The development of construction industry has led to the increase in the number of criteria imposed by project clients for selecting contractors. For example, clients often request tenderers to satisfy various conditions such as tight programme, financial strength, managerial ability, relevant work experiences, technical strength, high workmanship standard, safety requirement, quality specification, and yet others. This trend has attracted research interests of devising various methods for helping project clients to assess contractors' bids. For example, in recent development, the Works Bureau of the Hong Kong Government has introduced two mechanisms in tender evaluation for various public work contracts, namely, the Marking Scheme effective from June 2002 and the Formula Approach effective from November 2002 [1], [2]. These approaches evaluate a contractor's tender by considering collectively its tender price and performance attributes, the latter including contractor experience, past performance, technical resources and technical content of his proposal. The tender with the highest combined price and performance score (CPPS) will be normally recommended for acceptance. It appears, however, that there is little existing research in helping contractors to identify a competition strategy that enables the contractor to offer his most competitive bid collectively taking into account his resource capacities and project client's multiple performance criteria. This paper examines the factors affecting contractor's competition strategy to compete for works in Hong Kong. The understanding about the factors will contribute to identifying effective competition strategy. The data used for the analysis were collected from Hong Kong construction industry. The research findings may provide valuable references for investigating effective competition strategies in other construction industries outside the region.
This paper aims to develop methodology and indicators to review effective competition in Korean mobile telecommunication market. After examining strengths and weaknesses of other countries' experiences, we proposed several indicators for the assessment of competition. Developed from criteria such as transparency, regulation cost, policy objectives, proposed indicators comprise market structure, behaviour of sellers and consumers, and consumer benefits. These indicators are applied to the Korean mobile market. During the period 2001-2004, 'the competition assessment index' increased steadily, meaning the state of competition was aggravated during this period.

A free-market economic system supported by the progress of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has given birth to a sharing economy with a disruptive business model. In many ways, this business model is more effective, efficient, and makes it easy for businesses and consumers. However, because disruptive innovation is not asymmetrical with the conventional business that sustains innovation, several regulatory issues arise because it is fundamentally very different and cannot be regulated by standard law. Disruptive innovation may create chaos if it is regulated by norms that are used to regulate conventional business. This research was conducted with a normative method, which examines various theories, principles, laws and regulations to get justification for how the law should govern. The findings of this study are: competition law must be designed pragmatically so that it can keep pace with changes in business models that are rapidly changing. For this reason, it is necessary to shift regulatory authority from the Government to business people to make self-regulation, as a rule, that was born from the agreement of the business actors themselves. Self-regulation is considered more effective in maintaining fair competition, so that the market will be more dynamic, and consumers will be more prosperous.

The UK mobile market continues to grow as much as 73 percent of UK adults had a mobile telephone in August 2001. As a result of increasing competition, market shares of 4 operators, Vodafone, BTCellnet, One2One, Orange, in the UK mobile market become to be balanced. This paper examined driving factors for increasing competition and balancing market in the UK mobile market. In the Korean mobile market, leading operators' market share continues to be bigger than new entrants. Users have been decreased opportunity selecting operators by M&A. This paper discussed the policy options for the effective competition in the Korean mobile market based on the case of the UK mobile market.
Generally, electricity market has monopoly market structure because of need of enormous investment for infrastructure. However, the introduction of competition in network industry as electricity is a tendency of the world with decreasing the effects of economy of scale due to the advancement of technology. Now, electricity industry restructuring is in progress but the competition in electricity retail market is not in force yet in Korea. Whether a effective competition exist or not is very important to policy decision maker who drive restructuring, but there are small numbers of quantitative researches on that. In this study, we estimated the effectiveness of competition in the electricity retail market through switching costs. If switching costs are high, consumers actually can be locked in incumbent firm in spite of introduction of competition. Therefore switching is a critical factor to determine effectiveness of competition and to estimate the size of switching costs quantitatively can proffer the information about whether the competition in the electricity retail market is effective or not in the future. We estimated switching costs using consumer' stated-preference data by conjoint analysis. In according to estimation results, the cost of switching process is not so high, but the relative brand loyalty of an incumbent company is significantly high. And the price is considered as the most important factor choosing an electric service commodity. Based on the empirical results, it is possible to analyze the relationship between suppliers' competitiveness resulted from management efficiency and customers' switching possibilities. The paper therefore provides guidance for suppliers in deciding to enter into retail competition and for policy makers in introducing retail competition. And it has a significance of estimating the switching costs directly.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the government support project on traditional market and the interaction effect between the government support project and the competition intensity. Therefore, this study focuses on the competition intensity of individual stores in traditional markets, unlike the traditional research flow, which is beyond the competitive structure of traditional markets and large retailers. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is based on the data of 'Statistics of Traditional Market in 2017'. In this study, a multiple regression equation was constructed using the number of government support projects as an independent variable, competition intensity as an interaction, and sales per store, number of customers per store as a dependent variable for analysis. A multiple regression equation was constructed for the main effect analysis. To investigate the effect of the interaction, cohen(1980)'s regression equation and two-way ANOVA were used. Results - First, according to this study, the traditional market participated in the government support project showed that the sales and the number of visitors per store in the traditional market were higher than those in the non-participation market. Second, the impact of government support projects on sales per store(also number of visiting customers per store) can be different depending on the competition intensity. More specifically, if the market is politically supported by a market with a high level of competition, it may be more effective than the market with no support. Conclusions - Based on the results of the study, we suggested academic and practical implications and suggested that competition intensity of stores in the traditional market should be considered in the future. The implications of this study are as follows. First, the effects of the government's traditional market support project were analyzed empirically. Second, this study is different from the previous studies in that it examined the competitive strengths and the effects of individual stores in traditional markets, away from competition between traditional market and large retailers. Third, it provided practical implications for the operation of government support projects.
We analyzed the effect of 6-month lagged number portability policy and introduction of common number among carriers on Korean mobile market. Our result shows that the policy change contributed to both the increase in number of mobile subscribers and decrease in dominant carrier's market share. We found that unified prefix among mobile operators is more effective than the lagged number portability policy. The carriers' profit, however, decreased a lot due to excessive marketing expenditure. We also estimated market shares of carriers up to year 2005 when full number portability policy is adopted. The results show that dominant carrier's monopolistic power will be recovered by the end of 2005 implying government's number policy itself cannot guarantee the effective competition in Korean mobile market.
Purpose - "Higher education of vocational education focuses on Discipline competition" This is the requirement of the education sector in China for the Application-oriented Undergraduate in the 21st century. As an integral part of Higher education vocational education, Discipline competition is not only an effective way to test the higher education reform of the Application-oriented Undergraduate, but also a measure of the level of Application-oriented Undergraduate. Research design, data, and methodology - The study conducted a survey on SPSS 24.0 Through factor analysis of 192 questionnaires data. After empirically analyzing the data, we found that the factors can be classified into four main factors. Result - This study shows that in terms of gender, boys are more susceptible to external factors and time factors while girls are more vulnerable to internal factors. And girls are more susceptible to internal factors. In terms of professional categories, non-teacher students are more likely to be hindered by external factors such as missing entry information. Conclusion - This paper assumes that there are significant differences in internal promotion and barriers in different disciplines competition.
The aim of this study is to establish resident-participative primary design of integrated rural development project with master planner by setting principals of open competition and transparent decision-making about village-to-village or business-to-business unit enterprise in Onui area, Hong-seong Gun. For effective processing, software projects such as residents education and rural landscape planning are simultaneously conducted for enhancing project understanding and comprehensive development plan including related post project. Above all, competition teams for individual project were organized to establish the resident-participative primary design using survey tables of residents demand. In 6 months resident-participative processing of primary design, continuous education and visiting to advanced area are conducted in team unit. Strengthened ability of team unit can be used in management and maintenance after project development. To do this, residents with the same opinions gathered as one competition team and identified business plans such as village asset, business location, size, program, and method for land securing. Favorable decision-making process by residents who are audience in project presentation of competition team has conducted. After selecting competition teams, continuos consulting are operated for establishing operation and management for developed or remodeled facilities through repetitive education and visiting advanced area. In this process, unit project suggested by competition team are completed. Preliminary selection was conducted by experts who were entrusted by residents. After residents agreement of project main stream such as major facilities and location, final detailed cost of projects are work out. Suggested process in this study which choose the final project by residents would improve residents' voluntary participation in integrated rural development project through open competition in establishing primary design.

The purpose of this study is to find out whether pre-service biology teachers' biological meanings of competition and adaptation is the same as everyday meanings to understand natural selection and evolution. Fifty three pre-service biology teachers answered written tests and thirteen of them were interviewed. The tests on general meanings on competition and adaptation, tests on biological meanings on competition and adaptation and tests on natural selection were administered. Questions on semi-structured interviews were composed of only biological meanings about competition and adaptation. Analyzing data through four steps, pre-service biological teachers' general meanings on competition and adaptation were compared with the definitions of Korean dictionary and compared with biological definitions. Pre-service teachers' alternative conceptions about biological competition and adaptation were classified and the alternative conceptual types were checked when explaining natural selection and evolution. They realized competition is battle for intention or purpose like everyday meaning of competition. However, they didn't realize adaptation happen in the population level. They thought that adaptation, like in everyday life meaning, is getting suitable to environment for survival on an individual level. By relating adaptation to evolution, they thought that long-lasting adaptation become evolution. This study has significance with respect to suggesting the alternative concepts of competition and adaptation based on effective evolution teaching from constructivism viewpoint and highlighting the importance of the concepts of biological competition and adaptation, which have been concerned rarely for a long time.
