A Study of on a Power Control System for a Solar-Electric Vehicle (태양광-전기자동차의 동력제어시스템에 관한 연구)

  • The intensity of sunlight becomes lower when weather conditions change, which affects whether a solar-electric vehicle can be driven on a shady road. The power delivered by solar cells can be vary depending on the amount of shade. As a result, the battery system is often used to compensate for variations in the power delivered by solar cells. Therefore, studies of power control systems for solar-electric vehicles are required. In this paper, mathematical models for such a power control system are studied and important variables are considered. Simulation and test results show that the mathematical model and actual designs developed here would be effective when used with solar-electric vehicles.

  • This is to discuss on the robust identification method using the Caratheodory -Fejer theorem. The robust identification method in this paper points out the question at issue brought from numerical analysis in case of Zhou and Kimura method and carries out recursive computation considering the presence of probable noise. Effectiveness of the proposed method is verified theoretically through the numerical simulation.

  • In recent years, ESS (Energy Storage System) has been widely used in various parts of a power system. Especially, due to its fast response time and high ramp rate, ESS is known to play an important role in regulating grid frequency and providing rotational inertia. As the number of installed and commercially operating ESSs increases, the reliability becomes an important issue. This paper introduces control schemes and presents its test method for grid-connected ESS for primary frequency regulation. The test method allows to verify the control operation in the individual operation mode and state. A validation of the method through actual ESS test in a electrical substation is presented in the case study section.

A Study on the Design of Compact Polymer Bushing with Inner Control Shield (내부쉴드 구조에 따른 컴팩트한 폴리머 부싱 설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes a study on the design of compact polymer bushing with inner control shield. In the bushing, a high electric stress occurred between field shaper and central conductor by the closely space. Also coaxial cylindrical shield has a great height along the axis to control an electric field. Consequently, all the potentials are raised axially along the field shaper and electric stress is concentrated on a part of the surface of the FRP tube near the upper end of the field shaper. In accordance, the field control can be achieved by means of the designs of such inner control shields. The floating and ring shield designs was decreased electric field concentration at critical parts of the bushing. The shield gaps is formed between field shaper and ring shield. Accordance equipotential lines extend through gaps. As a result, the resulting electrical stress are thus reduced in the range $17{\sim}23%$ in the bushing with floating and ring shield designs. Maxwell 2D simulator based on the boundary element method was also introduced in order to verify the reliability of the polymer bushing. The optimized design uses internal elements for electric stress grading at critical parts of the bushing.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a functional improvement solution of integrated control board for safe driving of Smart electric wheelchair for a single person. In the case of existing electric wheelchair products in Korea and elsewhere, safety-related functions or devices are not included in many cases. Therefore, the incidence of electric wheelchair-related accidents is continuously increasing in the current situation in which the elderly and the disabled people have been continuously increased. However, currently only high and middle-priced products are equipped with basic safety devices in electric wheelchairs, so low-priced products require safety related functions. Therefore, sensing obstacles that the user can not recognize while moving an electric wheelchair and detecting automatically the terrain change to control the motor by developing a smart control platform. This provides an integrated control board that can be applied to various electric wheelchairs for more stable driving.

  • This paper deals with development of the driving-will control system in power-assisted electric wheelchair. Nowadays, population of elderly people has been increased rapidly, and also an electric wheelchair has been considered as the device for the elderly. Especially, power-assisted electric wheelchair can overcome problems that a conventional electric wheelchair holds, such as lack of movement of wheelchair user. In this paper, we propose the sensors system to measure the driving-will force and perform the control action for a power-assisted electric wheelchair. And motion performance of the proposed system is verified through the experiment.

  • This paper presents a new adaptive converter control approach for electric motor systems whose voltage source is excited from photovoltaic (PV) power generators. First, an electric model is represented with dynamic states and output velocity of such DC motor systems. We propose a hybrid converter control law in which a state feedback control is applied as an auxiliary control framework. Moreover, control parameter estimation is derived to realize adaptive converter systems for effective control performance against stochastic PV power excitation in practice. We carry out stability analysis for such converter system by using a well-known eigenvalue theory. Lastly, numerical simulation is conducted to test reliability of the proposed converter control approach and prove its superiority in the control point of view.

  • In electric motor coaches, when the adhesion force coefficient between rail and driving wheel decreases suddenly, the electric motor coach has slip phenomena. The characteristics of adhesion force coefficient is strongly affected by the conditions between rails and driving wheels, such as moisture, dust, and oil on the rails and so on. This paper proposes the vector control structure for the improved re-adhesion control with paralleled control of induction motors under the sudden variation of the adhesion force coefficient.

  • In this paper, serious changes in the electromagnetic environment with increasing power and energy capabilities for electric driving and military mission are discussed. Design and control strategies on the Electro-Magnetic Compatibility(EMC) for the series hybrid electric vehicle are proposed to minimize the effects of electromagnetic interferences.

  • EPS (Electric Power Steering) is important device for improving vehicle's dynamics and static performances. This paper deals with simulator design for C-EPS (Colum type-EPS), development assist and returnability control algorithm. First, C-EPS system model was simply designed because EPS system is complex control system that has many unknown variables. These parameters were simplified through assumptions. Second, C-EPS simulator was designed for development of control algorithm. This simulator has SAS (Steering Angle Sensor), dual torque sensor, dual load cell for measuring rack force, dual linear actuator for generating tire force and Data Acquisition System. Using this simulator, control methods ware tested. Third, control algorithm was designed for torque assist and returnability. Assist torque map and returnability torque map were found by lots of simulation test. These torque maps were tuned for EPS actuator control. The simulation result was compared with non-EPS system result. In this research, the C-EPS simulator was designed for development of control algorithm about torque assistant and returnability. Using this simulator, control algorithm was improved.
