IoT based Wearable Smart Safety Equipment using Image Processing (영상 처리를 이용한 IoT 기반 웨어러블 스마트 안전장비)

  • With the recent expansion of electric kickboards and bicycle sharing services, more and more people use them. In addition, the rapid growth of the delivery business due to the COVID-19 has significantly increased the use of two-wheeled vehicles and personal mobility. As the accident rate increases, the rule related to the two-wheeled vehicles is changed to 'mandatory helmets for kickboards and single-person transportation' and was revised to prevent boarding itself without driver's license. In this paper, we propose a wearable smart safety equipment, called SafetyHelmet, that can keep helmet-wearing duty and lower the accident rate with the communication between helmets and mobile devices. To make this function available, we propose a safe driving assistance function by notifying the driver when an object that interferes with driving such as persons or other vehicles are detected by applying the YOLO v5 object detection algorithm. Therefore it is intended to provide a safer driving assistance by reducing the failure rate to identify dangers while driving single-person transportation.

  • Recently, e-Mobility, which is a personal mobility device such as an electric bicycle or an electric scooter, is rapidly emerging. However, since E-Mobility has various voltage systems due to the characteristics of its products, it is essential for companies that operate them to use multiple dedicated chargers. A universal charger capable of charging batteries of various voltage systems with one charger is required to reduce the cost of purchasing and managing multiple dedicated chargers. For this, information on the EOC(End of Charge) is essential. In order to know the EOC, it is necessary to detect the internal impedance of the battery. However, the internal impedance of the battery changes according to various conditions such as SOH(State Of Health), SOC(State Of Charge), and ambient temperature. By observing the change in these parameters, the state of the battery can be diagnosed and the EOC can be predicted. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to analyze the battery's internal impedance and to predict the EOC, in order to acquire information on the EOC of the battery, which is an essential requirement of a universal charger.

  • In this paper, we propose a device for detect front object using low-price the CW Doppler sensor to prevent safety accident such as a bicycle, an electric wheelchair users. For this propose, we develop a signal process board and the object motion detect algorithm using to analyzing output signal of the CW Doppler sensor. Output signal from CW Doppler sensor is analog I and analog Q. The CW Doppler sensor shows phase I and phase Q of object differently when the object approach, stop, drop by sensor. We develop an algorithm that can detect object by discrimination information of phase using the CW Doppler sensor. The verification use firmware of applied hardware and algorithm. Then, the motion information can be confirming output depending on motion object by experiment normally. As a result, we check that the sensing information output by following motion of object and confirm an algorithm and motion of signal processing board.

  • Recently, the demand for notebook PC with lithium ion batteries has steadily increased and consumers require them to adopt a SBP(smart battery pack) able to predict the remaining capacity and the run time of batteries precisely. The SBP is composed of a protection If, by which safety of lithium ion batteries is maintained against overcharge, overdischarge and overcurrent, and a smart IC, which calculates the remaining capacity and the remaining run time. The protection IC shut abmormal current down by using overcharge/overdischarge FET. A SBS(smart battery system) is composed of a system host, a smart battery and a smart battery charger. The smart ICs for SBP will be required to provide a low cost, low current consumption and small size. There will need to develop a microcomputer control type IC and an optimum algorism which is able to predict the residual capacity and the residual run time precisely. SBS will apply to many kinds of industry fields such as an electric bicycle, an electric vehicle, a load levelling and a military.

  • Contrary to urban development, urban regeneration is a process of land development through conservation, restoration, and management. In particular, ecologically based urban regeneration is an attempt to improve the quality of life in an area, establish a stable settlement space, and revitalize the local economy by considering the ecological environment. In this regard, the objectives of this study were to establish theoretical concepts and analyze the successful foreign cases of ecologically based urban regeneration, and propose a direction of socio-economic regeneration along with the physical-environmental regeneration of urban areas in Korea. The study results suggest the following. First, strategies must be developed to coordinate public transportation, such as buses and subways, by considering the importance of bicycle riders, along with the sustainable-commuting system. Second, both the importance of planning parks and trails around water systems in various scales while maintaining the existing natural environment as well as using natural elements, such as electric vehicles and wind-power generation systems, were emphasized. Third, urban regeneration for increased energy efficiency requires specific architectural planning and facilities. Fourth, education and research for easy access by the public, as well as public-private partnership, will be needed in the regeneration process.
