  • This paper presents the results of experiments which compare the software complexity between programming languages, i.e, FORTRAN IV and FORTRAN 77, PASCAL and C language, respectively. Each experiment is performed to compare the complexity between programs of same problems using Halstead's method based on operator, and McCabe's based on data flow. As the results of 25 test programs experiments, FORTRAN 77 languages shows superiority to FORTRAN IV languages, and C than that of PASCAL languages, in the aspect of the global software complexity.

  • Graphite and MoS2 were added respectively as a lubricant to improve the cutting efficiency of micro blades which contains diamond abrasive. Strength, fracture toughness, and life span of micro-blades were observed to decrease with the increase in diamond abrasive and lubricant content. Wearing mode of micro-blades and the cutting efficiency were also found to be affected by the content of diamond abrasive and the addition of lubricants.

  • In order to study the effects of Typha angustata on hyperlipidemia, we divided the rats into three groups(normal group, control group & sample group) and perfomed the experimental research. Hyperlipidemia rats were induced by Triton WR-1339 for 3days. The sample group was administerd the extract of Typha angustata 2ml/200g for 3 days and control group was administerd equal dose of saline. And then we measured the amount of serum Total cholesterol, Triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and Phospholipid. The results were as follows: 1. Typha angustata showed decreasing effects on Total cholesterol, Triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, and Phospholipid levels in serum significantly(p<0.01) 2. Typha angustata showed and showed increasing effects on HDL-cholesterol level in serum significantly(p<0.05). According to the above results, Typha angustata showed significant decreasing effects on hyperlipidemia, and it is considered that it is appropriate to apply for hyperlipidemia.

  • Preparation of conducting Polymer composites by Polymerizing Polypyrrole in thermoplastic polymer matrices has been studied by many researchers in order to enhance the stability and the Physical Properties of polypyrrole. In the previous study4 we examined the effects of the ionic group content and the copolyester molecular structures on the electrical conductivity of conductivity of polypyrrole(PPy)/copolyester composite films. • [Purpose] In the present pilot study, we aimed to investigate the effects of the Silverrobics exercise program, which is similar to aerobic dance, on the factors related to glucose metabolism and liver enzymes. [Methods] Eight elderly women with obesity and impaired fasting glucose participated in the Silverrobics exercise program (60 minutes per session for five times a week for 8 weeks). The program was conducted at 50-60% of the heart rate reserve at 1 to 2 weeks and at 60-80% of the heart rate reserve at 3 to 8 weeks. To verify the effect of this 8-week exercise program on glucose metabolism and liver enzymes, blood analysis at pre- and post-training was performed. [Results] After the Silverrobics exercise program, there were significant decreases in the glucose (p<0.05), glycated hemoglobin A1c (p<0.05), 1,5-anhydroglucitol (p<0.05), and insulin levels (p<0.01) and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance score (p<0.05). However, there were no significant effects on the liver enzymes, except for alkaline phosphatase. The alkaline phosphatase level increased after the Silverrobics exercise program (p<0.05). [Conclusion] Although the Silverrobics exercise program had no beneficial effects on the liver enzymes, it may play an important role in preventing liver diseases considering the effects on glucose metabolism.

  • Endocrine disruptors have been implicated in carcinogenesis in animal studies, but carcinogenetic effects on human remain controversial. In order to examine the genotoxicity of two common endocrine disruptors, Bisphenol A and Diethylstilbestrol, cytogenetic endpoints including chromosome aberration(CA), sister chromatid exchange (SCE), micronuclei (MN) analyses and DNA damage by single cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE) were assayed.(omitted)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the natural frequencies and mode shapes of tapered beams with general boundary condition(translational and rotational elastic support) at one end and carrying a tip mass of rotatory inertia at the other end. The beam model is based on the classical Bernoulli-Euler beam theory which neglects the effects of rotatory inertia and shear deformation. (omitted)
