Early ontogenic development in Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baerii was documented and the effects of different temperatures on embryonic and prelarval development were examined. Photograph-assisted data on morphogenesis in Siberian sturgeon prolarvae agreed well with published descriptions of their ontogeny and ecological behaviors, although certain aspects of differentiation, such as gill covering and scute development, could be rearing condition-sensitive. The present study provides the first characterization of the transient development of teeth during early larval stages; the pattern was congruent with the transition of prolarvae to exogenous feeding. From examinations of embryonic and prelarval development under different temperature conditions ($12-24^{\circ}C$), developmental speed was inversely related with temperature. Overall, hatchability was higher and hatching events were more synchronized at $20^{\circ}C$ than at lower temperatures. After hatching, similar patterns of temperature-dependency were observed in yolk sac absorption and the evacuation of the pigment plug. Our results suggest that the incubation of Siberian sturgeon embryos and prolarvae at temperatures close to $20^{\circ}C$ would be advantageous in hatcheries, based on reductions in the duration and uniformity of egg and prolarval developmental stages.
The reproductive ecology of the purple shell, Rapana venosa was investigated by the histological observations on depositions of the egg capsules, and hatching of larvae in the laboratory and the subtidal zone of the vicinity of piung-do, Chollabud-do, west coast of korea, for one year from June 1992 to May 1993. The results are summarized as follows:1. Rapana venosa is dioecious in sex. The ovary is composed of a number of ovarian lobules, and the testis comprises a number of ovarian lobules, and the testis comprises of gonads could be classified into 4 stages in males and 5 stages in females: 1) growing stage(in female subdivided into 2 stages of early and late growing stage). 2)mature stage. 3)spent stage or copulationstage. 4)rdcovering stage. The early growing stage in females of the purple shell was in September through February, late gorwing stage was in October to March, mature stage was in September to January, mature stage was in September to July, copulation stage was in Februaty to June and recovering stage in April to October.3. Spawning occurred 3-4 times at intervals of 1-3 days, and completed within 10 days from the beginning of spawning during the spawning season of the year.4. From the results of laboratory and field observations, egg masses are composed of a number of egg capsules, egg masses are occurred from May to late August, and in mid August depositions of egg mass in composed of 90-113 egg capsules, fecundity in an egg capsule was ranged 984 to 1,241 eggs(average 1,096 egg). Therefore, fecundity in total egg capsules spawned per individual during the spawning season is estimated as approximately 320,000 to 450,000 egges.5. The incubation period during deposition of an egg capsule to hatching larvad tood 17 days at 18.3-20.4%C(water temperature)and 1.021 (specific gravity fo sea water).
We studied the effects of temperature and salinity on the egg development and hatching rate of chub mackerel Scomber japonicus under laboratory culturing condition. The fertilized eggs were transparent, spherical, separate in shape and turned out to be separately and floated, and they contained one oil globule. Fertilized eggs are $0.91{\sim}1.33\;mm$ in diameter. The time of egg development was positively proportional to water temperature with 70 hrs, 48 hrs, 42 hrs, 34 hrs, after fertilization in $16^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$, $24^{\circ}C$, $28^{\circ}C$, respectively. Hatching rate was highest with the range of $20{\sim}24^{\circ}C$ and $33{\sim}35\;psu$. The relation between the time of egg development (t: hour) and water temperature (T:$^{\circ}C$) was represented by the mathematical formulae. The mean biological minimum temperature was $6.9^{\circ}C$.

This study was conducted to estimate relationship between temperature and egg development of Nannophya pygmaea, an endangerd dragonfly species in Korea, using eight different temperature conditions (17, 20, 22, 25, 28, 30, 33, and $36^{\circ}C$). Eggs of N. pygmaea were collected from female adults inhabited a small wetland in Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, in June 2007. As a result, hatching rates were 2.86, 17.09, 24.32, 39.67, 34.43, 40.57, 44.79, and 1.75% at 17, 20, 22, 25, 28, 30, 33, and $36^{\circ}C$, respectively. The nonlinear model of the temperature related to egg development was well fit to the modified Sharpe and DeMichele model. The derived lower developmental threshold temperature for egg hatching was $14.02^{\circ}C$(y=0.005988x-0.084, $r^2$=0.99), and the derived optimal development temperature was $30{\sim}35^{\circ}C$.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of heating hatching eggs on the number of day-old chicks, egg temperature and egg weight during extended storage, and to provide basic information for improving hatchability to livestock producers. Eggs (Hy-line) were subjected to the following treatments: "control": eggs were maintained in an incubator after storage for 8 days; "T1": eggs were preheated for 8 hours at $23.9^{\circ}C$ after storage for 8 days in a hatchery; "T2": eggs were initially heated for 8 hours at $37.8^{\circ}C$ in an incubator and then preheated for 8 hours at $23.9^{\circ}C$ in a hatchery after storage for 8 days. The results were as follows: First, at the end of the experiment, the total number of day-old chicks was higher in T1, followed by T2 and then the control. This indicated that chick hatchability may be improved when eggs are preheated. Second, compared with the control, the number of day-old female chicks was expected to be higher in treatments with pre-heating; however, the results indicated the opposite effect. Third, as storage time lengthened, the factor that influenced preheating (the main effect and interactions) was not egg weight but egg temperature measured in the upper, middle and bottom parts of incubator. The temperatures recorded in all treatments ranged from 37.97 to $38.40^{\circ}C$ in the upper parts of incubator, 37.80 to $38.26^{\circ}C$ in the middle parts of incubator, and 37.94 to $38.59^{\circ}C$ in the bottom parts of incubator over storage. In conclusion, preheating was very effective in improving hatchability, and egg temperature was the main factor affecting preheating and hatchability.

In the present study, we investigated the effects of temperature and photoperiod on oviposition of Protaetia brevitarsis. The effects of long- and short-day cycles on oviposition and egg hatching of P. brevitarsis were investigated at different temperatures. Three male-female pairs were confined to oviposition chambers maintained at $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, and $35^{\circ}C$, with 16L:8D and 8L:16D photoperiod. Oviposition was observed at all temperatures. The total number of eggs laid per female was between 46.8 and 110.8, and the optimal temperature for oviposition and fertility was between $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, it was difficult for the eggs to hatch at $35^{\circ}C$. Fewer eggs were laid under short photoperiod than under long photoperiod at all temperatures. Hatching success was 93.5% at $20^{\circ}C$, 90.9% at $25^{\circ}C$, 71.5% at $30^{\circ}C$ and 37.3% at $35^{\circ}C$ under long-day(16L:8D) condition and Temperature had a strong effect on the time to hatching. Neither oviposition nor subsequent egg hatching was influenced by photoperiod and temperature. The information obtained will be useful for mass rearing P. brevitarsis.
The purpose of this study is to observe the early life history of Korean Lefua costata and use the result as basic taxonomic research data for balitorid fish. The fertilized eggs were light green color with completely circle shape and mean size was 1.21±0.06 mm (n=30). Immediately after hatching, the size of the larvae was 2.81±0.11 mm (n=5) in mean length, with egg yolk. On the 3rd day after hatching, the preflexion larvae had a mean length of 4.64±0.09 mm (n=5), and their mouth was opened to start feeding. On the 8th day after hatching, a mean length of the postflexion larvae was 9.43±0.46 mm (n=5), the distal part of the notochord was bent to 45°, and 16 fin rays were developed on the caudal fin. On the 31st day after hatching, a mean length of juveniles was 22.3±0.85 mm (n=5), and the number of fin rays was the same as that of adult fish with (iv8) dorsal fins and (iii8) anal fins.
This paper deals with the reproductive ecology e.g., number of the pre-spawning moults, morphological characteristics of the pre-spawning moult the common moult, daily ration druing a molting cycle mating behavior, structures of spermatozoa and spermatophore, structure of vas deferens, mechanisms of the oviposition and brooding into the egg-chambers, a suitable time for the artificial mating and fertilization, time sequence of the oviposition and brooding into egg-chambers from the copulation, responses to temperature and chlorinity on the egg development and hatching, effect of temperatures on duration of egg development, physical mechanism of the egg hatching, to make an attempt for the artificial spawning and brooding to establish a suitable system of the artificial seedling-production for the aquaculture. 1. Females molted commonly $8{\~}10$ times at an interval of $17{\~}18$ days at $28^{\circ}C,\;3.26\~4.35\%_{\circ}$ while the prespawning moltings were $4{\~}5$ times at an interval of $13{\~}14$ days. The suitable state for artificial copulation was within 14 hours elapsed from the prespawning moltings (most suitable state was within 8 hours). Males discharged a gelatinous spermatophore and placed it on the females sternum during copulation. Oviposition was seen $6{\~}17$ hours after copulation. External fertilization was considered to take place at oviposition. Fertilized eggs held in egg-chambers forming between pleopods were about $5000{\~}6000$ in females those sizes about 6.5 cm in body length. 2. Eggs immediately after oviposition were elliptic shape, measuring $0.58{\times}0.48$ mm up to hatching. Their sizes increased with egg development and finally reached $0.85{\times}0.54$ mm up to hatching. The relationship between the long axis of the egg(Y in U) and days elapsed(X) was expressed as Y= 5.60194 + 0.007358X. The eggs performed superficial cleavage and their cleavage furrows became visible at the 4-daughter-nucleus stage. The eggs showed normal development up to hatching at water temperature range of $22{\~}30^{\circ}C$ (optimum temperature : $26{\~}28^{\circ}C$) and at chlorinity range of $0.00\~6.64\%_{\circ}$ (optimun chlorinity : $2.21{\%}_{\circ}$). The relationship between incubation period (Y in days) and water temperature(X in $^{\circ}C$) could be expressed as Y= 50.803-1.3555X. The eggs hatched $12{\~}13$ days after oviposition at $28.0{\~}28.6^{\circ}C$ 3. The pre-spawning moltings were appreciably different in the morphologic structure from those of common moltings. Breeding setae and dresses were formed on the thoracic regions, abdominal epimerae and the bases of the first to fourth pleopods in order to prepare and support oviposition, transfering and supporting eggs in egg-chambers up to hatching. These supplementary breeding organs were observed only at reproductive seasons.
We investigated egg collection and the effects of water temperature (4, 7, 10, 13 and $16^{\circ}C$) on egg development, hatching and larval growth of Pacific cod Gadus macrocephalus under laboratory conditions. Fertilized eggs were round in shape ($1.01{\pm}0.03\;cm$) and adhesive to nylon nets. Fertilization rate was 68% by wet method. The time of egg development was negatively proportional to water temperature with the range of $4^{\circ}C$ to $13^{\circ}C$. Eggs hatched only at $7^{\circ}C$ after 288 hours of fertilization and $10^{\circ}C$ after 192 hours. Hatching rate was highest as 65% at $7^{\circ}C$ followed by $34.4^{\circ}C$ at $10^{\circ}C$. Survival rate was 18.3% at $7^{\circ}C$ and 5.2% at $10^{\circ}C$.
