  • The common rail diesel engine used in this study uses mechanically driven camshaft for the operation of intake and exhaust valves, and the timing of valve opening and closing is fixed according to the operating conditions of the vehicle. However, the electric generator engine operates at a constant speed and partial load. Therefore, in order to optimize the design of common rail diesel engine for power generation, the characteristics of diesel combustion and emissions according to the change of valve timing were examined and calculated in terms of fuel economy. The valve timing of the diesel engine influenced the combustion characteristics by changing the intake and exhaust flow and it was considered that the fuel efficiency of the generator could be improved.

  • High speed on-off electro-magnetic valves have been used for pressure control or flow control in automotive or construction machine servomechanisms. These systems require quicker valve switching speed to improve control preciseness. The authors designed and manufactured an electric valve driver with quick response characteristics by using 3 power source type valve driver concept. In experiments by using a hydraulic system incorporating the new valve driver, the new driver shortened the switching lag time from 5 ms to 1.3 ms. And also the new driver showed excellent position tracking control performances.

  • This paper describes oil water separator using difference of electrical resistor. Oil is a non-conductive element and water is a relatively high conductive element. It is possible to detect water included in oil. Electric sensor is formed 8mm iron stick. Valve is operated With controller inputting signal of electric sensor. A experiment was done for necessary voltage in making program of controller. Oil water separator which was tested in field conditions was saved 7% of whole oil and was drained over 150% water than manual valve.

  • Stem-stem nut coefficient of friction(COF) in motor-operated gate/globe valves is one of the important factors which determine the performance of the valve/actuators. The COF is affected greatly by the type and condition of the stem-stem nut lubricants, environmental parameters, surface condition of the stem/stem-nuts, and the number of strokes after the lubrication. In this paper, the measured data of the COFs at stem threads of some safety-related motor-operated gate/globe valves in domestic nuclear power plants are presented. In addition, the performance of the lubricants is evaluated by comparing the COFs among those valves. The results show that the measured COF at torque switch trip are higher than the unwedging COF and conservatively applicable to the unwedging COF. It is also shown that the lubricating performance based on the measured COFs varies with the lubricants.

  • VSC technology is now well established in HVDC and is, in many respects, complementary to the older Line Commutated Converter (LCC) technology. Despite the various advantages of VSC technology, VSC HVDC stations have higher power losses than LCC stations. Although the relative advantages and disadvantages are well known within the industry, there have been very few attempts to quantify these factors on an objective basis. This paper describes methods to determine the operating losses of every component in the valve of VSC-HVDC system. The losses of the valve, including both conduction losses and switching losses, are treated in detail.

  • A pneumatic servo system requiring a fine gap control in a photo-electric sensor which is used for a LCD array detection device is introduced. The gap controlled by the pneumatic servo system remains within around 50~80 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and the system possesses an effect to eliminate undesirable particles on the LCD plate by blowing air out. The air flow rate is initially controlled by a servo valve and expanded by a booster valve, thus the controlled air pressure contributes to maintaining an appropriate gap between the LCD plate and photo-electric sensor An air floating plate of two degrees of freedom is designed and fabricated, and a fine tilting motion control is also implemented by assigning different gap commands. The pressure control and direct gap control are proposed, and each performance is verified experimentally.

  • After steam turbines in power plant drives generator and maintains it at rated speed using high temperature and high pressure steam energy, they regulate the output of generator when synchronized in parallel with the power system. By the way, as the steam flow into turbine can not be reduced fast even though the electrical load is lost, the turbine gets into dangerous situation due to the increase of its speed. At this time, the duty of the turbine governor is "how to limit the speed within its overspeed trip setpoint and escape from danger." In order to implement this purpose, there are various ways different from valve position control. So, in this paper, the various methods for overspeed protection are introduced in comparison with valve position control.

  • In this paper, design by magnetic analysis software and proportional control of solenoid for pressure valve for electric pressure cooker is described. The validation of design was proved by 3D finite element analysis results. Also the efficiency of an air ventilation mechanism was considered when pressure was happened by fluid analysis results. The linear proportional control system by AVR was manufactured and its validation was proved by pressure control of solenoid.
