한국재래계의 난형지수 및 난질에 대한 유전력 및 유전상관의 추정 (Estimation of the Heritabilities and Genetic Correlations on Egg Shape Index and Internal Egg Qualities in Korean Native Chicken)

  • This study was carried out to estirnate the heritabilities and genetic correlations on egg shape index and internal egg qualities ; shell thickness, alburnin heights and Haugh units for breeding plan and selection in Korean native chicken. Data analyzed were the records of 46,908 eggs from 43() layers from April, 1994 to September, 1995. The egg shape index at the first egg, 300 days and 500 days of ages were 74.771, 74.468 and 73.702; the shell thickness were 0.345, 0.344 and 0. 334mm; the alburnen heights were 6.579, 6.130 and 5.318mm; the Haugh units were 86.859, 81.014 and 73.565 respectively. The heritability estimates of egg shape index and internal egg qualities based on the variance of sire, dam and combined components at 300 days of age were 0.136, 0.954 and 0.545 for egg shape index; 0.201, 0.622 and 0.421 for shell thickness; 0.410, 0.961 and 0.633 for albumen height ; 0.353, 0.962 and': 0.608 for Haugh units. The genetic correlation coefficient between shell thickness and albumen height was -0.044~0.824; 0.016~0.949 between Haugh units and shell thickness 0.313~0.941 between albumen height and Haugh units, respectively.

Effects of Dietary Turmeric Powder on Laying Performance and Egg Qualities in Laying Hens

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the dietary effects of turmeric powder (TP) on laying performances, egg qualities and its transfer into eggs. A total of two hundred, 60-wk-old, Lohmann Brown layers were divided into 4 groups, placed in to 5 replicates per group (10 layers each) and fed each one of four diets containing 0% TP (control), 0.10, 0.25 or 0.50% TP, respectively, for 7 wks. Egg production in the all groups fed diets containing TP were significantly higher than that in control (P<0.05). No differences in feed intakes, egg and eggshell qualities were observed among the treatments, but Roche color fan number (yolk color) in group fed diet with 0.5% TP was significantly higher than in control (P<0.05). In the groups fed diets containing TP, Haugh units after 2 wk of storage were significantly higher than that of control (P<0.05). The curcumin content of egg yolk in the groups fed diet containing 0.50% TP was significantly higher than those in the other groups (P<0.05). The cholesterol levels of egg yolk were not influenced by dietary TP. It was concluded that dietary TP was effective in improving laying performance and internal egg qualities. TP can be also used as a feed additive for the production of value-enhanced eggs with increased yolk color and curcumin content.

Evaluation of Dietary Multiple Enzyme Preparation (Natuzyme) in Laying Hens

  • The current experiment was designed to evaluate the efficacy of adding the multi-enzyme mixture (Natuzyme) into layers' diets with different levels of energy and available phosphorus in relation to laying performance, egg qualities, blood cholesterol level, microflora and intestinal viscosity. Two hundred and fifty 43-wk-old Hy-Line commercial layers were divided into five groups with five replicates per group (10 birds per replicate) and fed one of five experimental diets. A corn and soybean meal-based control diet was formulated and used as a control diet. Two experimental control diets were formulated to reduce energy and crude protein contents (rE) or energy, crude protein and phosphorus contents (rEP). In addition, Natuzyme was added into either rE (rE-Natu500) or rEP (rEP-Natu500) diet to reach a concentration of 500 mg per kg of diet. The experiment lasted 8 weeks. There were no significant differences in feed intake, egg production, egg weight, egg qualities such as eggshell color or Haugh unit, total cholesterol, relative organ weights and cecal microflora profiles between any dietary treatments. Natu500 supplementation into the rE diet, but not rEP diet significantly increased egg mass and eggshell qualities such as strength and thickness, but it decreased cecal ammonia concentration and intestinal viscosity in laying hens. In conclusion, the present study shows that adding multiple enzyme preparation could improve performance of laying hens fed energy and protein restricted diets.

Effect of Fermented Soybean "Natto" Supplement on Egg Production and Qualities

  • Natto is a Japanese traditional soybean product fermented by Bacillus natto. The effects of dried fermented soybean (natto) supplement on egg production and egg qualities of layer chickens was studied with regard to the effective use of various waste foods in Japan. Dried natto, prepared by heating at $60^{\circ}C$, was added to a basic diet at a level of up to 3%. Forty 166-wk-old layer chickens (Rhode Island Red) were randomly divided into 4 groups and five layer chickens were used in each group with two replicates. Layer chickens in group 1 were fed a basic diet as the control. The remaining 3 groups were fed the basic diet supplemented with dried natto at levels of 1, 2, and 3% (w/w), respectively. The result did not show improvements in egg production or feed conversion ratio of layer chickens even when 3% dried natto was added to the control diet. The egg qualities including egg weight, eggshell strength and thickness, yolk color, yolk weight, albumen height, and Haugh unit were also not improved. However, the feeding of dried natto changed the cholesterol content in the egg yolk. The supplementation of dried natto showed the tendency to decrease the yolk cholesterol after 12-wk of feeding compared to the control diet though it did not change plasma cholesterol levels in the blood. On the other hand, yolk cholesterol decreased significantly after 12-wk of feeding 3% dried natto (p<0.05).

산란계 사료 내 강황분말(Turmeric powder)의 첨가 급여가 계란 생산성과 품질에 미치는 영향

The content of egg yolk cholesterol was not influenced by dietary TP.

The effect of different colored light emitting diode illumination on egg laying performance, egg qualities, blood hormone levels and behavior patterns in Brown Tsaiya duck

  • Objective: The objective of this experiment was to investigate the effects of different colors produced by light emitting diode (LED) on Brown Tsaiya ducks. Methods: A total of 144 female Brown Tsaiya ducks were randomly allocated into three individual cage rearing chambers with different LED illumination colors as treatments. Three different treatments were: i) white color, ii) blue color, and iii) red color. The experiment periods were from ducks 21 to 49 weeks of age, determined traits included i) egg laying performance, ii) feed intake, iii) egg shell breaking strength, iv) egg shell thickness, v) egg Haugh unit, vi) egg weight, vii) serum Estradiol and Progesterone concentration, and viii) behavior pattern. Results: The results indicated that when compared with white and blue color, red color could stimulate ducks sexual maturation and raised the egg laying performance. The red light group was also observed to have the highest feed intake among three treatments. The blue treatment had the lowest egg shell breaking strength and the highest egg weight among three treatments, nevertheless, no significant difference was observed among three treatments on egg shell thickness and egg Haugh unit. The red light group had higher serum estradiol concentration than the white and blue groups, but no significant difference among treatments on the serum Progesterone concentration was found. The results of behavior pattern indicated that red light group showed more feeding and less resting behavior compared to the blue light group. Conclusion: We found a potential of applying red light illumination in the indoor laying duck raising system with positive results on egg laying performance and acceptable egg weight, equivalent egg qualities compared to white and blue light.

머루(Vitis coignetiae)의 급여가 계란의 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of dietary supplementation of wild grape (Vitis coignetiae) on the quality of egg)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of wild grape (Vitis coignetiae) on egg qualities. Laying hens were randomly assigned to three different dietary groups containing 0, 0.25, and 0.5% of wild grape and fed for 8 weeks, respectively. Eggs were collected after feeding period and stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. Egg quality traits and cholesterol level of egg yolk were measured at 0 and 7 days of storage. There were no significant differences in total cholesterol content of egg yolk and egg shell thickness among the treatments. However, egg weights of wild grape-fed groups significantly increased compared to that of control. Dietary supplementation of 0.25% wild grape increased the shell and yolk colors compared to the control. Dietary supplementation of 0.5% wild grape significantly increased albumen height and Haugh unit and decreased egg shell hardness and pH values at day 0. However, no differences were found after 7 days of storage. Consequently, the dietary supplementation of wild grape improved the egg qualities on some extent including egg weights, shell and yolk color, albumen height, and Haugh unit.

산란계에 대한 오전용 사료와 오후용 사료의 별도 급여가 난각질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Feeding Split Diets for a.m. and p.m. on Egg Shell Quality)

  • 산란계에 대한 오전사료와 오후사료의 별도 급여가 계란의 난각질에 미치는 영향을 조사하고, 난각질 조사항목 상호간의 관계를 조사하기 위해 ISA Brown 갈색산란계 480수를 공시하여 32~36주령과 52~56주령 및 72~76주령에 각각 4주간 사양시험을 실시하였다. 각 산란기별로 처리당 60개씩 모두 1,080개의 계란을 수집하여 난각질을 조사하고 난각질 조사항목 상호간의 관계를 연구한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 계란의 비중, 난각 강도, 난각 후도 및 난각 비율등은 모두 오전사료 와 오후사료를 별도급여한 시험구들(T$_1$-T$_{5}$)이 대조구(C)에 비해 향상되었으며(P<0.05), 오후사료의 Ca 수준이 증가할수록 향상되는 경향이었다(P<0.05). 2. 난각질 조사항목간의 상관계수(r)는 0.79~0.90 으로 모두 고도의 유의적인 상관관계가 있었다(P<0.01). 3. 난각질 조사방법간의 관계를 조사하기 위해 단순회귀방정식과 다중회귀방정식을 구하였다.

  • 본(本) 연구는 한국재래오골계(韓國在來鳥骨鷄)의 난구성분(卵構成分) 및 난질(卵質)에 대한 유전력(遺傳力) 및 유전상관(遺傳相關)을 추정(推定)하여 닭의 효율적(效率的)인 개량을 위한 육종목표(育種目標)의 설정(設定)과 선발(選拔)을 수행하는데 필요한 기초자료을 얻고자 충남대학교(忠南大學校) 농과대학(農科大學) 부속동물사육장(附屬動物飼育場)에서 1987연 6월 18일부터 1989년 4월 6일까지 500일 동안 부가계(父家系) 20수와 모가계(母家系) 150수에서 생산된 450수의 자손으로부터 생산된 계란(鷄卵) 38,320개의 난구성분(卵構成分)을 조사하여 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 난구성분(卵構成分)의 유전력추정치(遺傳力推定値)는 부분산성분(父分散成分), 모분산성분(母分散成分) 및 부모분산성분(父母分散成分)에서 난백중(卵白重)은 각각 0.620 - 0.723, 0.206 - 0.300 및 0.413 - 0.511이었고, 난황중(卵黃重)은 각각 0.439, - 0.737. 0.484 - 0.544 및 0.492 - 0.615이었으며, 난각중(卵殼重)은 각각 0.172 - 0.387, 0.412 - 0.642 및 0.309 - 0.503이었다. 2. 난질(卵質)의 유전력추정치(遺傳力推定値)는 부분산성분(父分散成分), 모분산성분(母分散成分) 및 부모분산성분(父母分散成分)에서 난각(卵殼) 두께는 각각 0.197 - 0.279, 0.557 - 0.819 및 0.428 - 0.508이었고, 난백고(卵白高)는 각각 0.202 - 0.394, 0.119 - 0.678 및 0.256 - 0.440이었으며, Haught units는 각각 0.108 - 0.443, 0.237 - 0.698 및 0.244 - 0.399이었다. 3. 난구성분간(卵構成分間)의 유전상관(遺傳相關) 및 표현형상관(表現型相關)은 난백중(卵白重)과 난황중간(卵黃重間)에 각각 0.089 - 0.564, 0.084 - 0.235이었고, 난백중(卵白重)과 난각중간(卵殼重間)에는 각각 0.396 - 0.925, 0.225 - 0.544이었으며, 난황중(卵黃重)과 난각중간(卵殼重間)에는 각각 0.220 - 0.375 및 0.098 - 0.358이었다. 4. 난질간(卵質間)의 유전상관(遺傳相關) 및 표현형상관(表現型相關)은 난각(卵殼)두께와 난백고간(卵白高間)에 - 0.082 - 0.346, - 0.163 - 0.060이었고, 난각(卵殼)두께와 Haught units간(間)에는 각각 - 0.076 - 0.167 및 - 0.185 - 0.010이었으며 난백고(卵白高)와 Haught units간(間)에는 각각 0.338 - 0.604 및 0.154 - 0.285 이었다. 5. 난구성분(卵構成分)과 난질간(卵質間)의 유전상관(遺傳相關)에서 난백중(卵白重)과 난각(卵殼)두께, 난백고(卵白高), Haught units간(間)에는 각각 - 0.380 - - 0.002, 0.239 - 0.381 및 - 0.279 - 0.127이었고, 난황중(卵黃重)과 난각(卵殼)두께, 난백고(卵白高) 및 Haught units간(間)에는 각각 - 0.294 - 0.133, - 0.049 - 0.133 및 - 0.196 - - 0.136이었으며, 난각중(卵殼重)과 난각(卵殼)두께, 난백고(卵白高), Haught units간(間)에는 각각 0.127 - 0.476, 0.140 - 0.273 및 0.038 - 0.223 이었다.

목탁액의 첨가.급여가 산란계의 생산성에 미치는 영향

  • The Effects of Dietary Supplemental Charcoal Extract (CE) were examined on performance of 19-week-old ISA Brown hens for 12weeks. Four hundred and fifty were randolmy assigned to 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1% dietary CE, respectively with five replicates of 18 hens per pen. Basal diets contained 17.5% CP and 2,800 ME. Egg production egg weight, feed conversion(FC), and egg qualities were measured in every four weeks. Egg production and FC was slightly improved in 0.05% supplemental CE group compared to that of other treatments, but was not signhificant different. Average egg weight was significantly higher in 0.025% and 0.1% than other treatments(P<0.05). Total egg mass tended to be higher in 0.05% supplementation. Daily feed intake increased in 0.1% supplementation than the others, but was not statistically different. Eggshell breaking strength and Haugh unit were tended to be higher in 0.05% supplementation. There were no significant difference in eggshell thickness and yolk color of all treatments.
