  • It is said that ceramic arts which reflects the sprit of the age and culture is one of the representative cultural assets in Korea. Ceramic arts has the longest tradition and it has been used in our everyday life from a historical perspective. Unfortunately, most textbooks we use nowadays just show some art works for appreciation. It is impossible to teach unique techniques of ceramic arts with those textbooks. Traditional culture is not considered as a main part of educational contents but surrounding elements. Therefore it is hard for students to learn about our traditional culture deeply and it is also difficult to know the importance of the ceramic arts in secondary schools. Through the education of ceramic arts students can understand our traditional culture and they can also experience the formative arts by using plane and dimensional techniques. Teachers have to focus on historical background, types, functions, and sense of beauty of ceramic arts when they teach students in school. Students can use the knowledge in their daily lives. The education of ceramic arts encourage students to create new culture for ceramic arts.

The results of the study indicated that 23 of the total 25 attributes were significantly different between domestic and foreign culinary arts school.; the "minium 4 hour-kitchen class" and "mandatory internship program" were classified into "indifferent quality" for domestic schools and a "must-be quality" for foreign schools; "well-organized internship guidebook", "kitchen class limited to 20 students", "introducing the latest food or restaurant trends", "library with the latest publications related to major", "objective instructor's evaluation", "detailed instructor's evaluation", "instructor's field experience", and "decent communication skills on the part of the instructor" attributes were classified into "attractive quality" for domestic schools and "must-be quality" for foreign schools; and "kitchen classes operated by block system", and "foreign instructors for each ethnic cuisine" attributes were classified into "indifferent" and "attractive quality" for both domestic and foreign schools, respectively. Also, according to the Better and Worse quotient designed by Timko, there were more attributes for domestic school than for foreign school that scored over 0.5 in the Better category and fewer attributes for domestic than the foreign scored over 0.5 in the Worse category. • The rapidly changing 21st-century knowledge and information society is emphasizing converged education that crosses various academic fields. In particular, the society expected the cultivation of the talent who balance scientific creativity and artistic sensitivity by adding arts to the existing converged education revolving around science and technology. However, at present, most STEAM education has been actively conducted with a focus on science and technology, whereas the subject of arts has been regarded or utilized as a supplementary means. Its problem is that the educational characteristics and values of art education have not been effectively utilized in educational terms and this could lead to superficial integrated education. In this respect, this study had the knowledge of various fields, such as science, technology, and mathematics, utilized usefully during the process of experiencing and creating arts. Accordingly, this study designed an education programs as with the case of Nam-Jun Baek who expanded the dominion of arts by creatively utilizing his own time's scientific technologies. In this educational process, the target program was developed in a manner that enables EPL to be utilized essentially as the study's knowledge-based tool and medium. The results of applying this educational program in 5th-grade elementary school students showed that the program has positive effects on the creative attributes of the students.

  • This study aimed to find ways to reduce self-censorship by identifying the conflict and attribution to the motivation for self-censorship during the curriculum of the College of Arts. The analysis confirmed the significance of each relationship by conducting a correlation and regression analysis between the variables, and the analysis of the effects was based on the significant factors among them. The analysis showed the external locus of control toward self-censorship and interpersonal conflict had a partial mediation effect. In other words, as the degree of conflict in the educational environment increases, art college students are aware of the cause of the problem due to external characteristics such as others, task difficulty, etc., and thus confirmed the conclusion that frustration and shame caused by it become the motive for self-censorship.

  • Creative spatial production in Environmental design relies, in large part, on the artistic talent of the designer(s) that is applied to the design solutions or schematic plans. This study proposes the importance and necessity of the use of 'Plastic Arts" or the technique of artistic manipulation and definition of space in Environmental Design studio programs. This fundamental design approach is currently lacking in Korean design studio programs. Moreover, the current trend of interdisciplinary design (that is, between landscape architecture, architecture, urban and environmental planning) emphasizes the importance of such techniques. "plastic Arts" techniques can serve as a basic code of communication between design disciplines and can in itself be a common approach. The method of this study is based on the empirical datas, that is, the educational performances which are executed in Landscape studio programs of some Korean Universities. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The program, "Plastic Arts" Should be included in the basic organization of Landscape design studio programs. 2. Unlike France where "Plastic Arts" program is implemented through out Landscape Architecture programs in Korea, "Plastic Arts" should be intensified and continued for longer period of time for students in the initial years. 3. In creation of "Plastic Arts" programs for Korean Landscape Design studios, the traditional and contemporary values of aesthetic of the Nature should be taken in consideration. 4. In order to confirm the necessity of "Plastic arts" program in the organization of landscape curriculum, more studies should be done, with empirical datas.pe curriculum, more studies should be done, with empirical datas.

  • This study aimed to develop a convergent arts and science program for 5yearold children and to evaluate this effectiveness of the program. To meet the purpose of this study, 34 children (aged, 5 year) were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. To the experimental group, the creative arts and science convergence program of interest in this study was delivered over a period of 8 weeks. The children of the control group were delivered the Nuri Curriculum (standardized educational curriculum targeted for 3- to 5year olds) during the same experimental period. The levels of the children's creativity were assessed using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking-Figural and those of their scientific inquiry ability were tested by using the Scientific Inquiry Ability Assessment Scale. The analysis of covariance calculated using by IBM SPSS ver. 21.0 revealed that the experimental group scored higher in creativity and scientific inquiry than did the control group. The results indicated that the proposed convergent arts and science program was effective in promoting creativity and scientific inquiry ability of young children. In this paper, along with the main results of this study, the implications for research and practice are discussed.

  • In this study, the Q method is used to investigate the types of perceptions of liberal arts education perceived by college students and to investigate the characteristics of each type. 33 Q samples were extracted from the Q population collected through literature research, open questionnaires, and deep interviews. Q classification was conducted for 27 students of A University located in B City. The data was analyzed using the QUANL program. In the research, the types of awareness of liberal arts education were derived as "pursuit of various experiences", "pursuit of practical studies", "pursuit of accident expansion", and "pursuit of social change". The results of this study re-establish the meaning of liberal arts education in university education and suggest that it is necessary to consider various educational contents and teaching learning methods.
