차세대 이동통신 시스템의 효율적인 전력 소모에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Efficient Power Consumption of Next Generation Mobile Communication Systems)

  • 최근 차세대 이동통신 시스템은 스마트폰을 시작으로 다양한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 서비스를 지원하고 있다. 따라서, 음성통화를 목적으로 한 시스템 사용에 비해 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 시스템 사용이 점차 증가하고 있다. 멀티미디어 서비스의 증가는 사용자의 시스템 사용시간을 증가시키고, 시스템의 정해진 전력에 비해 사용 시간을 단축시킴으로 효율적인 전력사용에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 또한 도시 집중화 환경에 의한 음영지역의 출현으로 인한 불필요한 전력소모가 발생되고 있으며, 이러한 문제는 차세대 이동통신 시스템의 사용 시간 단축에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 이동통신 시스템의 통신망 구조를 살펴보고, 음영지역에서의 불필요한 전력사용을 살펴본 후, 효율적인 전력사용을 위한 방법을 제안하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 차세대 이동통신 시스템의 효율적인 전력사용에 대해 분석했다.

양구해안분지에서 기존 농업용수 이용량 산정식에 따른 양수량과 실측 양수량 비교 (A Comparison of Estimated Groundwater Consumption Using Existing Formulae with Actual Pumped Volumes in the Haean Basin, Korea)

  • Efficient groundwater management requires accurate information about the water volume used. The pumped volume of groundwater can be indirectly estimated using empirical formulae based on electric power consumption. The purpose of this study is to test the accuracy of this indirect method. The Haean basin in Gangwon is located in a rural area, where majority of the groundwater extracted is used for irrigation. The pumped volume of groundwater indirectly estimated from electricity usage using these empirical formulae was compared with the actual pumped volume determined by conducting experiments on April 29 and May 19, 2017. The field survey collected data on electricity usage, pumped volume, and groundwater levels. Based on this measured data, correlations were calculated between electricity usage and pumping volume, as well as groundwater level and pumping rate. The results show that electricity usage and pumped volume measured for both wells (YHE1 and YHE2) are highly correlated (r=0.99, p<0.001). However, for YHE1, notably, the correlation between the groundwater level and pumping rate was not significant, and only some correlations were identified for these variables for the YHE2 test well. The average error with respect to the estimation of the actual pumped volume from the existing formula (1) and formulae (2) and (3) are +399% and -88%, respectively. To reduce these errors, these formulae need to consider other factors affecting the pumped volume.

PDFindexer: Distributed PDF Indexing system using MapReduce

  • Indexing allows converting raw document collection into easily searchable representation. Web searching by Google or Yahoo provides subsecond response time which is made possible by efficient indexing of web-pages over the entire Web. Indexing process gets challenging when the scale gets bigger. Parallel techniques, such as MapReduce framework can assist in efficient large-scale indexing process. In this paper we propose PDFindexer, system for indexing scientific papers in PDF using MapReduce programming model. Unlike Web search engines, our target domain is scientific papers, which has pre-defined structure, such as title, abstract, sections, references. Our proposed system enables parsing scientific papers in PDF recreating their structure and performing efficient distributed indexing with MapReduce framework in a cluster of nodes. We provide the overview of the system, their components and interactions among them. We discuss some issues related with the design of the system and usage of MapReduce in parsing and indexing of large document collection.

  • 본 논문은 미국내의 다른 터미널 운용구조를 고찰하고, 크레인 사용을 위해서 가장 효과적인 터미널 관리장치유형(ACC, CUP, PTU)을 찾조자 시도하여 연구한 결과이다. 터미널 비교에 사용된 효율을 산정하기 위해서 시간당 순총 크레인 움직임을 사용했다. 가장 효과적인 장치를 찾기 위해서 총 31개 터미널을 비교하여 시도했다. 이 이론에서는 PTU 시설이 가장 효과적인운영장치임을 알게 되었으며, 보기로 든 터널이 너무 적어서 미국내 터미널에 이 결과를 직접적으로 적용하기에는 어려움이 있다.

Inkjet Printable Transparent Conducting Oxide Electrodes

  • We have demonstrated ink-jet printed indium tin oxide (ITO) and indium tin zinc oxide (IZTO) electrodes for cost-efficient organic solar cells (OSCs). By ink-jetting of crystalline ITO nano-particles and performing a rapid thermal anneal at $450^{\circ}C$, we were able to obtain directly patterned-ITO electrodes with an average transmittance of 84.14% and a sheet resistance of 202.7 Ohm/square without using a conventional photolithography process. The OSCs fabricated on the directly patterned ITO electrodes by ink-jet printing showed an open circuit voltage of 0.57 V, short circuit current of 8.47 mA/cm2, fill factor of 44%, and power conversion efficiency of 2.13%. This indicates that the ITO directly-patterned by ink-jet printing is a viable alternative to sputter-grown ITO electrodes for cost-efficient printing of OSCs due to the absence of a photolithography process for patterning and more efficient ITO material usage.

The Software Architecture of A Secure and Efficient Group Key Agreement Protocol

  • Group communications are becoming popular in Internet applications such as video conferences, on-line chatting programs, games, and gambling. Secure and efficient group communication is needed for message integration, confidentiality, and system usability. However, the conventional group key agreement protocols are too much focused on minimizing the computational overhead by concentrating on generating the common group key efficiently for secure communication. As a result, the common group key is generated efficiently but a failure in authentication allows adversaries to obtain valuable information during the group communication. After achieving the secure group communication, the secure group communication should generate the group key efficiently and distribute it to group members securely, so the balance of security and system usage must be considered at the same time. Therefore, this research proposes the software architecture model of a secure and efficient group communication that will be imbedded into networking applications.

  • This paper investigates an efficient pre-equalization technique that can be applied on the up-link of a time division duplex (TDD) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. This technique provides the spectral efficiency by omitting the usage of training sequences on the up-link. In this paper, the performance of a variety of pre-equalization techniques is analyzed and simulations are performed by applying power efficient pre-equalization algorithms with phase and amplitude & phase pre-equalization in the Rayleigh fading channel.

Classification of Alkali Activated GGBS Mortar According to the Most Suitable Usage at the Construction Site

  • The usage of OPC-free alkali activated ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) mortar has been widely studied on the previous years, due to its advantages on sustainability, durability and workability. This paper brings a new view, aiming to classify the best application in situ for each mortar, according to the type and activator content. By this practical implication, more efficiency is achieved on the construction site and consequently less waste of materials. In order to compare the different activators, the following experiments were performed: analysis of compressive strength at 28 days, setting time measured by needles penetration resistance, analysis of total pore volume performed by MIP and permeability assessment by RCPT test. In general, activated GGBS had acceptable performance in all cases compared to OPC, and remarkable improved durability. Following the experimental results, it was confirmed that each activator and different concentrations impose distinct outcome performance to the mortar which allows the classification. It was observed that the activator Ca(OH)2 is the most versatile among the others, even though it has limited compressive strength, being suitable for laying mortar, coating/plaster, adhesive and grouting mortar. Samples activated with NaOH, in turn, presented in general the most similar results compared to OPC.

  • 스마트 그리드 안에서 고안된 스마트 미터는 우리가 사용하는 전력 신호를 실시간으로 데이터화해서 전력 공급단의 메인 서버로 전송한다. 이를 통해 전력 관리의 효율성은 증가한 반면, 사용자의 정보를 담은 데이터의 보안 문제가 새로운 위협으로 부상하였다. 본 논문은 스마트 미터에서 추출한 전력 데이터를 통해 가정 내 기기의 식별 및 기기별 사용패턴에 대한 추론을 보안 관점에서 해석함으로써 스마트 기기 환경에서 데이터 노출의 위협을 지적한다. 주성분분석(Principal Component Analysis)으로 데이터의 특징을 추출하였고 k-근접 이웃(k- Nearest Neighbor)분류기로 기기를 식별하고 기기상태를 추론하였으며, 검증방법으로는 10차 교차검증(10-fold Cross Validation)을 활용하였다.

Exploring Effects of Water Price on Residential Water Demand for Water Management

  • Purpose: Management of water is a crucial issue globally and is becoming more critical due to climate change. The purpose of this study is to explore water resource management by considering price and water usage based on river basins and to suggest more efficient residential water demand management in South Korea. Research Design, data, and methodology: This study applied data of water usage and water price of 15 regions in four major river basins by considering up and downstream locations from 1997 to 2017 collected by Ministry of Environment in Korea. This study applied regression analyses, ANOVA, and 2-Way ANOVA to verify its claims. Results: The results found that effects of price on water usage showed significant in many cities. The results also showed that means of water usages differ based on location (upstream and downstream) and river basins. Conclusion: The findings provide important policy and management implications for the improvement of water resource management in terms of demand. The results also indicate that water price should be reconsidered by comparing water price levels with those of OECD countries. Furthermore, the results imply that water management in Korea needs to improve in terms of supply to cope with climate change.
