  • The power tools is the product using working power generated by electric motor. Many companies are manufacturing numerous devices. Main features of tools are included various assembled products, small, light and solid and durable enough to match several standards. Fundamental requirements for the product is excellent performance and convenience for use. The quality of them depends on the equipped motor'(s) capability, accuracy of gear and endurance against worn-out. By adapting the state-of-the-art parts, they could be used in the place from home to heavy industry broadly. They can be classified electronic drills, grinders, saws and sanders families for the household appliances. For industrial tools, bore drill, grinder, polisher, and driver drill are classified as special and high priced group. This study presents the strategy of power tool development of BOSCH, BLACK&DECKER and KEYANG. Their products were analyzed in terms of product line and product mix concept. Then they are examined by design elements, such as color, shape and material for housing. As an analysis method, the image scale parameter and criteria were applied to each company's product.

  • Small industrial appliances such as fan, audio, electric rice cooker mostly consist of ABS, PP, PS materials. In colored plastics, it is possible to classify by near infrared(NIR) spectroscopy, while in black plastics, it is very difficult to classify black plastic because of the characteristic of black material that absorbs the light. So the RBFNNs pattern classifier is introduced for sorting electrical and electronic waste plastics through LIBS(Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) spectrometer. At the preprocessing part, PCA(Principle Component Analysis), as a kind of dimension reduction algorithms, is used to improve processing speed as well as to extract the effective data characteristics. In the condition part, FCM(Fuzzy C-Means) clustering is exploited. In the conclusion part, the coefficients of linear function of being polynomial type are used as connection weights. PSO and 5-fold cross validation are used to improve the reliability of performance as well as to enhance classification rate. The performance of the proposed classifier is described based on both optimization and no optimization.

  • The wind turbines with a rated capacity of 50kW or less are generally considered as small class. Small wind turbines are an attractive alternative for off-grid power system and electric home appliances, both as stand-alone application and in combination with other energy technologies such as energy storage system, photovoltaic, small hydro or diesel engines. The research objective is to develop the 50kW scale wind turbine blades in ways that resemble as closely as possible with the construction and methods of utility scale turbine blade manufacturing. The mold process based on wooden form is employed to create a hollow, multi-piece, lightweight design using carbon fiber and fiberglass with an epoxy based resin. A hand layup prototyping method is developed using high density foam molds that allows short cycle time between design iterations of aerodynamic platforms. A production process of five blades is manufactured and key components of the blade are tested by IEC 61400-23 to verify the appropriateness of the design. Also, wind system with developed blades is tested by IEC 61400-12 to verify the performance characteristics. The results of blade and turbine system test showed the available design conditions for commercial operation.
