A Case Study on e-Transformation of Kolon Glotech, Inc. (e-Transformation 수행 방안에 관한 코오롱글로텍(주)의 사례연구)

  • This study proposed the approaches to business process redesign and business network redesign in e-business environment through the case analysis of e-Transformation performed in Kolon Gloteck, Inc. which has been managed and operated in a traditional mode. The proposed e-Transformation approaches of the traditional firm in this study were as following: 1) Network-focused business process redesign; 2) Introducing ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) as e-Business backbone; 3) Establishing transparence of business functions through using shared database; 4) Understanding customer and constructing IT(Information Technology) infrastructure for customer satisfaction; 5) Performing data and process standardization; 6) Applying the best suitable IT(Information Technology) such as JSP(Java Server Pages) and VPN(Virtual Private Network). The findings of this case study are thought to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying, out e-Transformation of the typical traditional firm and to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of e-Transformation methodology.

A Study on Factors for Adopting of RFID Application Technology (RFID 응용 기술의 도입에 미치는 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) application technology is the core of ubiquitous technology. this research examines the factors for adopting the RFID application technology together with factors for adopting the related information system such as ERP, SCM, EDI by researching relevant literature. this research attempts to derive the factors for adopting RFID application technology by using the Delphi Method. The factors for adopting the information technology of the above-mentioned three areas totaled 116 adoption factors. Based on these 116 adoption factors, the factors for adopting RFID application technology were to be derived. A total of 27 adoption factors were derived in the first Delphi investigation. Of the total 27 adoption factors, final 9 adoption factors could be derived by conducting frequency analysis and relative importance analysis. In other words, 9 adoption factors that were derived last were found to be the cost related to tag, relationship with customer firms, compatibility of technology, information technology-based structure, trust and coordination between business firms, intensity of competition within the industry, the standardization of RFID technology, the top management's support and participation degree of client companies. When business firms try to adopt RFID application technology afterwards, concrete and close examination from this point of view was found to be necessary.

  • Hospitals today use independent systems for each department and job such as Hospital Information Sytem(HIS), Picture Archiving Communications System(PACS), Ordering Communication System(OCS), Electronic Medical Record(EMR), Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP), etc and each system employs its own DB. So, it is impossible to integrate information within the institution and difficult to keep transparency and consistency of data. I in this study offered a data integration environment through flexible management linked with other systems, and by doing that, designed a medical CRM frame which offers the optimum service the customer wants at the optimum time. I designed 4 of medical CRM frame: customer relationship management, public relations/marketing, service management, and statistics/analysis by the customer relationship management process standardization and aimed to offer tailored mobile contents according to customer's characters and health situation on the basis of customer's data by securing mobile medical contents for personalized medical information service.

  • The shipbuilding industry is characterized by order production, and various processes are performed simultaneously in the construction of ships. Therefore, effective management of the production process and productivity improvement form important key factors in the industry. For decades, researchers and process managers have attempted to improve processes by using business process analysis (BPA). However, conventional BPA is time-consuming, expensive, and mainly based on subjective results generated by employees, which may not always correspond to the actual conditions. This paper proposes a method to improve the production process of offshore plant modules by analysing the process mining data obtained from the shipbuilding industry. Process mining uses information accumulated from the system-provided event logs to generate a process model and determine the values hidden within the process. The discovered process is visualized as a process model. Subsequently, alternatives are proposed by brainstorming problems (such as bottlenecks or idle time) in the process. The results of this study can aid in productivity improvement (idle time or bottleneck reduction in the production process) in conjunction with a six-sigma technique or ERP system. In future, it is necessary to study the standardization of the module production processes and development of the process monitoring system.
