  • This paper presents a design and characteristics analysis of interior permanent magnet (IPM) type BLDC motor for electric vehicle. In order to design of IPM type BLDC motor, surface mounted permanent magnet(SPM) type BLDC motor is used as the initial design model. According to the size of permanent magnet, the steady state characteristics is analysized by equivalent magnetic circuit method. The characteristics analysis results of the designed motor is compared with the experimental results.

  • This paper presents a driving controller for the electric vehicle using BLDC motor. The system consists of a BLDC motor, an IGBT Inverter and digital controller. The special featare of the driving controller are discussed, with emphasis s on the optimize the performance of the system. Also, Some experimental verification of the drive performance is given.

  • It is very important to diminish noise source of electric motor systems that are used for home appliance area. We have studied on the noise reduction of BLDC motor, mainly focusing on reducing noise source from cogging torque. This noise source causes resonance of fan & motor systems. This study showed that the higher harmonic component of the cogging torque was the main factor for noise generation. Therefor, to reduce noise of bldc motor for refrigerator, this study suggested peanut shaped magnet which surface flux has similar sinusoidal wave form.

  • 본 논문은 한국교통대학교 태양광 자작 자동차 동아리 늘해랑에서 WSC(World Solar Challenge)에 참가하기 위해 제작한 Solar Car 구동시스템에 대하여 서술한다. WSC는 세계 최대의 태양광 자동차 경주 대회로 별도의 자동차 규정을 가지고 있어 태양전지 면적이나 배터리 용량등에 제약을 두기 때문에, 제한된 규정내에서 최대 에너지 효율을 가지도록 구동시스템을 설계하는 것이 가장 중요한 기술적인 팩터이다. Solar car의 구동시스템은 태양광 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환해주기 위한 solar array, 변환된 전기에너지를 최대 출력으로 추적하기 위한 MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracker) controller, 생산된 전기에너지를 저장하기 위한 battery, 전기에너지를 역학에너지로 변환하여 차량 구동을 위한 BLDC(Brushless DC) motor, BLDC motor를 제어하기 위한 motor controller 등으로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 최적 구동 시스템을 위해 태양전지 에너지 변환 시스템과 배터리, 모터로 구성된 전기 구동시스템 설계에 대한 내용을 포함하고 있다.

ETC 구동용 BLDC 제어시스템의 홀센서리스 위치제어를 위한 신호처리기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Signal Processing Method for the Hall Sensorless Position Control of ETC Control System using a BLDC Motor)

  • This paper describes an signal processing method for the hall sensorless position control of ETC control system using a BLDC motor. The proposed ETC control system, which is mainly consisted of a BLDC motor, a throttle plate, a return spring and reduction gear, has a position sensor with an analog voltage output on the throttle valve instead of BLDC motor for detecting rotor position of motor. So the additional commutation information is necessarily needed to control the mentioned ETC module. In order to estimate and determine the commutation state, it is proposed to properly manipulate the resolution of A/D converter considering the mechanical parameter, that is, the number of motor slot and the ratio of reduction gear. Through this method, the estimation of commutation state for operating the system is possible and the discrete signal for commutation is stably obtained. The validity of the method is examined through the experimental results.

가변이득 PI 제어기를 이용한 BLDC 모터의 속도제어 (Speed Control of Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor using Variable Gain PI Controller)

  • This paper provides a technical review of speed control using variable gain PI algorithm for BLDC(Brushless DC) motor. Usually the PI control is used in many motor applications, but a general PI control has problems of overshooting and disturbance for response. By the change of PI gain in motor control operation, these problems can be solved. To find the optimized PI gains for BLDC motor control, many control methods have been proposed. In this paper, the control algorithm with a variable PI gain is applied to improve overshooting response in transient region and rapid load disturbance rejection. Fixed gain and variable gain PI controls are compared. The validity of the propose method is verified by experiment.

  • Recently, the 2-phase brushless DC motor has been used in electric home appliance for low price and low energy consumption. In this paper, we analyzed a 2-phase BLDC motor using time-step finite element method. And the validity of analysis is confirmed by measuring the flux distribution on the surface of permanent magnet and back-EMF. As well, we have calculated the dynamic characteristics of target motor considering the Hall sensor position. So, we have found the optimum switching position, and improved performance of 2-phase BLDC motor.

Low Cost Design Study of Brushless DC Motor for Electric Water Pump Application

  • We studied about the rotor design change using a Ferrite ring magnet to reduce material cost in the condition of the same stator core design. However, this design direction has many weak points such as the decrease of BEMF, the low maximum output, the irreversible demagnetization characteristics of a permanent magnet and so on. In order to mitigate such disadvantages, an optimization design of the BLDC motor has been developed by changing each design parameter and by improving the electromagnetic structure. In the proposed water pump SPM BLDC motor using Ferrite magnet, the outer and inner diameter of stator is fixed to the value of the conventional IPM BLDC motor using Nd-Fe-B magnet. The design specification requirements should be satisfied with the same output power and efficiency characteristics in the same dimension. As a result of this study, the design comparison results considering driving performances and material cost are represented. Through the actual experiment with the prototype of the designed motor, the simulations results are verified.

  • A robust position control system for a BLDC motor using new sliding mode control strategy is presented. Using the new variable structure system, reaching phase problem is eliminated and transient response is largely improved by design of nonlinear sliding surface. The design of the sliding mode position controller is robust in motor parameter, load variations and disturbance. Experiment results show that the proposed approach can achieve accurate position motor tracking in face of large parameter variations and external disturbances, such as a robot arm, etc.

  • It must be able to calculate thrust to design and manufacture linear BLDC motor by required specification. If magnetic energy with respect to displacement of mover of linear BLDC electric motor be obtained, thrust can be calculated. It can decide optimal design factor of linear BLDC motor through change of thrust by design variable using magnetic energy method. It can predict variation of thrust by pitch of pole and design optimally using coenergy that is attained from FEM.
