  • We prepared highly transparent and conductive Oxide/Metal/Oxide(OMO) multilayer by sputtering and developed wet etching process of OMO with a clear edge shape for the first time. The transmittance and sheet-resistance of the OMO are about 89% and $3.3\;{\Omega}/sq.$, respectively. We adopted OMO as a gate electrode of transparent TFT (TTFT) array and integrated OLED on top of the TTFT to result in high aperture ratio of bottom emission AM-OLED.

  • As artificial intelligence (AI) technology becomes more important, the demand for AI talent is increasing. However, there is a shortage of AI talent around the world, and it is difficult to secure. Therefore, it has become more important to nurture the AI workforce. The private sector and government in Korea and other countries are making an effort to cultivate AI talent, and ETRI has proposed "Nurturing AI Professionals" as ETRI AI Strategy #5 to meet both internal and national demands for AI talent. ETRI has suggested three key tasks to implement AI Strategy #5. The first one is to create a "top-notch AI talent training project: the ETRI AI Academy" to strengthen AI research capabilities. The second one is "nurturing AI engineers specialized in local-based industries: the ETRI AI Business School" to help supply the necessary AI workforce in the industry. The third one is the "contribution to AI education service for people: ETRI AI Literacy" to raise the public's understanding and utilization of AI.

High-Speed Traveling-Wave Photodetector with a 3-dB Bandwidth of 410 GHz

  • A high-speed traveling-wave photodetector (TWPD) with an InGaAs absorber is designed and realized. The bandwidth of the TWPD is measured using electro-optic sampling techniques. The bandwidth is 410 GHz, which shows that the RC limitation is overcome. While the TWPD shows a low responsivity of 0.06 A/W at 1,550 nm, this value can be improved through further optimization of the structure without a sacrifice in bandwidth.

  • Many control schemes have been proposed for flow-level traffic control. However, flow-level traffic control is implemented only in limited areas such as traffic monitoring and traffic control at edge nodes. No clear solution for end-to-end architecture has been proposed. Scalability and the lack of a business model are major problems for deploying end-to-end flow-level control architecture. This paper introduces an end-to-end transport architecture and a scalable control mechanism to support the various flow-level QoS requests from applications.
