To investigate the effect of the frequently used anti-obese medicine GyeongshinhaeGihwan 1 (GGT1), in food intake, body weight and food efficiency ratio for high fat diet induced obese male rats. Also, to value the diffences between GyeogshinhaeGihwan 1 and FDA approved Sibutramine in anti-obesity effect. High fat diet induced obese male rats were classified into four groups - positive control group, negative control group, GyeongshinhaeGihwan 1 group and Sibutramine group - and their food intake and body weight were observed for eight weeks. Anti-obesity effect was estimated with food efficiency ratio which is calculated by weight inclose divided by food intake. The result shown in Fig. 2 suggests that the GyeongshinhaeGihwan 1 group is more effective on food intake control than the Sibutramine group. Average weight variation shows an increase in both positive/negative control group and medication group. Also, the result in Fig. 3 indicates that average food efficiency ratio decreases contrary to the average weight variation. In addition, repeatedly estimated variance analysis on average food efficiency ratio of the GyeonushinhaeGihwan 1 group shows (1) the result corollary to the time of observation of food efficiency ratio was effective under 0.05 variance (P-value 0.000). The differences between each groups were not shown under 0.05 variance. Compared to the control group, medication groups were visually more effective on food intake control. Although both groups had a tendency of weight increasing, food efficiency ratio considering food intake and weight variation rate showed a decrease. Especially, the medication group variated less than the control group corollary to the point of time, proving the individuals react less sensitive to the medicine. Moreover, there were no differences in the anti-obesity effect between GyeongshinhaeGihwan 1 group and Sibutramine group studied by repeatedly estimating variance analysis(P-value: 0.610). When considering Sibutramine as an anti-obesity medicine approved by FDA, the point of being classifed in the same group proves the effect of GyeongshinhaeGihwan 1 as an anti-obesity medicine.
The mechanical and thermal behaviors of polyamide-6/clay nanocomposites were studied using the continuum-based, micromechanical models such as Mori-Tanaka, Halpin-Tsai and shear lag. Mechanic-based model prediction provides a better understanding regarding the dependence of the nanocomposites' reinforcement efficiency on conventional filler structural parameters such as filler aspect ratio ($\alpha$), filler orientation (S), filler weight fraction (${\Psi}_f$), and filler/matrix stiffness ratio ($E_f/E_m$). For an intercalated and exfoliated nanocomposite, an effective, filler-based, micromechanical model that includes effective filler structural parameters, the number of platelets per stack (n) and the silicate inter-layer spacing ($d_{001}$), is proposed to describe the mesoscopic intercalated filler and the nanoscopic exfoliated filler. The proposed model nicely captures the experimental modulus behaviors for both intercalated and exfoliated nanocomposites. In addition, the model prediction of the heat distortion temperature is examined for nanocomposites with different filler aspect ratio. The predicted heat distortion temperature appears to be reasonable compared to the heat distortion temperature obtained by experimental tests. Based on both the experimental results and model prediction, the reinforcement efficiency and heat resistance of the polyamide-6/clay nanocomposites definitely depend on both conventional (${\alpha},\;S,\;{\Psi}_f,\;E_f/E_m$) and effective (n, $d_{001}$) filler structural parameters.

Ethanol extract of 20 botanicals in 3 concentrations i.e., 2.5%, 5% and 10% were evaluated for their efficacy to improve reproductive performance of mulberry silkworm (Bombyx mod L.) through feeding botanical enriched mulberry leaves during $2^{nd}$ day of $4^{th}$ age as well as $1^{st}$ and $3^{rd}$ day of $5^{th}$ age larvae. The preliminary screening was done by ranking the botanicals based on influence in most important reproductive contributing parameters such as single cocoon weight, effective rate of rearing, pupation rate, fecundity and recovery of eggs/kg cocoon. Five botanicals viz., Asparagus recemosus, Achyranthes aspera, Tribulus terrestris, Withania somnifera, Parthenium histerophorus ranked first were further evaluated at 8% 5% and 3% concentrations to confirm their effectiveness and standardize effective concentration. Among the rearing parameters, mature larval weight, shell ratio and number of cocoons/kg were not significantly influenced by the treatments. However, reproductive parameters such as effective rate of rearing (wt), pupation rate (%), fecundity (No.) and egg recovery (g)/kg cocoon were significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the botanicals. Higher fecundity and egg recovery were obtained on treatment with Withania somnifera irrespective of concentrations. However at 5% concentration, pupation rate, fecundity as well as egg recovery were found significantly higher than that of other concentrations, confirming its effectiveness for improving reproductive efficiency.

The effects of paper properties such as density, air permeability, water vapor transmission rate on the thermal performance of plate-type enthalpy exchanger were experimentally investigated. Papers having different properties were made from the same pulp by calendering or refining. Enthalpy exchanger samples were made from the papers, and were tested according to the standard test procedure (KS B 6879). Effective efficiencies were obtained, which accounted for the air leakage between supply and exhaust streams. Results showed that paper density affected the sensible heat transfer of the samples. Sensible heat transfer increased with density of the paper. It was also shown that effective efficiency of latent heat transfer was approximately the same independent of the samples, which suggests that papers made of the same pulp show similar water vapor transmission characteristics independent of the degree of calendering or refining. Best performance was obtained for the sample having highest paper density and moderate water vapor transmission ratio.

Improving spectrum utilization efficiency is a fundamental goal of dynamic spectrum access technology. The definition of spectrum holes determines how to detect and exploit them. Current definitions of spectrum holes are ineffective in exploiting spatial-temporal spectrum holes. In this paper, a novel definition of spectrum holes is proposed, in which throughput loss indicates the impact of secondary users on primary users. The definition specifies spectrum holes, unifies the impact of secondary users on primary users and is effective exploiting spatial-temporal spectrum holes. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulations show that the new definition proposed in this paper significantly improves the spectrum utilization efficiency.
This paper describes the shape optimization of rotor blade in a transonic axial compressor rotor. Three surrogate models, Kriging, radial basis neural network and response surface methods, are introduced to find optimum blade shape and to compare the characteristics of object function at each optimal design condition. Blade sweep, lean and skew are considered as design variables and adiabatic efficiency is selected as an objective function. Throughout the shape optimization of the compressor rotor, the predicted adiabatic efficiency has almost same value for three surrogate models. Among the three design variables, a blade sweep is the most sensitive on the object function. It is noted that the blade swept to backward and skewed to the blade pressure side is more effective to increase the adiabatic efficiency in the axial compressor Flow characteristics of an optimum blade are also compared with the results of reference blade.

In this paper, the effects of ethanol blended gasoline on emissions and their catalytic conversion efficiency characteristics were investigated in a multiple-point EFI gasoline engine, The results show that with the increase of ethanol concentration in the blended fuels, THC emissions were drastically reduced by up to thirty percent, And brake specific fuel consumption was increased, but brake specific energy consumption could be improved. However, unburned ethanol and acetaldehyde emissions increased. Pt/Rh based three-way catalysts were effective to reduce acetaldehyde emissions, but had low catalytic conversion efficiency for unburned ethanol. The effect of ethanol on CO and NOx emissions and their catalytic conversion efficiency had close relation to the engine's speed, load and air/fuel ratio. Furthermore fuels blended with thirty percent ethanol by volume could dramatically reduced THC CO and NOx emissions at idle speed.
This study was carried out to investigate influencing factors of bisphenol A(BPA) removal characteristic in conventional water treatment systems to be connected with coagulation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection. The result are summarized as follows; In BPA removal, optimal doses of PAC, alum, ferric chloride were 7.5 mg Al/L, 10.0 mg AI/L, 15.0 mg Fek. PAC was most effective coagulant to remove BPA. In coagulation process, BPA removal efficiency were increased about 2% by adjusting pH of raw water as 6. At temperature rise 1$0^{\circ}C$, BPA removal efficiency were increased 0.94%. but BPA removal efficiency in sand filtration process were under 1 %ie, so that BPA was almost not removed. At free chlorine dose 1, 2 mg/L, the reaction rate constant k in the BPA removal have been calculated to be 0.397, 0.953 min$^{-1}$ . At free chlorine dose 1, 2 mg/1-, degradation reaction of BPA was completed during 10 min and BFA removal efficiencies were 97.66, 99.99% at this time.
To treat certain wastewater that has alcohol and phenol, we performed the ozone electrolysis by using the titanium electrode. In this experiment, we examined decomposition voltage of organics, time for electrolysis, and removal efficiency of organics. In addition we compared the ozone oxidation electrolysis. The followings are results; 1. When it comes to the alcohol treatment in wastewater, ozone electrolysis showed higher removal efficiency than ozone oxidation or electrolysis. 2. After comparing the decomposition rate of methylalcohol, ethylalcohol, and prophylalcohol in ozone electrolysis, we knew the fact that increasing carbon number made the decomposition rate slow. 3. According to the treatment of alcohol by ozone electrolysis, decomposition voltage was 50V, time for electrolysis was three hours, and treatment acidity was neutral (pH 6.5 - 8.1). 4. Ozone electrolysis was effective to the phenol treatment. When we treated phenol by using ozone electrolysis for three hours, TOC treatment efficiency was 95%. However, ozone oxidation just showed 45% treatment efficiency.

The Electrostatic Precipitator is one of the most favorable device of particulate control systems because of the relatively higher collection efficiency and easier operation/maintenance. However, it requires very high initial coat especially for discharging electrodes and collecting plates. In dealing with such problems, development of optimum design can be one of the solutions. In this study, a bench-scale electrostatic precipitator was operated in terms of collection area and corona power, and its performances were analyzed focusing on collection efficiency. A result of this study, a more advanced approach for designing cost-effective precipitator by promoting corona power at a minimized collection area was proposed.
