수 온도조절을 위한 서머스탯의 최적설계 변수설정에 관한 연구)

  • It is widely recognized that exhaust emissions, fuel economy and engine torque are affected by engine temperature, and logic would suggest that a cooling system offering a better compromise of engine temperature would improve both overall engine performance and economy. Author measured coolant temperature of some parts and flow rate which are necessary to heat transfer in a engine. And Author determined parameters necessary for the optimum design of a thermostat to keep the best engine performance ; determined the optimum operating temperature of electric cooling fan. A summary of this study is followed. 1. Study of the effects of cooling condition to combustion character in a engine. 2. Analyze of heat transfer surrounding engine cylinders. 3. Study of the effects of cooling character to engine heat rejection, determination of the optimum collant temperature for keeping the optimum engine performance and determination of the optimum design of a thermostat for keeping that temperature.

  • A lot of conventional automotive components driven by mechanical power source are being replated with electrical ones to comply with the demands of market and customer, therefore the amount of electric energy used in a vehicle will be increased continuously. The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. This paper presents the design of the BLDC motor drive for Cooling Fan in 42V automotive system. Test results confirmed the feasibility of the proposed motor drive system design.

  • Recently as the environmental noise getting influential social problem, it is the fact that the demand on noise reduction increases with the advance of the standard of living. Therefore increasing the interest on the noise in common, it is eagerly demanded that the endeavour for reducing the noise of the rotating machinery, especially the machinery related a flowing including the household electric products, which is pointed out the primary noise source in environment. As proceeding study for fan noise, theory of fan noise property is arranged and this control method is shown. Blade passage noise of total noise spectrum. Thus in the aspect of noise reduction, noise source and identification of noise radiation characteristics of axial flow fan are demanded in detail. The sound source is analyzed by using sound pressure and sound intensity. In that time, synchronization of axial flow fan using optical sensor is executed, and to identify the location of exact noise source in the fan profile determination of recording time is proposed. In the rotating of tan, it is explained that the location of noise source exists in and by the directivity, the noise radiation pattern of axial flow fan is determined and the flow of sound is visualized in the figure of contour mapping.

  • The rise in pressure across the impeller blade of an axial flow fan depends on the angle of attack. At a low back pressure, the air volume will be large and the angle of attack is small. The gradual increase of the back pressure approached stall zone which is not stationary but travels blade to blade passage. In consequence, a region occurs around these blades with large vibration in the flow. To avoid these stall operation, the stall detector in the axial flow fans has been designed to detect stalling condition with a manometer or differential pressure switch by electric mechanism.

  • 본 논문은 초음파센서와 적외선센서를 이용하여 그 신호를 받아 주 모터를 제어한 것으로, 센서를 이용한 선풍기의 풍향 및 풍속을 제어하였다. 풍향제어는 인체감지센서와 ATmega128, DC모터를 사용하였고, 기본적으로 WmAVR과 PonyProg를 사용하여 소스코딩 및 다운로딩을 하였으며, 모터 구동드라이버는 모터제어에 범용으로 쓰이는 L298 칩을 사용하였다. 풍속제어는 초음파센서와 ATmeBa16, DC모터를 사용하여 제작하였고, 풍향제어부와 마찬가지로 WinAVR과 PonyProg 및 L298 칩을 사용하여 소스코딩 및 다운로딩을 하였다. 풍향제어는 물체가 정면에 위치하면 회전을 멈추고, 좌우로 $100^{\circ}$ 반경이내에서 거리 1m내외의 물체를 감지하도록 설계하였다. 풍속제어는 물체까지의 거리를 최소 3cm 최대 3m 이내에서 물체를 감지하여 모터의 속도를 제어할 수 있도록 하였고, 모터속도는 DC모터를 PWM 방식으로 제어하여 속도를 조절하였다.

  • It is important to diminish noise source of an electric motor used in appliances. We studied on the noise reduction of BLDC motor to drive a fan. Especially, this study was focused on detent torque caused by interaction between a permanent magnet of rotor and groove in stator. This source and rotating system brought about a resonance. This paper showed that the higher harmonic component of this torque had a main factor to lessen noise. So, we had designed new magnets with shape like a peanut and pseudo-sinusoidal flux density for low-noise BLDC motor in refrigerator.

  • This paper is purposed to analyze electric leakage component which can prevent electrical fires on breaker capacity expansion and power failure by operation of ELB(Earth leakage breaker) for stable sizes. In order to analysis for electric leakage component for stable sizes, this paper studied field state investigation which are at stable companies( 10 companies) in cheong-won location to deduce the problems of electric leakage component is analyzed. The field state experiment method is measured with electric leakage component which load part of ELB detected by electric loads(electrical fan, lighting, auto waterer, feeder and halogen lighting) and stable sizes. Results show that electric leakage component suggested in this paper are valuable and usable to electrical fire in leakage current based on environment factor, which will prevent severe damage to human beings and properties and reduce the electrical fires in stable.

Design and Development of Large Electric Curtain Control System for Time Controlled (대형전동커튼 타임제어 시스템 설계 및 개발)

  • The purpose of this paper is to design a curtain control system for centralized management of large curtains, which includes curtain structure, electric curtain controller, communication system, user interface and remote control. Curtain structure is designed to avoid using limit switch. The system is based on microprocessor, determined the stop position and complete running time of electric curtain through time control, and achieved remote control of curtain opening and closing through wired and wireless communication modes. By establishment of a mathematical model to calculate the inertia compensation time of the electric curtain, the electric curtain can be stopped ahead of time, and the curtain can be completely closed by the inertia. The result of test experiment of 32 electric curtain controllers shows the communication success rate reached 100%.

Vibration Reduction of Electric Hand Grinder (전동 핸드그라인더의 진동 저감#)

  • The vibration of an electric hand grinder originates from the motor, gear, bearing, and fan. Its excessive vibration can be harmful to workers. To reduce the vibration of an electric hand grinder. frequency analysis for the vibration signals of a running electric hand grinder and modal test for the each part were done. The results show that the vibration is due to the resonance of the case. To remove the resonance, the case structure was modified and the bearing cap was replaced on a basis of the results of the rotor dynamic analysis using SAMCEF. As a result, the vibration of the electric hand grinder was reduced greatly.

A Study on the Development of Greenhouse Temperature Control System by Using Micro-computer (Micro-computer를 이용(利用)한 Greenhouse의 온도제어(溫度制御) System 개발(開發)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was carried out for the development of greenhouse temperature control system by modifying an APPLE-II microcomputer attached with several interface systems. The interface systems are composed of 12 bit A/D converter, output port, multiplexer, time clock, etc. Under the operation of developed system, the greenhouse temperature was to be manipulated within the setting temperatures assumed to be appropriate for certain plant growth. The temperature control equimpents installed in the greenhouse are one-speed propeller type fan and two-phase electric heater, which are selectively started or stopped according to the control logic programmed in the control system. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The difference between two temperatures measured by the developed system and the self-recording thermometer calibrated with standard thermometer was less than $1^{\circ}C$. 2. When the temperature were measurd by 12 bit A/D converter and both electric heater and ventilation fan were controlled by developed ON/OFF logic, greenhouse temperature showed narrow fluctuation bands of less than $1^{\circ}C$ near the setting temperatures. 3. The temperature acquisition and control system developed in this study is expected to be applicable to environment control system such as greenhouse only by modifying the logic based on long term experimental data. 4. In order to reduce the measurement error and to increase the system control efficiency, it is recommended that continuous study should be carried out in the aspect of eliminating various systematic noises and improving the environmental control logic.
