The paper addresses the importance of redesigning strategies for resilient and sustainable regional economic development - by applying strategic approaches to free economic zones for the digital economy. The purpose of the paper is to provide a broad comparative perspective on developed versus developing country efforts to use free economic zone programs to enhance various economic and social objectives. First, the paper introduces the chronicle experiences of free economic zone programs in South Korea and mainland China - developed versus developing economies. The main results of the analysis indicate that (1) achieving the goals and objectives of free economic zones is challenging over time; (2) trying to upgrade the technical component, develop knowledge-based and eco-friendly new industries, or value-added to the economy through free economic zone policies is even challenging; and (3) incentives and other program-specific variables are highly context-specific and not structurally correlated with free economic zone performance. In addition, the paper shows that the initial conception of the role of free economic zones has undergone significant change as individual countries have tried to enhance the contributions and avoid damages from incorporating free economic zones into their development strategy respectively, over time.

The main purpose of this study is to reveal the historical origins of Latin American economic underdevelopment, by answering two research questions; 1)'Why is Latin America underdeveloped?' and 2)'How has colonial experience impacted on the economic growth in Latin America?' First, this essay analyzes long-term tendency of growth domestic product(GDP) per capita data. The data verify that current underdevelopment of Latin American economy is the result of economic stagnation during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when Latin America suffered political and economic instability before and after the independence from Spain and Portugal. It elucidates that colonial experience affected on the economic growth in Latin America. Second, this essay reviews key independent variables of the relationship between colonial experience and economic growth in Latin America. To do so, the study categorizes extant literature into two groups according to the type of its independent variables: 1)internal factor and 2)external factor. Finally, the essay surveys the role of institutions in Latin American economic growth and development. The survey confirms that the importance of institutions in the study of Latin American economic history. In addition, the essay suggests some tasks for further research in Latin American economic history; 1)the construction of basic economic data, 2)the substantialization of the role and characteristics of institutions, and 3)the expansion of research on institutions which overcomes ideological rigidity of existing institutional approach.

This research endeavors to explore the enhancement of workforce economic efficiency through the application of nanotechnology, focusing on its economic implications. The findings of this investigation reveal that in recent years, surging global population growth and escalating demands for products and services have led to excessive resource consumption, resulting in adverse environmental consequences and altering environmental conditions-a phenomenon referred to as the economic growth dilemma. Entrepreneurs and economic stakeholders have begun to recognize the importance of sustainable development and the integration of environmental considerations into the production of goods and services. Within this context, knowledge-based economies have emerged as a driving force for sustainable business practices, particularly in the realm of nanotechnology. The integration of nanotechnology across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, environmental management, and the chemical and petroleum sectors, as well as energy distribution, has yielded remarkable results. Consequently, this research aims to investigate the application and integration of nanotechnology in environmentally friendly silver nanoparticle production within select industries. Subsequently, it will examine the far-reaching implications of nanotechnology on economic growth and sustainable development.

With the Chinese government's attention to the artificial intelligence industry, the Chinese government has invested a lot in it recently. Of course, the importance of artificial intelligence industry for China's economic development is increasingly significant. The advent of artificial intelligence boom has also triggered a large number of scientists to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on economic growth. Therefore, this paper use 31 China's cross-province panel data to study the effect of artificial intelligence on economic growth. Via empirical analyses under a series of econometric methods such as the province and year fixed effect model, the empirical result shows that artificial intelligence has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Namely, the artificial intelligence is a new engine for economic growth. Meanwhile, the empirical results also indicate that the investment and consumption has a significant and positive effect on economic growth. Oppositely, the inflation and government purchase have a significant negative effect on economic growth. These findings in this paper also provide some important evidences for policy-makers to perform precise behaviors so as to promote the economic growth. Moreover, these finding enriches existing literature on artificial intelligence and economic growth.

The purpose of this study are to examine the types and sources of information used for housing choices and to figure out the related factors. Data are collected through self-administered questionnaires designed for this study, and the sample consists of 396 households in Pusan and Ulsan. The purposes are accomplished through descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses. Based on the results of analysis, housing information are divided into four specific types : economic. technical, housing unit, and neighborhood information. It is found that housing unit information including housing quality and economic information such as housing prices are identified as the most important ones for current and future housing choices. The most useful sources of housing information utilized for current housing are friends, relatives and neighbors. In addition, model house, real estate office, newspaper and adverizement are the another useful sources for housing information. Among them, the model house is the most helpful one for variety of housing information. Young households and those with a head whose occupation is professional/managerial tend to have higher recognition of the importance of housing information than do the other groups. The households currently living in small apartment and with a young eldest child are likely to have higher recognition of the importance of econimic information. Tenure type, the occupation of the household head, the age of the eldest child, and length of residence are the significant explanatory variables of the recognition of the importance of housing unit information.

This study analyzed the effects of internet fashion consumer characteristics and shopping motivation on price sensitivity as well as the effect of price sensitivity on negative purchasing behavior. A survey was conducted from August 10 to September 20 in 2012 and 364 responses were used in the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The characteristics of internet fashion consumers were composed of innovation tendency, impulse buying tendency, information orientation, and variety seeking tendency. Shopping motivation was composed of convenient motivation, social motivation, hedonic motivation, product motivation, and economic motivation. The information orientation and variety seeking tendency of internet fashion consumers influenced the price search. The innovation tendency, impulse buying tendency, and variety seeking tendency of internet fashion consumers influenced the price importance. Convenient motivation, hedonic motivation, and product motivation positively affected the price search; however, social motivation negatively affected the price search. The social motivation, hedonic motivation, and economic motivation of internet fashion consumers positively affected price importance. Price search and price importance influenced the purchasing delay; in addition, price search influenced the switching intention. The results of this study provide useful information for customer management and internet shopping mall marketing strategies.

Information technology has been transforming the relationship between shippers and carriers, but an unresolved question remains: what is the relative importance to shippers of service versus cost benefits of e-logistics solutions? This research develops and empirically tests a model to determine how Internet-based logistical operations in international shipping impact on the relative importance of cost versus service benefits to shippers. Contrary to expectations, results show that shippers perceived cost benefits from well-designed web sites, undoubtedly a consequence of perceptions that multi-function portals with ease of access contributed to savings in time and money. Another result was the confirmation of the positive effects of cargo tracing and bill of lading issuance on service-related factors. Finally, this study draws attention to the need for improvements in on-line booking capabilities and development of a comprehensive common portal; issues that must be addressed for shipping lines to succeed in an increasingly competitive e-logistics market.

Purpose - Vietnam has the fastest growing digital economy in Southeast Asia and is emerging as a critical overseas market for Korean banks in the post-COVID-19 era. Accordingly, many Korean banks entered the Vietnamese market to overcome the limitations of the saturated domestic financial market and create new revenue sources. This study examined the current status of digital finance in Vietnam and the cases of Korean banks that have succeeded in the Vietnamese market. Then, importance-performance analysis (IPA) was conducted on local customers, managers and staff members of Korean banks in Vietnam. Design/methodology - In this study, we analyzed the importance and satisfaction factors of mobile banking app usage in Vietnam through IPA. In particular, we identified the differences between the two groups by considering the viewpoint of customers who use mobile banking apps and that of managers and staff members who provide mobile banking services. Findings - The IPA results from the customer group and managers and staff members group were generally similar, but differences were observed in Ease of Use (Technology), Innovativeness (Organization), and Increase in Revenue (Economic). In the case of the customer group, Ease of Use (Technology) is located in the second quadrant, which shows low satisfaction compared to high importance. However, in the managers and staff members group, Ease of Use (Technology) is located in the first quadrant, which indicates high importance and high satisfaction. This difference in perception can cause complaints from local customers; thus, it is necessary to change the perception of the technological aspect for ease of use of mobile banking apps in consideration of the customer's position. In addition, it is necessary to allocate the resources invested in the Innovativeness (Organization) and Increase in Revenue (Economic) to Ease of Use (Technology). Originality/value - In this study, based on the HOTE framework, factors for using mobile banking apps were derived, and IPA was conducted targeting local customers (app user) and managers and staff members (app provider) of Korean banks in Vietnam. Through this, we presented the results of empirical analysis that can help Korean banks efficiently utilize limited resources and budgets.

This study is to explore implications for sustainable development of Yangdong Village in Gyeongju through identifying effect of its designation as a World Cultural Heritage on residents' quality of life. The following are the findings achieved by empirical analysis. First, eight valuable factors of placeness were identified through factor analysis, about which residents were especially conscious in terms of "living condition", "cultural environment", "economic QOL", "natural environment conservation", "sense of community", "cooperative facilities", "control over increasing population", "transport environment". Second, the importance -satisfaction scores of identified 8 factors were found very high in importance showing relatively low level of low level of satisfaction. Especially, what caused residents's low QOL was economic status-concerned factor showing the lowest QOL index, and other factors such as cooperative facilities and transport environment negatively impacted on resident's QOL as well. Also, it was revealed that residents had a positive attitude toward entering of their village into UNESCO world heritage sites with hope that it would improve their economic QOL. Based on these results, implications for sustainability of Yangdong Village and research limitations were discussed, and further research direction was supposed.
