The effects of sour liquid ferments with lactic acid bacteria on the baking properties and qualities of White Pan Bread were studied. The mixed culture of Lactobacillus brevis and Lactobacillus plantarum had higher acid equivalents and lower pH-values than single or mixed culture of other lactic acid bacteria which had been used for traditional sour dough bread. Optimum conditions of the incubation of lactic acid bacteria, which are incubation temperature time and culture medium compositions for lactic fermentation, were also investigated to find out optimum activity for good bread making. The mixed culture of L. brevis and l. plantarum incubated for 24 hours at 3$0^{\circ}C$ had the most optimum activity for bread manufacturing process and the qualities of the products. The addition of sour liquid ferments to the sponge dough effected on fermentation activity of the sponge dough to lower the level of pH to 4.64 and to produce more total titratable acidity(TTA) of 0.545, whereas conventional sponge dough bread had 0.46% of TTA. On comparison with control bread, the bread made with sour liquid ferments was found to have better specific volume, taste, symmetry, especially, organoleptic characteristics due to lactic acid, acetic acid and amino acid produced by lactic acid bacteria. Sour dough bread with liquid ferment was considered to be more effective to the inhibition of staling during storage for 6 days at $25^{\circ}C$ and to have longer shelf-than control.

Conventional marine radar systems utilize pulse radar which is capable of high-power transmissions and is effective for remote detection purposes. A pulse radar is most commonly used on medium or large vessels due to its expensive installation and maintenance costs. I propose the use of a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system operated at low-power and high-resolution instead of the conventional pulse-radar based system. The transmitted and received signals of the FMCW radar system were theoretically analyzed and radar signal processing design and simulation experiments were performed to detect the range and speed. Intermediate Frequency (IF) signal mixed with virtual transmit and receive signals were generated to perform FMCW radar signal processing simulations where the IF signal underwent noise reduction through a lowpass filter. The maximum frequency was derived through the sample interval of the FFT size instead of using A/D converter. This maximum frequency was used to get the frequency range and frequency speed which were in turn used to calculate the range and speed. The virtual beat frequency generated using MATLAB is utilized to analyze the beat frequency used in the actual FMCW radar system signal processing. The differences in the range and speed of the beat frequency signals are processed and analyzed.
The objective of this study was to establish an effective cryopreservation method of in vitro-produced bovine embryos. For the vitrification, in virtro-produced embryos at 8-cell, morula and blastocyst stages were exposed to freezing solution containing 5.5 M EG (EG 5.5) for 20 sec, loaded on each containers such as EM grid, OPS and Cryo-loop, and then immediately plunged into liquid nitrogen at -196$^{\circ}C$. Thawed embryos were serially diluted in 0.5, 0.25 and 0.125 M sucrose in m-HPBS, each for 1 min, and cultured in CRlaa medium supplemented with 10% FBS. Significant differences in the rates of re-expanded and hatched embryos were not observed among these embryo containers. The total cell number of expanded blastocyst cultured in vitro after vitrification was examined by Hoechst staining. There were no differences between non-vitrified (180.0 $\pm$ 5.4) and vitrified groups (178.0 $\pm$ 7.5). In addition, when the cellular injuries after vitrification were compared by double staining. There were no significant difference in the ratio of live and dead cells between non-vitrified group (176 : 4) and vitrified group (172 : 6). Therefore, these results suggest that bovine embryos can be cryopreserved easily, effectively and successfully by vitrification using various containers, such as EM grid, OPS or Cryo-loop in the presence of EG 5.5 freezing solution.
Contrast-enhanced CT has an important role in assessing liver lesions, the optimal protocol to get most effective result is not clear. The mein goal when deciding injention protocol is to optimize lesion detectability with rapid scanning when lesion to liver contrast is maximum. For this purpose, we developed a physiological model of the contrast medium enhancement based on the compartment modeling and pharmacokinetics. Blood supply to liver is achieved in two paths. This dual supply characteristic distinguishes the CT enhancement of liver from that of the other organs. The first path is by hepatic artery and to second, by portal vein. However, it is assumed that only gepatic artery can supply blood to hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) compartment, thus, the difference of contrast enhancement is resulted between normal liver tissue and hepatic tumor. By solving differential equations for each compartment simultaneously using the computer program Matlab, CT contrast-enhancement curves were simulated. The simulated enhancement curves for aortic, hepatic, portal vein, and HCC compartments were compared with the mean enhancement curves from 24 patients exposed to the same protocols as the simulation. These enhancement curves showed a good agreement. Furthermore, we simulated lesion-to-liver curves for various injection protocols, and the effects were analyzed. The variables to be considered in the injection protocol were injection rate, dose, and concentration of contrast material. These data may help to optimize scanning protocols for better diagnosis.
The marine microalga Pavlova viridis can grow fast and has the ability to accumulate essential nutrients for culturing marine animals, such as EPA and DHA, and it has been used as food for raring larval fish and prawn. The symbiotic relationship between the flagellate microalga Pavlova viridis and its associated bacteria was investigated. An axenic culture of P. viridis was obtained by repeated treatment of the microalga with an antibiotic cocktail. The axenic status was confirmed after sub-culturing three times in a sterile f/2 medium without an antibiotic. The axenic alga was then co-inoculated with five bacteria, arbitrarily designated as I1–I5, isolated from the alga to test the growth promotion of the algae. All bacterial strains promoted the growth of P. viridis, and bacterial isolate I3 was the most effective among the five bacteria tested. The cell number of P. viridis in the co-culture with I3 was significantly higher than that of the control culture. A sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene isolated from I3 revealed a 97% nucleotide sequence similarity to that of Citrobacter sp. The growth of strain I3 was also significantly enhanced by co-culturing with P. viridis, indicating a symbiotic relationship between the microalga and its associated bacterium. The association between the microalga and bacterium was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy.

Some factors affecting the protoplast release from mycelia of Ganoderma lucidum and regeneration of the protoplast were investigated and the results obtained are summarized as follows; Novozym 234 as a lytic enzyme was the most effective for the protoplast release from mycelia of Ganoderma lucidu m and its optimal concentration was 10mg per ml of osmotic stabilizer. The highest number of protoplasts were released after 3 hours incubation in the reciprocal shaking bath at 120 oscillations a minute. Among six osmotic stabilizers tested, 0.6M sucrose showed the best result. SCM medium showed good mycelial growth and high yields of protoplasts. The protoplasts released from the mycelium of G. lucidum were regenerated at 0.20 to 0.27 percent on MCM, MMM and SCM. Of the cultures obtained from protoplasts regenerated, 13 to 29 percent were monokaryon.

The complex refractive indices of $Ge_2Se_2Te_5$ which show reversible phase change between the crystalline phase and an amorphous one depending upon the annealing process have been determined in the spectral range of 0.7-4.5 eV. The $Ge_2Se_2Te_5$ films were DC sputter deposited on the crystalline silicon substrate. The spectro-ellipsometry data of a thick film were analyzed following the modelling procedure where the quantum mechanical dispersion relation were used for the complex refractive indices of both the cryastalline phase $Ge_2Se_2Te_5$ and and amorphous phase $Ge_2Se_2Te_5$, respectively. On the other hand, with the surface micro-roughness layer whose effective thickness was determined from AFM analysis, the spectro-ellipsometry data were numerically inverted to yield the complex refractive index of $Ge_2Se_2Te_5$ at each wavelength. With these set of complex refractive indices, the reflectance spectra were calculated and those spectra obtained from the numerical inversion showed better agreement with the experimental reflection spectra for both the cryastalline phase and an amorphous phase. Finally, the thin $Ge_2Se_2Te_5$ film which has the optimum thickness of 26 nm as the medium for optical recording was also analyzed and the quantitative result of the film thickness and the surface microroughness has been reported.
Self-incompatibility (SI) system is a genetic barrier that prevents self-fertilization and promotes cross-pollination among different S genotypes. In many of these species, SI is controlled by a single genetic locus known as S locus, which prevents the fertilization by pollen with same locus. S RNases are the products of the S-locus expressed in the stylar tissue of Fuji Apple with gametophytic self-incompatibility system. This study investigated the various types of chemicals in order to select more effective inhibitors and activators. The effect on the inhibition of S RNase of Fuji apples was investigated $in$$vitro$. The result showed that the enzyme activity was reduced 24.3% by Iron(II) Sulfate, significantly. $In$$vitro$ studies of pollen growth tube showed that pollen tube growth had a higher germination rate (90%) in 10% Sucrose than in 2% sucrose extension medium. Data on the fruit set of apples treated with inhibitor and activator. Double application of $A^+$(Apple Plus, ISTECH Co. Ltd.,)+Vitamin B6 had the highest central fruit set as 86.1%(Andong). One time application of $A^{++}$Vitamin B1 in Yeongju obtained the highest central fruit set (91.9%).
This survey was conducted to secure a basic data for the effective training programs that might be an essential part of any successful mechanization of agriculture in Korea. Chung Nam provincial training center and 17 guidance offices with farm machinery training centers which were thought to be a medium level on their scale in whole country were selected in the survey on its training accomplishments, stafts, facilities, schedule and number of trainees at one time or in a class. The results and recommendations from this survey were as follows; To enhance the effect of farm machinery training, it was absolutely necessary for city or county training center to complement its facilities and equipments. It might be desirable that instructors of each training center should be the one educated or highly trained in the institution of farm machinery, and that the number of technical assistants should be increased and their present part time working condition should be changed to full-time status. It was recommended that training for farmers should be scheduled during off-season so that farmers could participate in the training couses, and that the number of trainees in a class should be reduced to about 10 trainees, which was approximately a fourth of the present situation.

The objective of this research was to determine the effect of light quality on formation of fruit body primordia (FBPs) of Ganoderma lucidum. To achieve this 5 isolates of the fungus that develops fruit body primordia on nutrient agar media were incubated with or without continuous irradiation. The fluorescent lamps used different colors such as black light blue (BLB), pure blue (P-B), pure green (P-G), pure yellow (P-Y) and pure red (P-R). Effect of periodic light and dark exposures on FBP formation of isolate Gl-009 was investigated. The FBP formation in G. lucidum isolates was also tested under monochromatic light produced by the combination of interference filters and colored glass filters. Three isolates produced FBPs under all kinds of fluorescent lamps, whereas two induced FBPs only under visible light except for BLB fluorescent lamp. However, these isolate did not form FBPs in the dark. The FBP was formed at light intensity from 0.05 to $10.0\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$, and begun to reduce its number as light intensity increase over $0.5\;{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$. When the isolate was incubated under periodic light and dark exposures, the number and weight of FBP increased as compared with those under continuous light. Initiation of FBP requires at least 4 days of light illumination. Although isolate Gl-003 produced FBPs in a wide range of 400 to 800 nm, other four isolates had two effective regions 400 to 500 nm and 700 to 750 nm in FBP formation.
