  • Co-existence of various wireless systems may cause frequency interference problem. For this reason, frequency sharing studies play a very important role in order to use limited spectrum resources efficiently. Especially, because a satellite system covers a global area in nature, the frequency sharing between the satellite system and terrestrial systems is essential. For satellite systems using Ka bands, we can increase spectrum efficiency by considering off-axis angles of earth station antenna. In this paper, we demonstrate the analysis result of separation distance between the satellite earth station and a terrestrial repeater, and the presented results can be used to design and implement Ka band wireless systems.

  • This study aimed to verify the validity of a measurement tool for Vietnamese high school students' systems thinking abilities. Two quantitative assessment tools, the Systems Thinking Measuring Instrument (Lee et al., 2013) and the Systems Thinking Scale (Dolansky et al., 2020), were used to measure students' systems thinking after translation into Vietnamese. As a result, it was revealed that Cronbach-α for each tool (i.e., STMI and STS) was .917 and .950, respectively, indicating high reliability for both. To validate the construct validity of the translated questionnaire, exploratory factor analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0, and confirmatory factor analysis was performed using AMOS 21.0. For concurrent validity, correlation analysis using structural equation modeling was performed to validate the translated questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that 10 items from the STMI and 12 items from the STS loaded on the intended factors and appropriate factor loading values were obtained. For confirmatory factor analysis, a structural equation model organized with 10 items from the STMI and 12 items from the STS was used. The result of this showed that the convergent validity values of the model were all appropriate, and the model fit indices were analyzed to be χ2/df of 1.892, CFI of .928, TLI of .919, SRMR of .047, and RMSEA of .063, indicating that the model consisting of the 22 items of the two questionnaires was appropriate. Analysis of the concurrent validity of the two tools indicated a high correlation coefficient (.903) and high correlation (.571-.846) among the subfactors. In conclusion, both the STMI and STS are valid quantitative measures of systems thinking, and it can be inferred that the systems thinking of Vietnamese high-school students can be quantitatively measured using the 22 items identified in our analysis. Using the tool validated in this study with other tools (e.g., qualitative assessment) can help accurately measure Vietnamese high school students' systems thinking abilities. Furthermore, these tools can be used to collect evidence and support effective education in ODA projects and volunteer programs.

  • A ground anchor system is used as a load carrying element in soil work. The conventional systems with ground anthers bring about the anchorage loss of wedges when anchors are installed for the support of soil structures. Hence we developed the new type of anchor system using both the spacing apparatus and spring (length 60mm, diameter 6mm). In this system, we tan directly check the condition of wedges and PS strands and modify the problems with the slip and anchorage of wedges under construction. For demonstrating the superiority of this system, we carried out a series of the laboratory test. Consequently, we can obtain satisfactory result (18.99$\%$ reduction to the loss of conventional systems). Moreover, the replacement of wedges is easy and simple when retensioning of strands.

  • To examine the geochemical behavior and pollution of soils in Gwangju City, an analysis was carried out for pH, on the contents of metals, and organic carbon. Soil samples were taken from environs areas, industrial areas and downtown areas. The major factor controlling the behavior of metallic elements in the soil was chemical weathering of clay mineral in the environs areas, industrialization, and urbanization. Heavy metals including Cu, Pb and Zn were highly enriched for the samples from central part of downtown area. This indicated that the urbanization and the industrialization affected soil pollution. The results show that soil pollution in a metropolitan city which is caused by harmful heavy metals is severest in the center of the city. In consequence, it is inevitable that practical measures should be taken to prevent soil pollution expansion.

  • In this study, we investigated alignment state estimation performances of the three methods i.e. merit function regression (MFR), differential wavefront sampling (DWS) and Multiple Design Configuration Optimization (MDCO). The three target optical systems are 1) a two-mirror Cassegrain system for deep space Earth observation, 2) intermediate size three-mirror anastigmat for Earth ocean monitoring, and 3) extremely large segmented optical system for astronomical observation. We ran alignment state estimation simulation for several alignment perturbation cases including 1mm to 10mm in decenter and from 0.1 to 1 degree in tilt perturbation error for the two-mirror Cassegrain system. In general, we note that MDCO shows more competitive estimation performance than MFR and DWS. The computational concept, case definition and the simulation results are discussed with implications to future works.

  • Several differences are revealed in the segmentation and setation of the antennule, maxillule, maxilliped and fifth legs between three genera of the family Metridinidae, Metridia, Pleuromamma, and Gaussia. The phylogenetic relationships are cladistically analyzed on the basis of 10 morphological characters. The cladogram shows that Gaussia and Pleuromamma form a sister group, with Metridia which is the first branch to diverge within the family. The presence Of quadritheks on the male antennules of Metridia and Pleuromamma seems to be an important synapomorphy. The loss of quadritheks in Gaussia represents likely evidence of a character reversal into the ancestral condition.

  • Haloptilus caribbeanensis Park, 1970 (Copepoda, Calanoida, Augaptilidae) is redescribed in detail on the basis of an adult female collected from Suruga Bay, Japan. This is the first record of the species from the Indo-Pacific region. Morphology of the Pacific specimen agrees well with that of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico specimens, except for the numbers of mandibular teeth. The former has five teeth and the latter six teeth on mandible. The segmentation and segmental aesthetasc numbers of female antennules of H. caribbeanensis are compared with those of five species of Haloptilus (H. angusticeps, H. fons, H. longicomis, H. ornatus and H. spiniceps). These characters show morphological differentiation at the species level. H. caribbeanensis has no aesthetasc on the proximal segments II, IV, and VI of the female antennules.

  • If the fault occurs on the underground Power cable system, the fault current on the sheath has the influence on all sections because it's returned through earth at the directly grounded point and operation point of SVL(Sheath Voltage Limiter) at joint box. Therefore, the earth resistance and the operation of SVL have an effect on the zero-sequence current. Then the impedance between relaying point and fault point is Increased. That causes the overreach of distance relay. For these reasons, the distance relay algorithm for protecting of the underground power cable systems was developed. It effectively advance the errors using ACI(Advanced Computing Intelligence) technique. In this algorithm, the optimization was performed by fuzzy inference system and genetic algorithm.

  • The temporary support system in Korea have been carried out generally along with installing supports, which are struts, anchors, rakers. However, most of existing support systems in application relatively have limitations such as cost increase, construction configuration, and displacement occurred with support systems. Thus, a new retaining support system(referred to as the SSR, NET No.533) was developed to solve the aforementioned problems. This study introduces the design, construction, and maintenance of the SSR system under the different construction conditions. The behavior and characteristics of the SSR system were identified based on the case studies.

  • This paper is to demonstrate the effectiveness of one point grounding in support of ESS protection. One point grounding provides for the dispatching of excess energy for protection of switching equipment and personnel from lightning discharge hazards and for a natural sink for noise from atmospheric lightning and power transients. In most ESS installations there are a number of different items that must be maintained at a common ground potential for safety, fault protection or noise reduction. The items typically consist of power systems, heating and ventilating systems, distributing frames, repeating equipmets, switching equipments, etc. Grounding system of an ESS Office is most effective when all the ground points are connected to a single, common earth. The one point grounding prvides a common reference potential, keeping all the items of telecommunications facility free from the earth current and voltage hazards.
