  • An analytical method is presented to investigate electromagnetothermoelastic behaviors of a hollow sphere composed of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM), placed in a uniform magnetic field, subjected to electric, thermal and mechanical loads. For the case that material properties obey an identical power law in the radial direction of the FGPM hollow sphere, exact solutions for electric displacement, stresses, electric potential and perturbation of magnetic field vector in the FGPM hollow sphere are determined by using the infinitesimal theory of electromagnetothermoelasticity. Some useful discussion and numerical examples are presented to show the significant influence of material inhomogeneity. The aim of this research is to understand the effect of composition on electromagnetothermoelastic stresses and to design optimum FGPM hollow spheres.

  • This paper deals with the physical properties and statistical analysis of waveform parameters of electric and magnetic folds radiated from lightning return strokes. The lightning electric and magnetic fields were detected by an plate-type electric field sensor and a loop-type magnetic field sensor respectively, and they were recorded by a data acquisition system having a resolution of 12bits, a sampling rate of 10[MS/s] and recording length of 10[ms]. As a result, a little difference between the parameters of electric and magnetic fields for positive and negative polarities was observed. The rise times of electric and magnetic fields were within the range of less than $13[{\mu}s]$ and the average values for positive and negative polarities were $4.1[{\mu}s]\;and\;4.2[{\mu}s]$, respectively. The average values of the zero-to zero crossing times were $65.2[{\mu}s]\;and\;67.0[{\mu}s]$, and the average depths of the dip to opposite polarity were 38.0[%] and 40.3[%], for positive and negative polarities, respectively.

  • Magnetic levitation forces and trapped magnetic fields of top-seeded melt growth-processed YBCO superconductors with multiseeding were studied. The number of seeds was varied from one to six. The surface magnetic field of the prepared YBCO samples was dependent on the number of the seeds. The trapped magnetic field of the top surface decreased with increasing the number of the seed. Particularly, it drastically decreased at the YBCO grain boundary, probably due to the weak rink nature of the boundary. The magnetic levitation force also decreased with increasing the number of the seeds, similar to the variation of the surface magnetic field.

  • The magnetic anisotropy field plays an important role in spin-orbit-torque-induced magnetization dynamics with electric current injection. Here, we propose a magnetometric technique to measure the magnetic anisotropy field in nanostructured ferromagnetic thin films. This technique utilizes a magneto-optical Kerr effect microscope equipped with two-axis electromagnets. By measuring the out-of-plane hysteresis loops and then analyzing their saturated magnetization with respect to the in-plane magnetic field, the magnetic anisotropy field is uniquely quantified within the context of the Stoner-Wohlfarth theory. The present technique can be applied to small nanostructures, enabling in-situ determination of the magnetic anisotropy field of nanodevices.

  • Magnetic switch is a kind of saturable inductor, which utilizes nonlinearity of the magnetization curve of ferromagnetic materials. The right understanding of the saturation phenomena, magnetic properties, voltage-time product, and switching characteristics of the magnetic switch is essential in designing the magnetic pulse compressor (MPC). In this paper, the historical background of research on the MPC, fundamental physical properties of the magnetic switches, and application fields of the MPC are presented. Further, an in-depth analysis of pulse compression in series and parallel MPCs is incorporated. As practical application examples, a series MPC used for water treatments and a parallel MPC used for pulsed electric field (PEF) inactivation of bacteria are cited.

  • The effective way of estimation and analysis of EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) in Wireless Power Transfer System operating at 13.56 MHz is proposed. In this paper methodology of driving magnetic field strength and electric loop current of two antennas which are in free space and on PEC plane using image theory and duality is proposed. Perfect electric conductor(PEC) is planar, infinite in extent, and perfectly conducting plane. And we will refer it as PEC plane. A equivalent circuit model is used to analyze. Using this theoretical analysis, we can derive maximum magnetic field strength of the far-field region numerically using measured data of near-field maximum magnetic field strength. The experimental results using commercial numerical simulation tool are in agreement with the theoretical results. Also, using the derivation of maximum magnetic field strength in the far-field region, we can easily estimate the maximum allowable power dissipation that meets EMI regulations.

  • Electric railway system consists of rolling stock, track, signal and catenary system. ATP system in railway signaling system is the important one grasping the position and velocity of a train. The wayside device of ATP system is installed between rails. Recently, the research about increasing train speed has been developed in total departments of the railroad systems. The study on the information transmission between on-board device and wayside device is required for increasing the train speed in the ATP system. When the train speed is increased as to same transmission distance, the problem on information transmission occurs because the transmission time is decreased. In case that the transmission distance is extended, the transmission time is decreased with respect to the train speed. Therefore, we have to define the standard magnetic field intensity as to the train speed in order to transmit correctly telegram. In this paper, the transmission distance for the telegram is suggested on the basis of the train speed. Also, the standard magnetic field intensity from the wayside device to on-board device is proposed by using transmission distance regarding the train speed in the ERTMS/ETCS system by using Matlab program. Also, BER according to the train speed is presented by calculating electric field intensity from the magnetic field intensity.

  • In this paper, we investigate the magneto-impedance(M1) effect of the FeCoSiB amorphous magnktic films. The amorphous magnetic film having near zero magnetostriction is fabricated by using the sputtering method, and then annealed in magnetic field. When the external magnetic field is directly applied to the fabricated film, the voltage amplitude between both side of the magnetic film varies about 76.2% at 120[MHzl and the impedance varies about 2.1%/0e. Thus, we find that the fabricated magnetic film has the characteristics of good sensor element.

  • This paper demonstrates the key parameter detection for smelting of submerged arc furnace (SAF) based on magnetic field radiation. A magnetic field radiation model for the inner structure of SAF is established based on relative theory of electromagnetic field. A simple equipment of 3D magnetic field detection system is developed by theoretical derivation and simulation. The experiments are carried out under the environment of industrial field and AC magnetic field generated by electrode currents and molten currents in the furnace is reflected outside of the furnace. The experimental results show that the key parameters of smelting including the position of electrode tip, the length of electric arc, and the liquid level of molten bath can be achieved. The computed tomography for SAF can be realized by the detection for smelting.

  • The electric wave propagation characteristics of electromagnetic field by induction current shows a nonlinear distinction in the metal but linear on air. This paper is written about the magnetic transmission distinction in the metalic tube, which wrapped the center axis by the same direction. The electromagnetic field made by the transmission signal is transferred from the transmission coil area toward the receiving coil by the magnetic diffusion. So, it is different magnetic flux around the coil with one in the remote field area. Analyzing such a complex magnetic characteristic, we verified this theory by the vector analysis and presented eddy current mechanism and analytical model about magnetic distribution in the remote field area. This magnetic distribution rate in metal body will be very useful in the nondestructive inspection of the eddy current in remote field which is recently rising as a new technology.
