Analysis of Inductive Interference from EHV Transmission to buried Gas Pipelines (초고압 송전선로에서 가스관에 미치는 유도 장해 해석)

  • In this paper, we analyze the inductive coupling between overhead power transmission lines and neighbouring gas pipelines or other conductors, when they parallel to a line section in a phase-to-earth fault is assumed on the transmission line. A numerical procedure employing the finite-element method(FEM) is used in conjunction with Faraday's law, in order to predict the current in a faulted transmission line as well as the induced voltages across points on a pipeline running parallel to the faulted line and remote earth. The results lead to conclusion that may be useful to power system engineers.

Tectonics and Evolutionary History of the Cretaceous Intra-arc Yongdong Basin, Korea

  • The Yongdong basin developed during Early Cretaceous in the central part of the Korean Peninsula and bounded on the northwest and southeast by northeast trending mega-scale strike-slip Yongdong Fault. An 8 km thick succession of exclusively terrigeneous sediments can be grouped into two mega-sequences. In concert with the migration of depocenter, the upper sequence overlaps the lower and occupies northern part of the basin during basin evolution. Alluvial and lacustrine environments were predominantly formed from early to late stage of the basin formation. Several lines of evidence support that the basin was formed within intra-arc tectonic environments and destroyed by polyphase tectonic force. Schematic evolutionary diagram of the basin is proposed.

  • This paper is to demonstrate the effectiveness of one point grounding in support of ESS protection. One point grounding provides for the dispatching of excess energy for protection of switching equipment and personnel from lightning discharge hazards and for a natural sink for noise from atmospheric lightning and power transients. In most ESS installations there are a number of different items that must be maintained at a common ground potential for safety, fault protection or noise reduction. The items typically consist of power systems, heating and ventilating systems, distributing frames, repeating equipmets, switching equipments, etc. Grounding system of an ESS Office is most effective when all the ground points are connected to a single, common earth. The one point grounding prvides a common reference potential, keeping all the items of telecommunications facility free from the earth current and voltage hazards.

  • The purpose of substation grounding system is to provide reference potential with power system and protect field workers from electrical shock resulted from unsymetrical power system faults. For this purpose, grounding grid should be designed to maintain max, touch voltage under safety criteria in fault conditions. It is difficult, however, to design a safe grounding grid at very resistive or narrow area. This paper describes an example of substation grounding grid design procedures in such areas with very severe design conditions. By using grounding conductors, which is located close to earth surface, earth surface potential could be controlled effectively, so that maximum touch voltages is to be maintained under safety criteria.

  • Mesothermal, tellurium-bearing gold-silver vein mineralization of the Yuryang mine was formed in mineralogically complex quartz-sulfide veins that filled the fault fractures in Precambrian gneiss within Gyeonggi Massif. Ore grades average 179 g/ton gold with a gold/silver ratio of 1.5 : 1. Ore mineralization was deposited in single stage. Major ore mineralization can be divided into two mineralization phases with increasing paragenetic time: Fe-sulfide and base-metal mineralization phase $\rightarrow$ telluride mineralization phase.   • Electric power facilities must have effective grounding to provide means to carry electric current into the earth under fault conditions and to prevent damage of equipment, Ignition, and electrocution of presonnel. nuts paper present an algorithm called the Pattern Search method for the optimal parameters selection of the grounding system. Computer simulation results used the CDEGS grounding analysis program verifying the effects of the grounding system design parameters obtained from this method show that the grounding systems are adequately designed.

  • To restrain abnormal voltage and effective operation in protect system, some of customer in Korea earth their own transformer in 154kV power system. The above ground system has some problems if ground fault occurs in other related area such as ground relay errors, under count register in two element register system. There for most huge customers opens the ground neutral and it causes errors in insulate and protection coordination and register system. In this paper presents the solution for above system.

  • There are more than thirty continuously recording GPS stations (CORS) have been set up at different geological sites and distributed throughout a 140 km by 140 km area in southern Taiwan beginning since 2000, and the amount of the CORS are still under increasing in this area which is recognized the suture zone between the Philippe sea plate and Eurasia plate. From the year 2000 to the end of 2005, we analyze the daily solutions to obtain the average station velocities before and after the Chengkung earthquake which occurred near eastern Taiwan at 04:38 UTC on 10 December 2003. After considering the effects of the coseismic and postseismic displacements, the difference of the horizontal components reaches 13 mm/year of the average station velocity happened in the east side of the Central Range. To the vertical component, all of the stations are risen which located in the Coastal Range, and the largest difference approaches 20mm/year.
